Empathy Compassion and the Fulfilment of the Law | Paul RIpley | Allegiance to the King
In Paul Ripley's teaching on "Empathy, Compassion, and Fulfillment of the Law," he emphasizes how developing empathy and compassion leads to genuine love for others, which is at the heart of fulfilling God's commandments. Drawing from Biblical principles, Ripley explains that empathy allows us to understand others' feelings, while compassion drives us to alleviate their suffering. He discusses how embodying these qualities helps us naturally love our neighbors, not out of obligation, but because it becomes part of who we are. Ripley also integrates practical ways to apply empathy and compassion in daily life, urging listeners to reflect on their actions and relationships. His thought-prov...

This is NOT an eternal life verse....'Saved' does not always mean from judgement... Over 200 times, the bible gives the ONLY requirement to have eternal life which is to BELIEVE ON JESUS CHRIST who paid our sin debt on the cross and is risen!!! That is it! Stop adding to finish led work of Christ...."By the OBEDIENCE OF ONE many shall be made righteous! "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved". Believers who possess eternal life are the only ones who can call on the Lord.... We should not build doctrines on verses.....No where else does the bible give calling as a requirement....

What if someone believes and has since then has never stopped believing, but for a season of their life got themselves entangled into a sinful lifestyle and now realizes their error and wants to come back to the Lord with greater commitment. Is that what Hebrews 6:4-6 is talking about? Is there no room for them to come back in repentance? You stated it’s the wrong question however the question is still valid. I mean no disrespect in my question , I’m trying to understand what it means “those who have fallen away”. Those who have fallen into a sinful lifestyle and now recognize their error and want to come back with greater commitment to the Lord or those who simply don’t believe in God and his son Jesus.

I cannot speak for Dan Gallagher. It is my understanding that the ultimate problem with a sinful lifestyle is that it hardens the heart over time. Rationalization of practicing sin darkens the understanding and perspective. God is forgotten. Here God gives us a new heart and we trash it. Not good. But If a person is repentant then God will forgive them as stated in 1 John 1:9. Also, some people simply abandon their faith altogether. I think that is what Hebrews is addressing, abandonment. They experienced walking with the Father and Jesus and then turned their backs on it to return to some form of Judaism. It's renouncing Christ, an affirmative rejection of him as Lord.

You are probably right in assuming plenty of push-back on your position on this one. Including myself. I hear a significant “soul sleep” presupposition position being brought into the interpretation of scripture. This is not “The Truth has nothing to fear”. Elevating of some scriptures out of context, and the distorting and ignoring of some others. I tried to post a much longer response BUT it is not being allowed for some reason.

John this is so weak of an argument. You're basically just nullifying the word of god. This type of argumentation sounds like the type trinitarians would use.

    • @johntruitt4458
      @johntruitt4458 23 дня назад

Can you explain your reasoning? The analogy of the alibi is intended to help understand the logic of the argument. Are you saying that if the day of the murder cannot be established that it is still ok to use that evidence selectively only using the day that the suspect doesn’t have an alibi? It’s easy to say an argument is weak, unsound, or wrong. But you need to prove your claims. I’m always happy to be shown when I am wrong, honestly.

Allow me a couple comments/questions: 1. To me it seems "positions of authority" is different from being a pastor/elder. Paul does specifically say "over a man". In even the most complementarian assemblies I've ever been around, women have positions of authority over other women and children. In fact, that would be an important concept in complementarian understanding. A woman would likely be better than a man in such a position. 2. You don't explain what you think 1 Tim. 2:11-12 means if "woman" should be understood as "wife". Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are saying the translation should be something like this: "Let a wife learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no wife to teach or to have authority over a husband; she is to keep silent." What does that mean?

Hi Bill! I responded to this same question you posted in the UCA group but I thought I’d post it here too for the sake of anyone reading and with your same questions: Bill Schlegel thanks for watching the video and interacting with it!! I am not egalitarian when it comes to marriage. I am complementarian. The actual interpretation of 1 Tim 2:12 isn’t really relevant to my point. If it can legitimately be interpreted in a different way that makes the verse not relevant to the prohibition argument then it cannot be used as a basis for the prohibition argument. I’m planning on following up this series with a similar series on marriage. I’ll cover my interpretation of the verse in detail in that series. But suffice to say I believe the basic message has to do with promoting growth and peace in marriage.

