The car that exists... Is it quite posh, and have some US sourced rumbly bits?😁 Good to see you friend.
Definitely posh, but no LSX power if thats what you're saying. US version of JDM though. Hope you're doing well old friend!
Great goals!!!❤❤❤
Off topic question: what exhaust are you running? And do you have an external mic recording the exhaust note? It sounds nice and aggressive. I can' t get my 135i to sound exciting. I have the so-called PE mod to replicate BMW's performance exhaust but just can't get much volume out. It's too quiet. Yours sound nice and loud. How did you get that? Thanks! And if you did a previous video on your exhaust mods, please point me to it.
Hey @YangSui I am still running the stock exhaust actually, but I did the 'golf too mod' to bypass the exhaust flap. I actually plan to upload a video on how to do that soon with some before and after sound clips. (There are other videos out there too if you can't wait for me) Thanks, definitely has a nice sound to it and I have no urgency to make it louder. I will likely do a catless downpipe in the future but will keep stock muffler until its a restriction. My car came with the PPK tune so it has slight burbles from the factory. I do have an external microphone to record the exhaust (DJI Mic 2 is a gamechanger). Not quite as loud inside the car obviously but plenty loud with windows down.
@Shaws_Garage Sounds great! The external mic is really making a big difference in your videos. I did the "golf-tee mod" too to keep the flap open. Still too quiet in the cabin for me. Also, nice runs.
Thanks man, definitely enhances the videos. Keep me posted on what exhaust you end up getting. 💪👍
So sick!
Mcguiars looks darker 🤟
Darker....but more slippery
Am I the only one that thinks the chrome looks better I know most other e82 switch to the black
I think you might be the only one 😆
What year is your car ?
Final year of production, 2013
Thanks great video, after watching, it dint take me time to remove and install.
Thanks man, happy to help 👍
what kinda exhaust
Stock exhaust, with golf tee mod, and the BMW PPK which adds a slight burble
Dude ive been trying to find this exact one and its impossible. I want it so bad
Be patient my friend. DO NOT settle. The right one will appear eventually.
@@Shaws_Garage im freaking out. Found the perfect one pop up, but wont have the cash until next summer :(
Maybe you can finance what you don't have in cash?
I used to think it always had that lifted tap when in reality it just not a high quality motor but I still love my gen 2 vr4
I believe the 6G72 is a high quality motor. They corrected the noisy lifters in 1999 with larger bore lifters. Simple fix if the ticking annoys you. I have a set that I will install eventually.
great good both car&driver🎉. Are you able to change the rollbars in that class?
Thanks brother! I am able to change out one of the sway/rollbars and stay in the class. That will be my next modification. Will post a video when that time comes.
@@Shaws_Garage looking forward to it!!!
Are those rims 17"? Great content by the way.
Yessir. 17" from the E46 Generation. Thank you brother 🤙🤙
They look great. Did you have any issues with its fitment? I have the same car and I would like to use the same setup
@@iasoto No fitment issues at all. They are same width as the original 135i wheels and I believe same offset. Looks better than the original wheels in my opinion. And going smaller to 17s allows some extra tire meat. Enjoy your 135i!
Yeap, they look much better than the originals. Thanks mate!
Obviously needs bigger rear sway bar probably adjustable end links. Eibach springs would take care of the wheel gap, Duh!
These are facts. Stock sway bars are too soft. Sway bar is next on my list. But I will wait to lower the car through coil overs in the future. I want to keep my car complaint with SCCA Autocross classing. Lowering the car will bump me into a higher class. Next season
Yo I’m psyched for you man! Your content and editing is top notch. From one 135 bro to another 🏁
Thank you for the support 135 brother! Aren’t these cars fun?
Yeah my build sheet is dumb. Ohlins, pures, Turner, cp-e, ETS, Whiteline, etc. Getting it all done this month! I wanna be like you!
@@DrewH-zv9iz Sounds like a nice build, enjoy it bro!
Bulletproof 400 hp daily, track capable 3 season car is what I’m going for 93 octane almost all the time.
@@DrewH-zv9iz Starting with a great base for that!
What kind of phone mount do you have on your dash?
