Канада
Добавлен 1 апр 2013
Kat Honey is an award-winning graduate of Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) in graphic design.
Often bold (but sometimes subtle), Kat's work in collage, graphics and painting is informed by her design training and her penchant for text, wit and wordplay.
Recent exhibitions include: In Situ Multi-arts Festival, Mississauga, The Gladstone Hotel's Come Up to My Room, The Red Head Gallery, The Artist Project and Fashion Art Toronto. When not in the studio or classroom, Kat can often be found in the gym or out riding one of her beloved bicycles…
As an instructor, Kat teaches artist-to-artist: inspiration, challenge, structure, support, artistic freedom, lively discussion - and laughter. She is a regular instructor at Haliburton School of the Arts, Neilson Park Creative Centre and Visual Arts Mississauga, as well as leading workshops, giving lectures and jurying exhibitions throughout Southern Ontario.

We love you Kat and trust you and back you all the way! As far as tidying the studio, I am totally overwhelmed with collage papers, as my sister had a book sale to help an old people’s home. I got bunches of tremendous magazine for real cheap! My Canada collection is on its way.. can’t imagine what I’ll do when I get it!🤭🤭🤭
Aw thank you Nelly -- that means a lot. So exciting to score a bunch of new materials! Can't wait to see what you do with them!
I’ve come to the snow globe party late, but love the theme! It’s dark outside now, and if there happened to be snowflakes falling against the black sky, that would be so beautiful!
Right? Like so many, I struggle with winter's darkness -- but viewed differently, it does have some truly beautiful upsides: moonlit snowfalls, people's holidays lights on my evening walks. It's all in the frame!
I will be ordering your book.
Here's a link to Issue Magazine Shop in Toronto: issuesmagshop.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooovq3ISo3_N_RwfVMfNcx2i0bMmuvfaUbnXQu9IJoU33XQZwCA They're at 1489A Dundas Street West (just W. of Dufferin) and they have an "outpost" in the east end at 1025 Queen Street East (just E. of Pape). The magazine I showed were: Pop Magazine: www.thepop.com/ and Wonderland: www.wonderlandmagazine.com/ (For both - brace yourself for edgy youth culture.) Next Jam is Tuesday November 12 at 2 pm. Theme is "Horseplay". See you then! Warmest, Kat
Sorry to miss the Live.. btw I know the Midland Drive-in well🥴… glad to watch the replay and participate later!!
Mia: Here's the almond flour pie crust. Simple and tasty: Courtesy of Kelsey Rae Dimberg: www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/almond-flour-pie-crust/ Almond Flour Pie Crust Recipe Ingredients: 2 cups almond flour Granulated erythritol equivalent to 2 teaspoons granulated sugar, optional Dash salt 1 large egg, lightly beaten 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted Directions: Step 1: Combine the dry ingredients Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, mix the almond flour and salt. Add the sugar substitute if you’d like the pastry to be sweet, and omit for a savory flavor. Editor’s Tip: You may substitute your preferred sweetener, as long as it’s dry. Simply use the equivalent of two teaspoons granulated sugar. Step 2: Prep the wet ingredients Melt the coconut oil. Crack the egg into a small bowl, and beat well with a fork. This will make it easier to incorporate into the dry ingredients and ensures no eggshell will break into the pastry. Step 3: Mix Stir the egg and oil into the flour mix with a fork. Step 4: Check the texture The pastry should be moist but still slightly crumbly, like wet sand. When pressed together, it should just hold. If your pastry is drier and crumbles, add a teaspoon of cold water. Step 5: Press into pan Pour the pastry mix into a 9-in. pie plate. Press the mixture together to make an even crust along the base of the pan and up the sides. Step 6: Pierce Pierce holes in the crust with a fork. This prevents the crust from puffing up when baking. Step 7: Flute the rim Using a fork, press the pastry crust around the rim of the pie plate. Step 8: Bake Bake until very lightly browned, 8-10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Can I swap almond meal for almond flour? Though both are made from ground almonds, almond flour and almond meal are not interchangeable. This recipe requires almond flour to work. Almond flour is finely ground, making a sturdier, denser crumb. It’s substantial enough to use in large ratios, sometimes even replacing wheat or gluten-free flours altogether, as in this recipe. Almond meal, on the other hand, is a coarser grind that is rich in flavor with a crumbly, soft texture. It’s generally added in smaller quantities alongside finer-grind flours, as it can’t support a baked good on its own. Should I pre-bake the crust before filling it? Yes. Pre-baking pie crust is fairly standard even with traditional crust. If you add the filling and bake it all together, the crust will be soggy. Pre-baking makes for a tender, flaky crust that’s fully cooked throughout.
Thank you, Kat. It has the perfect ingredients and I have them all in my cupboard. I will give it a try this weekend. You are the BEST!!!
@@tango780 Plus it seems way less fussy than "regular" pastry...