In regards to the New Revised Standard version of Genesis 1:1-2, I don't understand how this translation fits with Isaiah 45:18? "For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it a CHAOS, he formed it to be inhabited!)..." The word in Genesis 1:2 "formless void" (NRSVue). Therefore, if it was not created that way, then how did the earth become chaotic? One theory is that it became that way between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. The word "was" in Gen 1:2 "And the earth WAS..." is sometimes translated "became", as in Gen 3:22a "Then the Lord God said, ‘See, the man has BECOME like one of us, knowing good and evil..." I have always enjoyed this theory because it explains or gives time and place for dinosaurs existence etc.

The "Person", the Risen Lord, Paul is talking about here is Jesus and be (Paul) is hoping that the reader (you) would see the obvious "hyperlink" to the Shema (see Deuteronomy 6). There is one God and one LORD. The mystery of the Father, Son and Spirit is that they are this One God. Paul is presenting Jesus as the one God of the story of the whole Bible. The Gospel writers didn't want you to miss this either. John 8:58 "Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” Jesus is the great "I AM". God in the flesh. John 14:7. "If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

I 100% agree with your pitch on tithing with all of the nuances and layers. Hit the mark dead centre! I completed my own study on tithing a few years ago out of annoyance based on what I saw going on in a local church service at that time (they have subtle shades of prosperity teaching going on at times). I remember emailing the study below to a few friends who fellowship at this church. TITHING is NOT part of the New Covenant AND has never been a scriptural Christian practice. ============================================================================ Tithing is an obsolete mentality that is not part of our “New Covenant relationship” to God through Christ. A “tithing mentality” actually hinders people from being led and empowered by the Holy Spirit in my opinion. New Testament scriptures are completely devoid of support for the practice of tithing. It is popular in some Christian churches to teach that we must tithe 10% of our pay-check to the church, but is this really what the New Covenant teaches? I find it quite ironic (and hypocritical) that the churches who teach that Old Testament Law is abolished are the same ones who teach that you must pay them “a tithe” from your income. This cultish teaching is quite popular because it ensures a steady income for pastors and their building programs. Understanding what it means to be “in Christ” is the key to understanding why tithing is not part of the New Covenant. In Christ, we are no longer just servants of God who live by laws and principles as people did before the Cross and his resurrection. Christians are spiritually re-born of God and live by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit and Christ himself. Old Covenant Israel had a very different relationship to God than we now have “in Christ”. “Tithing” was an Old Testament practice instituted by God as a means of Israel supporting the tribe of Levites who were not allowed to own land or income for themselves AND is not consistent with important aspects of the New Covenant and the believer's new nature in Christ. In the New Testament we are encouraged to GIVE GENEROUSLY (and not tithe religiously) and to do so willingly and as we feel moved by the Holy Spirit to meet the needs of both the Church, and the poor and needy (2 Corinthians 9:6-7; Matthew 6:1-4; 1 Timothy 6:17-19; 2 Corinthians 8:12; Luke 12:33-34). Generosity and giving is a desired Christian character trait and spiritual discipline of life in Christ. Financial giving of some Christians will likely far exceed 10% of their incomes. The spirit behind all forms of generous giving is also diametrically opposite to legalistic tithing. One is done out of love; the other is done out of legalism and even fear. I rejected the modern-day “10% Tithing” doctrine and discontinued its practice after having done quite a few studies on the topic and now firmly convinced on my position. In fact, Old Testament tithing was more complex than the man-made “10% of your income” tithe, and consisted of three different tithes practiced at different times. See ... gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/three-tithes/. For a much deeper dive on tithing check out www.tithingdebate.com which has some excellent studies, including Narramore’s free eBook “TITHING Low-Realm, Obsolete & Defunct”, and some detailed rebuttals of a few of the more well-known defenders of the false man-made Christian tithing doctrine. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to give to Christian missions, ministries and projects but reject being instructed on how, when, to who, or what I should give. Holy Spirit led giving alongside a desire to be generous is my personal position, and that will include giving of my time, gifts/talents, resources, and finances. I truly believe that the "spirit of our giving" is most important. My intention is not to offend anyone (this topic can be a bit of a sacred cow for some), BUT to point out what I see as distorted teachings and promotion of “Old Covenant legalism” within sections of the body of Christ.