Magnetic phone mount off the amazon a.co/d/2gTNZpJ
That's a nice Dodge Stealth now! 😂
🤣 Or a Mitsubishi El Camino
Good luck
Thanks bro
whats you phone holder? And is it a big difference between 18" and 17" wheels?
Phone holder is magnetic and from Amazon. a.co/d/9P8AS84 The difference is fitting more rubber without worrying about rubbing. And I save more money in tires. I have this set of 17s mainly for racing. I still have the stock 18s with higher tread wear tires for driving on the streets. 18s for show, 17s for go!
@@Shaws_Garage thank you. i am thinking about style 68 for street setup because i have bad roads. also, 18" look a bit big imo for e82. its small car.
@@toxicdrifter8179 You're welcome. The Style 68s look real nice on the e82, better than the stock 18s in my opinion. Also you can find them relatively cheap pre owned. I've seen people powdercoat/paint them and it adds a nice touch. Make it happen!
@@Shaws_Garage yes, i can find them around 200$. Not bad for a lightweight 17”s 😄. I like your meaty fitment, what is your tire sizes?
@@toxicdrifter8179 Definitely a great deal for lightweight good looking wheels. Tires are Bridgestone RE71RS 235/45 up front and 255/40 in the rear. Best meats you can get!
Glad you kept the mudflaps. Super rare and bloomin expensive to replace..... as i found out on my 95 MR.. £200 for an aftermarket set.
I'm glad I kept them too! Good luck with your hunt for some proper mudflaps
I have a 94 VR-4 in the same colors. Currently in the works.
Hell ya VR-4 brother!
@Shaws_Garage Man, these VR-4s are worth saving as they're becoming rarer.
How is the ride quality on the street with the Konis?
These Konis are adjustable. I max the stiffness of the Front Struts while racing. And then on the street I lower the stiffness to the softest setting. It makes quite a difference to the quality of street driving, especially over speed bumps is when you will notice. Your passenger will notice the difference too, and thank you 😁
@@Shaws_Garagewhat setting do you have your rears at?
@@adamaddams1521 I set the rears near the middle stiffness at 2.5 full turns (4 is max). Unfortunately you need to have the rear shock out of the car to make adjustments. So I decided to leave it at the medium-hard setting for street and track driving.
I have a 128i but more content on the 135 would be great to see 👍🏾 great video
Thanks! Editing new content now, will be back soon. E82 for the win
damn either this heavily modified with cooling/turbo/downpipe/exhaust, chassis mounted sway bars and an approved cage with some carbon parts like a trunk/hood/fenders/bumper....and you wouldnt ever really need "MORE" of a car...proper power to weight ratio. Though thats a bit more pricey yet equally ideal for a would be endgame build. Ive been looking at gr86...but then always circle back to the 1 series...its either one of these or a 128i with some mods to power and M parts like suspension, and the 3.64 dif. If im really anxious to get into a 1 series before i save up for a 335i and all the necessary mods to make it Long term liveable/trackable. I have an I3 as my daily...and after a year im already looking at "sports" cars or something for when i dont want to drive the EV or a nice fun weekend car. These have always had my attention they dropped around when i was getting out of highschool working for the first time back then the 1 series was such a hot car...given the weight/chassis/platform and genuine "intent" behind who/what it was intended to be on the road. A gr86 may drive nice out of the box or BRZ which body rolls more ideal as a daily. But the build quality/leather etc of a BMW is hard to pass on when considering "smol" sport coupes or a smaller sport coupe with ideally 300+ HP if not near. 2:20 my thoughts exactly...as the years passed cars got heavier....more "AIDS" which just wind up getting turned off in the name of speed/usable speed mid corner...and more "sophisticated" engine "dynamics" and the piping/engine bay space to work...that comes with it too SMDH NEW BMW are fly by wire 300 FT pounds of torque at 1500rpm for casuals that have no say/ability to determine how "intuitive" a car should be/feel...driving 4300 pound "toys" with more invested in driver aids to make them "FEEL" like a good driver than needs to remotely be engineered/installed on a car.
Sounds like we’re on the same page brother. Don’t hesitate, get yourself a 135i. Don’t mess with the 86. Good cars but not as much fun as the 135i. It has the perfect power to weight. Turbo fun. Easy to make suspension stiffer. Can add power whenever you want. It’s the modern day tuner dream. DO IT!