So interesting to hear your Trump comments as we face him again 😢🇺🇸
Please no. Hopefully he's in jail soon...
Yeah, ‘ cause BLM Obama (AND BLM bail fund Kamala) didn’t also let all those other “miserable people out from under rocks” who went on to shoot, wound or m-rder dozens of LE , injure hundreds of others; burn, breach or vandalize over 130 federal courthouses, police stations or gov buildings, or destroy $2 Billion worth of property and businesses. Yep, And here I was hoping just To enjoy some simple art method demos. Oh well.
Thanks for bearing with the tech issues, everyone. For those of you watching afterwards, we lost sound for the last 15 minutes or so. Also, thanks for bearing with the cringy voice. Its not great at the best of times, but the cold has made it EVEN worse.

That was a FUN collage jam! ❤B
Glad you enjoyed it, Brian!
What's so funny about a needle and electricity?
Of course, now I can't remember what I said -- but I suspect I just meant a left-field for an artist to be doing...
Kal I just may LOVE puns about "B"s....nice work on replay...also got my labels done for coLABELage....❤B
Cool, Brian! So glad you got the labels done -- good luck!
Thank you for your constant generosity.
Oh, that’s just my ignorance… I didn’t realize she was in the US!
Is Agata back in Poland? I thought she was here in Oregon...up in Portland...lovely that you two are showing together!
I took a week of learning about collaging with you in Haliburton... totally enjoyed it. So much to learn... so little time!
Aw thanks, Penny! I hope these Collage Jams are a fun way to learn a bit more!
That was fun on replay...inspired me to make a negative space collage from a Japanese fashion magazine.....and I LOVE IT! THANKS Kal!......❤B
That's sounds awesome, Brian! Did you post it in our Facebook group? Hope so. I'll go check! My wife has a few Korean fashion magazines, and they seem so much fatter than their North American counterparts -- same with the Japanese mag??
@@kathoney7908 Hi Kal...I actually only have the Facebook cuz I had to for IG...NEVER to rarely use it though...my family pops up there and I want to avoid that...anyhoo...I may join for the community though...I LOVE that you are showing with AGATA...you two have similar styles in collage yet very different...I got your book, just haven't opened package yet...in a few days! Gerda here . Congratulations on being ahead of the herd with collage and the focus on collaborative work. I still prefer in -person collaboration. I appreciate the suggestions for sources.
Aw thanks, Gerda!
Sorry I was to late to join. Just couldn’t make it earlier
Congratulations and thank you so much!
For some reason, I can't participate in the chat. . . um-m-m-m
Sorry, Rickie! Sometimes there's no explaining tech gremlins, eh?
not sure why my comments aren't going through??
all good, thanks!
Hello Kal and Kim, You do not know me but you have unknowingly provided comfort and inspiration to me over the past year or so. I am new to making art and started collaging over the past 2 years to destress from my full time job as a geriatric Physical Therapist. Just wanted to reach out and thank you both for so generously sharing your time, knowledge and creative process. More importantly I send Kim big hugs and wishes for a full recovery.
Oh Susan, thank you for your comment! Our hope was to help people through the pandemic, and working in geriatrics must have been super-stressful! I'm so, so glad to be able to have given you a bit of a reprieve from daily worries. Art is so good for taking your mind to a better place for a little while. I've sharing this comment with Kim -- thank you from her, too!
flag upside down?
Definitely! Thanks for noticing! A few participants gave me the heads up too. A hazard of working away on colour so intently that you lose track of other things, lol. Fortunately not glued down, so was fixable.
GREAT!!!!
Just joined u so did not miss a ything?
Hello
Kim, so great to hear your lovely voice.
Aw thanks, Rosemary! I'll pass that along to Kim!
