Anybody still listen to this on repeat when they have a bad day and wanna feel worse by chunking their guitar in the trash? 😅
Wow.
I knew Jimmy and I know his guitars and his tone. You can't miss it when you guys play; it's all there. For those who want to find the D'Aquisto tone, look up Tone Poems II (My Romance on youtube) and listen to Martin Taylor play a real D';Aquisto. Same smooth soft pretty tone. Thanks.
Thank you for your kind comments. You are fortunate to have known Jimmy. I wasn't blessed with the opportunity to know Jimmy, but I love his instruments. And you're absolutely right about the smooth, bell-like tone of his remarkable instruments.
@@MrJazzbluesguitar Hi Michael-Yes, I was very fortunate and I knew it then. Jimmy was an unusually special, gentle, man.
Filthy
He's playing that thing like it owes him money!!!
What is the year and model of the f-hole model? Looks to be a new yorker special or excel from the late 70s/early 80s pre-thinline logo
Hey, Tim. It's a 1981 New Yorker Special listed as a "Jim Hall" in Jimmy's ledgers. The guitar is unique in that the rims are 2 3/4" rather than the typical 3" rims. Also Jimmy sprayed over the binding, which Jim Hall preferred. Supposedly this guitar was initially built for Jim Hall, but at some point during the build Jim decided he wanted something else.
You are my favorite RUclips guitarist!! Your playing, tone and feel are so amazing!!!! Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Do you ever get to Michigan to do a show?
Is this the guitarist from Snarky Puppy? Awesome playing from both of you!
Yes. Chris is a member of Snarky Puppy. He and Matt are both such musical and tasteful musicians. Thanks for watching the video!
Thanks for sharing Michael. There is a sonority to the voice of a D 'Aquisto that is unmatched. That pure round ring......just beautiful.
Thanks, Steve. No one knows the ring of Jimmy's guitars better than you, my friend!
The new album Mind Control is brilliant! Guy is a star.
to be a sound check is a very long solo. and pretty much self indulgent. even bass and drums can make some solos also
Jimmy was the greatest.
Very nice, tasteful interplay of two guitars! Jimmy was making me an acoustic "Centura" when he unfortunately passed away unexpectedly.
Thanks, Paul. A friend of mine had a Centura on order from Jimmy when he tragically passed. Jimmy was the best.
Me too :<(
Master player 🥰
JD. This guy is so incredible. Would love to see and LP with BUK~
So far- JD Simo and Marcus King are the 2 best current generation real deal gut tar slingers….yeah.
!!!
Nailed the duane allman sound!
Cant beat the thick sounds of gibson guitars when it comes to traditional American music.
Among the young blues players in U.S. now, this guy is the best IMHO.
TONE
The clap all the way.....
Just getting after it!!
360th like ...... any more
Great playing you guys. Jimmy D’Aquisto would be very proud seeing his Instruments played in this setting.
Beautiful sound, playing and views
WOW
And I thought the videos at Robert's with a letter jacket and a screaming white Tele was just about the coolest thing I ever saw......I was wrong
gibson 59 sound the best
That pre-covid jd ooh boy
If James Clerk Maxwell could have lived to see this, his appreciation of magnetic inductance would be substantially enhanced.
Nice playing. What exactly are these superchops? Never heard of it. Need to google 👍
Howard Robert’s developed a practice regimen to enhance technique as well as musical proficiency. It’s a tune-based program that lasts 20 weeks. Definitely worth checking out.
@@MrJazzbluesguitar thx for the response. I will check it out sometime 🙏🙏🙏
Sounds great, but it’s not Roberts’ Super Chops. That’s unending eighth notes or triplets. No rests, no space, no other rhythm.
Yes. I realize you're right. I took some liberties. :) Just finished the 20 week course. Time well spent. Thanks for watching!
@@MrJazzbluesguitar Not surprised. It’s really a great system. So simple, but it addresses so many things, depending on what you need at the time.
@@duffypratt Absolutely! It really is a great system. I might do it again soon! Thanks for chiming in!
Outstanding! Love that bass tone!
It almost looks like a kustom tuck n roll but I can’t tell for sure
Humbuckers through a plexi stack........heaven baby........
Go get it Michael! 💕🎶
Very nice playing Michael - and the guitar sounds great.
...I like JD Simo ... talented , nice , humble...no reason to dislike that dude .
Really good, too bad he's a liberal.
Throwing the word liberal around as if it's some kind of damning insult is a bit pathetic.
How do you know he is a liberal?
I saw JD around this time. I think this is when he was at his best
Off at 11 was the best combo of his blues-rock chops and his esoteric psychedelic take on Chicago blues. His new shit just sounds like he is bored...
This man is exceedingly dynamic with chops for eternity!
That’s when he sounded best with the Marshall
You dont dig the ampegs now?
That dude can play.
Love to share a stage....
Great improv JD, fusion at it’s upper best.
JD easily could’ve been on stage with guys like Duane Allman or Mike Bloomfield.
てゆうかデュアンやマイクという 先人がいたから今の彼があるのでしょ? デュアンやマイクと同じ土俵で 語るのはナンセンスだと思うよ
Fantastic !
That woman tone tryin to sing
That rig... pulsonic g12m's and something else.. ceramic but not sure. vintage tubes in that vintage plexi. i would boost the top end personally but it is definitely the burst/marshall purist rig.
Michael, nice to see you again after all these years. I just subscribed to keep in touch.
Hey, Kamlapati! Nice to hear from you. I hope all is well. Do you ever pop on the JGF anymore? There's a great thread about one of Bryant's latest guitars called the Georgian. Take care!
@@MrJazzbluesguitar Haven't been to JGF in years, but just posted on the thread!
