I haven't seen this in years, and now I remember why... Frank's performance was nothing short of disgraceful - even more so as HE was the champion. I can't remember if anything was said or done at the time, but he should've lost some of his purse for stinking the place out like that. He started hugging Tyson from about 18 seconds into the first round, and continued to do so until he was stopped. Boxing fans always discuss how bad Douglas was against Holyfield (and he was), but this should be discussed more as it was far worse. At least Douglas didn't hug his opponent for three rounds, and he threw punches - something that apparently helps in boxing!!

Mike lost his Mom. Lost C’us. Lost Jimmy. Lost his sister all in the span of about 6 or 7 years. Mike definitely picked the WRONG GIRL. Yes I believe he raped her. I believe she said no but albeit at a bad time. And Mike had already made up his mind. The thing something like this was bound to happen. Just a matter of time. Mike had a history of aggressive misconduct with girls and women. His life was off the rails. And there was nobody to stop him from running a muck.

The day Tyson, who was by then, indoctrinated into Don King's cult. Fired *Kevin Rooney* was the day his greatness came to a grinding halt. Everyone he fought after Spinks and before Douglas were just sacrificial lambs wheeled in by King. Also, Tyson developed a bad and arrogant attitude once his old team from the Catskills were out of the picture. The very people D'Amato trusted to see his legacy through. Tyson shit on those people and Cus D'Amato in the process. Whenever I see him crying when he speaks about him. I put that down to guilt.

I trained Mike Tyson with Cus D'amato and Kevin Rooney in the 80s. I'm also a life-long boxing historian. With no exceptions, Rooney and I always had Mike Tyson completely prepared and ready for every fight: Ultimate and MAX desire, confidence, clarity of mind and purpose, concentration; the "eye of the tiger." We prepared, trained, and lived the right way. Our original "80s team Tyson" was a family; we all got along and were good, close friends. I actually don't know how many (if any) members of our original "Team Tyson" are still alive; nor have I had any contact with anyone since we were all 'sacked' by Tyson in the late 80s. I have never tried to contact Tyson since the late 80s. To an extent, Rooney, but especially I, had kind of a bizarre, 'dry' and vicious sense of humour that was tailor-made for boxing. I 'hyped' Tyson up for his fight against Pinklon Thomas by calling Thomas a 'sissy': What kind of a 'man' wears pink shorts? What a mama's boy! In the mid 80s, we encouraged Tyson to come out as a gladiator and a warrior, a stalking tiger...wearing nor robe or socks. I told Mike Tyson on several occasions back then that it would be cool if he went berserk in the ring like a street fighter and bit the ears off of someone...like the rabbits in the 70s movie, "Watership Down." Once Tyson 'sacked' all of us 'original team Tyson' in the late 80s, I lost a lot of interest in boxing but still followed Tyson's career...though I was never quite as much a fan of Tyson (but still rooted for him).......or boxing in general.......like I was when we were training him. I'm sure that Rooney (I don't know if he's still alive) has noticed, as I have, that Tyson never had the same mental preparation or boxing skills that he had when WE were training him.....at any time in the 90s. Post prison, especially, Tyson's boxing skills in every fight never had the same consistency from round to round that he had under Rooney and I. In some ways, Tyson's biting part of Holyfield's ear off is one of the greatest most hilarious things I've ever seen in boxing history. I wonder if my 'dry sense of humour' in prepping Tyson for a fight.....and mentioning back in the 80s that Tyson should bite his opponent's ears off......somehow subconsciously played a role in this fight. In a way, I think it would be awesome if it did. Re-watching this video upload tonight is hilarious to see Tyson 'losing his marbles' and becoming a 'madman'.....which to smaller extents he remained until he retired. Classic, classic stuff. In some ways, this is the 'birth' of Mike Tyson....unfortunately the 'becoming of a thug'.......for the better and worse. I always knew that ANY Tyson-Holyfied fight would be tough for Tyson, be it 80s or 90s. I'm at awe before this fight noticing how incredibly relaxed and confident Holyfield is. My hat (though I have none) is off to him. He really had the 'heart of a champion' and was the real deal. I do believe all headbutts in both Holyfield-Tyson fights were 'incidental' and some if not all caused by BOTH fighters. Could Tyson have won this 2nd fight if he really tried? Maybe. We'll never know...

As a guy that was a teen back during the 80s, I dare say that you must admit that Tyson never beat an elite fighter. That is his legacy. He was great at beating chumps, but that's all he did. Tyson really had nothing going for him, but thanks to hype, and hype alone, he was able to make tens of millions, and blow tens of millions, and fight for titles. He should be regarded as a fighter that did more with less than any boxer ever. My two cents.

@@theblindgod666 Your opinion isn't uncommon but isn't the 'majority.' That being said, I don't fault you, and I myself only rank Mike Tyson at about the #13 best heavyweight of all time (right behind Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis) due to the fact that I opine that Mike Tyson's "90s" era greatly diminished his legacy. Also objectively, that being said, I feel and opine that your opinion is more or less a 'half-truth.' Tyson did what he could; he did excel when we members of the original 80s "Team Tyson" were training him; he never lost to all of the best that WERE AVAILABLE in the 80s, he was always totally and utmost ready physically and mentally, and he did fight some very good fighters in the 80s, though admittedly not truly elite boxers as none were available at that time: Tyson beat a Larry Holmes past his prime, an undefeated Michael Spinks whom he destroyed, and pretty good boxers such as Pinklon Thomas, Trevor Berbick, and a few others most of whom were also 'easy' victories for Tyson. Unfortunately the 80s was a weak era for the heavyweight division, but I opine that in the late 80s, during Tyson's peak, that "Iron Mike" was nearly as good as anyone in boxing history: I do believe however, that say, Sonny Liston, Joe Louis, and George Foreman would've beaten Tyson the majority of the time had the best versions fought each other (and Ali as well); however, I believe that Tyson would've beaten, say, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis 6 times out of 10 if the best ever version of Tyson had fought the best versions of Holyfield and Lewis. Holyfield beat and fought a Tyson that had probably lost a significant amount of his 'edge' post-Prison; and Lewis beat a WAY over-the-hill Tyson...