We must keep the Sabbath as God commanded it. It has not changed. Read Isaiah 66:22-23 “As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the LORD, “so will your name and descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the LORD. This is after God destroys the world we live in now and makes the new heavens and earth. So let me get this right, the Sabbath was only given to Israel through Moses, which is really through God because Moses did nothing, nor did Moses command anything and then when Jesus showed up He changed His own command and said we can rest on any day we like up until He comes back and makes a new heaven and a new earth and then we have to go back to what He originally commanded.

Hello. I just want to “throw something in” The Helenistic, philosophical and mystical Egyptian influences did not come from the Apostle Paul, that is certain. He was the absolute expert on the ancient writings with Yahweh YHWH. The problem was the interpreters and translators. They literally tried not to manipulate but in the end there was the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD, that's exactly what happened This Helenistic Egyptian influence "manifested" an unbiblical dogma, doctrine of the Trinity from a 3-person GOD who does not appear at all in the Holy Scriptures, commanded! Yes, there is only! 1 GOD ABBA YAHWEH and the new risen Adam Jesus the Anointed, a human being, Christ or Messiah. From the tribe of Judah. The 1st Adam was earthly. Flesh and blood. Or spiritually one notices a living soul through Ruach, God's Spirit. The 2nd Adam is spiritual. (with a others, eternal life body.,... .none of blood...after earthly life. A spiritual body. for a believer in God of Holy Scripture. From this point of view, the Holy Scriptures with the Hebrew background provide completely new insights. The Shma is Israel still valid! But access to a personal relationship with God only represents the pure sacrificial lamb and King of all kings but at the same time high priest for eternity.Jesus Christ. Without this understanding. body Is man simply "lost" or separated from GOD after death and thus simply death without awareness. He is no more. Shalom

JOHN 14.7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Obviously this is a man in the early stages of his Bible education. Hopefully he keeps the passion. If he stays at it, he’ll realize on his own how wrong he was here.

I get it but I don't want to sleep in the grave 😭 I'm 58 and been told all my life that I'll go directly to heaven by angels. Im 💔 in a big way. It is what it is so I must accept truths even if I wish it were different. I praise King Jesus, anyways.

May I ask, how can we be sure that he didnt sit on this throne when he was exalted to God's right hand and made lord? I'm guessing because the throne he was raised to was God's throne, whoch would be a separate throne than Davids?

It is because they want to hold on to one or two of their favorite sins so they claim false humility by saying that they're a sinner. And then if you say you are a saint, they call you self-righteous. These are the tares that Jesus spoke of.

Post-70AD dating of Revelation makes it not make much sense to the recipients, especially in light of the destruction of the temple and the siege of Jerusalem, both of which tribulations have already happened by the 90s... Revelation 1:1-3 speaks of "...things that must soon take..." place. A later dating of Revelation makes it irrelevant to the recipients because "soon" does not mean much...a later dating makes John not much of a prophet or revelator - he doesn't prophesy about the biggest catastrophe of the times for the Jews (a real tribulation) and prophesies only some 20 after it has happened. I mean if Agabus prophesied the famine in Jerusalem then someone should have prophesied its siege and the destruction of the temple; those seem like a big deal.

PRETERISTS, HISTORISTS are taking away from the worst horror the world will see (Matthew 24:21), when the earth shakes to and fro like a drunkard (Isaiah 24:20), as the pit is opened (Revelation 9:2) and the locusts are released (Joel 2:25). John received the book of Revelation. Yet, he was told that he would be coming back at the end. Revelation 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy AGAIN before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. That revelation (given within the past 2 decades):

That example in Luke 15 about having joy over sinners who repent is hitting me pretty hard. I think it’s probably a mature kind of joy that serious Christians have in life more and more since it shifts from just joy over our own salvation to now the selfless joy of salvation of others.

Everything you have spoken is correct. But you're also taking out that we live in the flesh and Jesus died for our sins. I believe you are judged by t he heart when you confess. Even when you walk as he asks, doesn't mean you will never sin. Thus, we have to hate sin and ask for forgiveness every day. My brother, you lack to mention the Love of God and the Blood of Christ our the most important thing we need to confess and believe
