If you don't have the money for new sets of steel strings then take them off carefully and boil them in a pot of water. Most of the dullness you get from steel strings is due to the body grease/skin flakes in between the coils on the first three strings. Boiling gets 'most' of this out and you can extend the life considerably.

Thanks for the video. I have a model no.25 from 1975 but the top looks like laminate. It's strange because this model is supposed to have a solid top. Do you know any info about it?

Hi...I have this guitar and many times have been thinking of getting rid of it, but after playing with it for almost one year on a daily basis , the sound now is more open.Tried to use lighter strings , but the guitar sounds canny. 12-53 is the best combination, keep playing until the finger pain disappears. This guitar is very well made. Let the wood age a little bit. Will buy a dreadnought in the future but I will not sell this guitar.This guitar can be found for 100€ second hand in mint condition, and is an absolute bargain. Solid Top. The bridge is routed a la Alvarez style , providing steeper angle. Bridge and pins are rubbish, but you can upgrade to bone. Guitar finishing is awesome.