@@yaantsudnbesdai972 Well, if you were part of Team Tyson like you claim, then you would know that Tommy Brooks, who trained Tyson, said that wladimir Klitschko had faster hand than Tyson. Also, Vitale beat the ever loving shit out of Lewis, but lost b/c of a ref stoppage. Vitale never lost a round in all of his fights. And I dare say that Marciano would have beaten Tyson. Tyson might have had better skills, but Marciano was much tougher. Many experts state that Archie Moore might have been the best ever at that weight class. Keep in mind that the 80s Tyson could not KO Mitch Green and Tyson beat Tucker, which was a heavily disputed result. Some thought Tucker beat Tyson in that fight. Even the prime Tyson had faults and had his detractors. Jim Lampley speaking on Tysn's career, commented, "who did he beat?" And that is a good question. Foreman said Lewis was the best to ever do it in that division. But I would have to go with Vitale. Vitale beat Lewis for six rounds on all the scorecards--something that Tyson, not even the prime Tyson could do. I think even Tyson has said that Marciano was a top 10 all timer. And I dare say that the prime Holmes would have beaten the prime Tyson simply b/c Holmes was so much bigger than Tyson and Holmes had one of the best jabs ever. My take is that Tyson was all hype. The fighters were afraid of the image of Tyson and not exactly Tyson himself. Thankfully, one man in 1990 stood up to Tyson and showed everyone that Tyson was all hype. And Tyson never fully recovered from that.

@@theblindgod666 I respect your comments though I still opine that they do disrespect Tyson to a great degree and are 'half-truths.' Teddy Atlas also trained Tyson and was originally and somewhat briefly a member of our original "team Tyson." Atlas has always had a fairly low opinion, like you, about Mike Tyson...part of the reason, I personally believe, is due to the fact that Cus D'amato fired Atlas for a dispute with Tyson. I am also a lifelong boxing historian and have seen countless hours of footage from all eras of boxers...though admittedly not nearly as much as footage from the 90s to the present date...as the 80s and any decade before the 80s... I have admittedly, hence, not seen much footage of the "Klitshko Brothers" but am currently in the process of finding and watching more and more footage of more 'recent boxers' of all divisions, via youtube video uploads, etc. My 'general impression' of 90s boxers to the present is that they definitely aren't as skilled as 'older era' boxers or as tough. My 'initial' impresssions of the Klitschkos is that they mostly fall into this stereotype, entirely accurate or not, as well as say Tyson Fury, Deonte Wilder, and others. They definitely have some power but their overall skills, chins, etc. ability to throw and keep throwing combinations, etc. etc. seems pretty sad compared to most eras before them. As you alluded, Rocky Marciano, whether totally a 'product of his era' or not, was undefeated and exceedingly tough: He trained as hard as anyone ever ever has, had awesome resilience, and simply found a way to win every fight. I don't know how the best version of Marciano would've compared to the best version of Tyson; I believe every fight could've been close and Tyson might win say 6 times out of 10. If you opine that Marciano clearly would've won the majority of the times, I don't fault you; hypothetical situations like these are impossible to prove. My opinion is that the best pound-per-pound boxer ever is Sugar Ray Robinson. My top five heavyweights of all time are: 1. Muhammad Ali 2. Joe Louis 3. Jack Johnson 4. George Foreman 5. Rocky Marciano I believe objectively that if Mike Tyson had retained his 'edge' and 'eye-of-the-tiger' throughout his career that he would've lost only 2-3 fights and very likely I would've ended up ranking him as a top 5 heavyweight of all time. I do believe that Mike Tyson lost 'enough' of an edge from 1990 onward that it made a LOT of difference in terms of fights he lost that he might have won. I do believe Lennox Lewis is both simultaneously an 'overrated' and 'underrated' fighter. For me, he simply wasn't 'busy' enough unlike nearly all heavyweights who preceeded him; too cautious... I also do rank Larry Holmes at about #10 heavyweight of all times, hence, ahead of Tyson, Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis. HOWEVER, I do believe that Tyson defeated a 'mostly-skilled' Holmes in '97, and that the best version of Tyson would've beaten the best version of Holmes 8 times out of 10 because Holmes could not handle Tyson's style or aggression or skills or punching power...

    • @theblindgod666

@@yaantsudnbesdai972 After Lewis knocked out Tyson, Foreman said on commentary that Lewis is the best heavyweight of all time. Now reason dictates that if a fighter, in this case, Vitali, beat Lewis on all scorecards for 6 rounds, and the fight was stopped b/c of a cut on Vitali's eye and Lewis won, reason dictates that Vitali is the best heavy ever. Also, what about Norton? He did beat Ali, granted a beaten up older Ali, but he at least beat somebody, and Tyson never did. Is Norton better than Tyson? I don't know. Bowe should have been the best to ever do it, but he didn't utilize all of his skills and he was scared of Lewis, but Bowe did beat Holyfield--twice. Should that move Bowe ahead of Tyson? And Schmeling did beat Louis..so should Schmeling be considered better than Tyson? You did not mention Archie Moore in your top 5. Also, what about Michael Moorer? He may not be consdered an all time great, but he beat Holyfield..something Tyson could never do. So is he better than Tyson? Walker Smith is widely regarded as the best to ever do it, but I am going to have to go with Manny Pac. He started out as a flyweight but ended up knocking out guys in the 140 pound range.