Thanks, just did the swap on my E82 135i, factory ones where pretty tight, but they came out with a bit of force. No clips broke. Cheers.
Happy to help brother!
Man, I wish it were that easy for mine. I'm muscling it so hard that the plastic surround to the kidney grilles is flexing about a quarter inch. Maybe my clips are more secure than others? I think I better do it the long way to be sure I don't break anything. Thanks for sharing your technique, though. I would have liked to do it your easy way.
Sorry to hear this didnt work for you. Maybe if you use a heat gun or blow dryer to warm up the area it could work? I live in Florida so its always hot or warm, so that have helped me. But trust your gut not worth getting damage if you sense it.
@@Shaws_Garage Good idea. I tried it today while it was a bit colder than usual, which may have been a factor. Sun's out now, and the temps are rising. Maybe I'll take it out of the garage and sit it in the sun for a while and try again. And/or get out the hair dryer. Thanks for the quick reply!
Smooth man🎉. When is the LSD arriving? What size tires u running and do you find u are badly wanting more front rubber? 🙏🏾
Thanks bro. Maybe Santa will bring me an LSD for Christmas?? 🎅 🎄 I am planning to keep the car in the FS SCCA Class for the rest of the season so there are a small amount of mods that are legal. Sway bar will likely be the next mod. The LSD will take me into a different class so that will wait until next season. At that point I can go for a more aggressive wheel/tire setup as well as address more suspension components. Currently I am running 225/45/17 Falken RT660s up front with 255/40/17 Bridgestone RE71RS in the rear. In this video I had the previous model Bridgestone RE71R. I just swapped to the new Bridgestones 2 months ago. 235 should fit up front and I will go with that setup later this year as these Falkens are already low on tread after 1.5 seasons. I really would like more front rubber but that is part of the E82 life. 245 is all that I want and I wont be able to maximize that on the 7.5 inch front wheels, so its not worth it right now. Will try and do a square setup at 245 next year when I can increase clearance with camber mods and get new wheels. What you running on yours?
That BOV is wild. My Evo 9 valve is about 1/10 as loud. Where and what is your microphone? In the engine bay?
I used a Sony Audio Recorder (ICDUX570BLK) with lavalier microphone in the engine bay between battery and blow off valve. Doesn't sound as loud from inside the cabin. It is routed to open atmosphere, is your Evo 9 open or recirculating?
@@Shaws_Garage Recirc on mine. Stock MAF. Maybe someday I'll install that ARC 2.
Stock MAF as well. My car runs fine on open, I know some people have issues running rich and stumbling or stalling between shifts. My old 92 VR4 acted like that, but not with this one. Knock on wood
Hey man sick video! Im making a 3000gt exhaust compilation video and was wondering if I could use a clip from this in it? You would be fully credited!
Thanks broski, sure thing!
how difficult are these to work on? Want one so bad!
Not as difficult as people make them out to be, but I don’t recommend you buying one that needs a lot of work done to it. Spend the extra money up front for a lower mileage car that doesn’t have major issues. If you get one that’s already broken you will not enjoy it. Just like any car, if it is maintained properly it will last a long time. Maintenance isn’t too bad on these cars if you do your research.
ive had mine for 8months and have had to do a bunch of work including dropping the trans out, i never understood the hate for working on em cause they really arent much harder than any other car
Yep, get a nice one you won't regret. My 98 vr4 has been an absolute pleasure to own, race, and work on for the last 13 years.
Did you have the suspension in sport?
My first lap of the session it was in Tour, but then I switched to Sport for the remaining laps. You can feel a difference even though its 29 year old tech 😲😎
@@Shaws_Garage I autocrossed at 95 SL. The sport button did great.
The way my jaw dropped when you shifted in the intro
😲
Beatiful car👌🏼
Thank you 👍👍
Sounds so good. I hope to have a VR4 or mr gto in the future
Make it happen!
Nice job! Did you change the spring as well? I've got the M-sport springs and wondering if I get the Eibach springs with the kit or just the koni's themselves.
