Je lis des "on devrait...”, “on devrait...” - mais on, on ne devrait rien du tout - quand on est présent lors de l’exécution on distingue parfaitement les trois provenances des sons.. et ce jeu de répartition du discours musical sur trois sources est suffisamment subtil et riche pour étonner, fasciner et plaire.. Ne reprochons pas à Mozart de ne pas être Beethoven.

The most authentic interpretation since the days of Brahms himself, who had encouraged the young Backhaus to perform this work. This should be compulsory listening for any pianist preparing the work for performance today.

This would be one of the earliest recordings of the Schumann opus 17. Backhaus was one of the artists who bridged the gap between nineteenth century and and today's piano playing. His playing is instantly recognisable and is compelling listening.

Grandissimo Clavicembalista! In certi “levare” si avverte la sua ipertrofica sensibilità dovuta alla cecità sopravvenuta in giovane età. Potrebbe essere la registrazione dei primi anni “60 che fece utilizzando il “piccolo” Organo Barocco Silberman della Chiesa di San Giovanni, a Strasburgo od anche il Grande Organo Schnitzger della Cattedrale di San Lorenzo ad Alkhmaar in Olanda. Sentendo il “vellutato farinoso” dei bassi, propenderei per l’Organo Silberman.

Pura fantascienza per i comuni mortali… ho provato a memorizzare da ragazzo le prime pagine… impossibile… si fa prima e memorizzare l’elenco telefonico di una media città…

I'm in complete agreement with @bobgold57. This is definitely his greatest recording for me as well. His playing is so supple and expressive, even within the context of his usual unsentimental rhythmic directness. Much more so than his Brahms solo recordings from the same period.

Toco en Barcelona en Octubre de 1989 esta obra ...de momento no la entendí por su modernidad, a dia de hoy transcurrido los años ya la entiendo. Felicito al compositor y naturalmente a al grandioso pianista.....

L'oeuvre propose un trio pour orchestre, mais elle ne tient pas son objectif. L'auditeur ne peut parvenir à distinguer chaque orchestre. Le discours est tellement haché et confus que l'on entend qu'un orchestre malgré la bonne volonté des chefs.
