This is every reason for Irish not to support dictators like Trump, Elon Musk, the Republicans and Billionaires that want an oligarchy and dictatorship and be fighting for more than this, a better country and world. Comparing between the blacks and Irish is not the way to go and will not help!

Didn't Irish servant's go on by England for 1000 plus years? And discriminated and taken advantage against in many countries especially America throughout the years and wasn't it much worse for Irish protestants by the Catholics in England and Ireland? Not saying Africans and blacks didn't have it worse! The Irish certainly never had it good and for those that were poor it was so much worse. And most were denied decent educations. I dont know too much about the history but I believe this is mostly correct. Of course African Americans have had it much worse and can't be compared. Poor treatment of the Irish should and cannot be ignored!

Well said. The "Irish slaves" myth took off after the Ferguson uprising, in an attempt by white supremacists to play down the black experience of slavery: before then hardly anyone had heard of it. Indenture wasn't just a (temporary) penal status or a resort of the poorest: in England it was routinely entered to as a means to gain occupational experience and skills - in effect, an apprenticeship for subsequent employment or independent trade, usually for a term of around seven years: indeed it's been credited with a part in building a skilled and higher-earning workforce and contributing to the subsequent onset of the industrial revolution. Slavery's about as different as it gets: slaves didn't enjoy legal protections, couldn't look forward to the expiry of their labour term, and weren't paid off with cash or land (as generally were indentured workers) at the end of their term. Ireland has plenty of legitimate grievances against English rule: "Irish slaves" isn't one of them. Re the Peasants' Revolt, 80,000 sounds like a population figure (probably slightly high) for London before the Black Death. England then had at least 2¼ million people: we know that because records survive of the number liable for the poll tax that provoked it. Before 1348 there were probably around 4 million. Serfdom had begun declining before 1300 as rising prices and abundant workers tempted lords to shift to wage labour: the plague accelerated its demise rather than starting it, with peasants in a stronger position as tenants were needed for vacant holdings.

It's in the Turah. That the negroes are indeed the true chosen people of the scriptures. Because people don't read from the beginning of the scriptures in the way theu would read a novel, from the beginning of it word to word line to line page to page book to book without skipping anything all the way to the end. They'll never know the mysteries in the scriptures. It was said in the scriptures that these people would be endlaved and never be up or prosper in the Land of their oppressors.

Forgive me for this, but while I appreciate the effort put into the video, I found myself struggling to stay engaged. The tone and style of delivery felt more like reading a manual for a heavily discounted appliance than conveying the grandeur and impact of Lully's work. Perhaps a touch of guarded passion and a more sober approach could better capture the essence of such a brilliant composer?

But knowing more and more about him, just as you suggested, helps develop a real connection. It's nice to see even people in the past were willing to challenge the irrational loud mouths of their era... who found a way to profit handsomely from popular contemporary hysterias. And before anyone laughs at how superstitious and silly people were in the past, tell me the differences between Greta Thunberg screaming about global warming and Matthew Hopkins screaming about witches? They both believe in their messages. They have a fanbase. And people wholly believe what they say. And everyone reading this has strong opinions about the climate, right? See how hard it is to NOT be sucked into the hysteria game? It does not matter if the hysteria is generated from witches, weather, or wealth distribution.... the only requirement is to make us afraid and keep us there.