Thanks bro. I used my stock M-sport springs with the Konis. I decided to go this route to maintain my SCCA F Street Class for autocross. Adding springs would take me into a higher class. Down the road I will move onto a set of coilovers when I'm ready for a more aggressive setup. If you are wanting a lower ride height then change out the springs, as you will not get any lower by swapping out just the struts/shocks. Also will be easier to assemble since you can leave the stock springs with the stock struts. Good luck!
try perl at 5:1 for interior items
Thanks chief will try it out!
This is good when it's not freezing outside or if you have a heated garage. I prefer a quicker way though so I just use spray nine nine solution, brush it aggressively then wipe it with scotts blue towels. i dry it after with a blower and apply a non-slip black dressing. ;)
I live in Florida so it’s never freezing. 😁 Diluting the product is key to avoiding a slick surface. Thanks for the feedback, always looking for new products so will check it out.

Love the Le Mans Blue! Was going to get the color but changed my mind for the Space Grey. My 3000GT is blue so didn’t want to have too many blue cars 😄 Around 20k sounds about right for that spec/miles especially if we’ll maintained like yours sounds. Can’t beat the formula. 6 cylinder Turbo 6 speed manual Hydraulic steering RWD (Just missing the LSD) I continue to outpace other “more capable” cars on the Autocross tracks. This car is sneaky fast and very well balanced. It has some under steer but is very capable with proper tires and minor modifications. Front sway bar is on my horizon soon to help out. Definitely an investment car. Never sell yours!

Interesting
People who keep these cars on the road really have a special place in my heart
Thanks brother!
I’m looking at buying a 135. Are you a taller person if so do you feel comfortable daily driving this model?
I am 6'2" and am very comfortable daily driving my 135i. It has a lot of headroom, most BMWs are designed as such. Go for it!
Hey been checking out your vids, just got a 93 VR4 my self. I'm also in South FL on the West coast, you in the Miami area? Sick cars!
Thanks bro and congrats on acquiring a VR4! I am in Ft Lauderdale but go to Miami for events. Hit me up when you're on this side!
2011 135 owner here. I highly recommend upgrading all of the turbo piping to metal, along with a bigger intercooler. Then when you want more power, all you'll have to do is put on a downpipe and do MHD 2+
Appreciate the advice fellow 1er. Will follow that plan when I’m ready to take the power to the next level. Have you happen to run any 1/4 mile times with that setup?
from what ive seen this with a turbo/swap/upgrade...and upgrades to fuel application/management....are the most ideal mods if you want to "DAILY" drive or have a streetable 135....while also having ideal track viability/longevity. On the stock setup...youll push the cooling system/turbos pretty hard...and it ends up doing all sorts of damage/degradation across the powertrain. But springs leaks, causes other things to affect tune etc and so on. Possibly to do a few laps/benchmark some mods/tunes sure....but a large track session will eventually eat into your engine/cooling system/turbos. Leading to you having to do these mods/upgrades regardless.
Invest in some Michelin pilot sport 4s, have good experience with them on the eclipse.
Those would certainly be an upgrade for the car. I am a big fan of the Bridgestone RE71R/RS. Which is usually in line with Michelin performance. Can’t go wrong with either one. Hope to add an eclipse to my stable soon. Don’t ever sell yours!
Nice wheels
Thanks broski!
Thats an automatic? Howd you do it
Yep its the A650E 5 speed automatic. Came with the 98+ SC400s
Sick cars 🚗
That car can do it but not do it greatly. Even a supra or sc300 400 same boat.. it's heavy.. a stock s2000 beat it..a stock turbo wrx turbo solstice rx7.. that car kills the freeway pulls.. iv had one...
The car CAN do it greatly! Keep in mind I am driving on a Go Kart track, with original 28 year old suspension and 340tw tires. Of course a Honda S2000 (a roadster) with a decade of engineering, better tire technology and over 1000lbs less would be better on a Go Kart track. I still put up better times than most cars out there including S2000 and WRX. Driver mod is most important. The VR4 is faster than all the cars you mentioned in a 1/4 mile and on a full track. And looks better than them all 😁
I had a problem with my trans blowing up at 450hp. But I was a Yung driver at time and was very aggressive with it. It would blow up the lower gears
Sick!!!!!!!!! Vr4 is way cooler though
Thanks bro I agree!!!
