I guess after Randy Sparks died this year, they disbanded? Randy Sparks signed an album for me several years ago when they were in Newberry, SC at the opera house and did a great show. I loved Berry McGuire's big bold voice too.

'Hootenanny' was another one of those syndicated shows that was mostly broadcast as a 'filler' in my town. 'Gaddabout Gaddis the Flying Fisherman' was another one. Neither one was seen on a regular basis.

Me and my whole family love New Christy Minstrels. Grew up on them. Just visited Denver for the first time last week, and I can definitely attest to the song!

Could have been a hit if properly promoted!

What else do you have from the 12 week series which they were regulars on? By the way, the color videotapes are long gone but all of the episodes exist on kinescopes. UCLA has 10 of the 12. Paley Center has 4, including the 2 UCLA is missing. And Retro Video has copies of all 12.

The woman whose hand was kissed by Mr. Lawford had a guest acting role on THE GOLDEN GIRLS as Dorothy's communist cousin from Czechoslovakia. She was funny.

Jackie was the blonde, and Gayle(who sadly passed away some years ago) was the brunette. They sang beautifully.

Out of control teens all hopped-up on who-knows-what.

Anymore performance of whole shows 11-1-62 March 28 1962 red Skelton 1965 academy awards

Rather poignant watching Gerry and The Pacemakers, with last surviving member, keyboardist Les McGuire, dying just recently

I had that Here and Now album years ago and got it digitally from Amazon a while back. When I first met McGuire a few years ago and told him I had the album he flipped. This song is on it, and it sounds good as a trio here.

I remember this show. I think it was shown originally in March or April1965 or so, then rerun several times over the next few years. This particular line-up of the Christies didn't last long - I can see Barry McGuire and Paul Potash are gone, but Barry Kane is still there. Kane didn't leave until late April or early May 1965, while McGuire and Potash were gone in January 1965 or so. This was a really good special, which I guess is why it was rerun four or five times over the late 1960s.

I think the song has something to do with King Uziah building things. Great arrangement. Barry Kane was the fire in the group (may he Rest In Peace), Barry McGuire was the edge. Great together. This isn't 1964 though. Jackie Miller and Gayle Caldwell are in the group - they left before 1964, as I recall.

Have mercy, I remember this from the night it aired. Never thought I'd see it again. Barry McGuire left the group while they were in Europe right after this.
