Speed up FileVault Encryption / Decryption on SSD
How to speed up FileVault encryption / Decryption on your Mac? It's simple as that - just disable one option + disable computer sleep. It will work almost instantly as you can see.
Just so you know - the computer showed has been encryption for one day already.

Have you ever noticed that when you have FileVault enabled, when you log in after boot there is a progress bar under the account icon? Well, that's because when the boot volume is encrypted, the system boots into a slimmed down version of macos on another volume. When you log in, the boot volume decrypts and the main os starts booting in the background. After macos has booted the os switches from the slimmed down version to actual macos, and the slimmed down macos shuts itself down. If FileVault is disabled, the progress bar is underneath the apple logo, and macos boots normally. Both instances the progress bar just shows macos booting up.
Worked for me went from 11 hours to 59 minutes

okay guys I had to comment, I did this and it didn't change anything.. I waited a few mins closed the little window and the youtube page.. opened it back up to check how much time was left and it shortened it to 1 hour!
El Cuh did yours finish already or just turned it off?
Marco Chavez yes it finished, it quoted me an hour after I followed this video and did what I did.. and it finished up little Under that hour it quoted me!, your having issues?
El Cuh right now it says unless then a day or somethin like that but it’s status percentage is 12% and I followed the same process of the video I might leave it all night
I accidentally turned it on and now I’ll have to decrypt it once it finishes
Marco Chavez yeah man same thing happened to me.. just remember it’ll take the same amount to undo it all.. so I just left it hah . Also don’t let the screen time out cuz then It pauses it.
