I honestly think it sound cool, music theory or not. Even with full music theory knowledge I didn't find this too dissonant. If you are trying to make something fully harmonic though, music theory is great to know! Good to know in general, plus making writing melodies and fitting everything together way easier/quicker. Keep it up!
