I was so fortunate to see you perform in England when I met you for the first time in 1972 and then in my homeland, South Africa when you toured our major cities! Quincy Jones' fantastic production is no substitute for the pure unadulterated perfection of Lesley singing live! Compare this performance of "You Don't Own Me" to the record and tell me I'm wrong! Who needs double-tracked vocals? Not Lesley, that's for sure!

I know,I know Les sounds so much like pet but pet made a lot more money than Les and besides that there was her producer Quincy jones who should have gotten a lot more attention her way but unfortunately the Michael Jackson’s of the world was a far bigger priority and like a Gary Lewis performers like Les were on their way out no matter how much talent they had!

I always loved Lesley Gore. I was surprised to see her at Six Flags in NJ in the 90s. They announced Chubby Checker was going to be on in a few minutes...and then there she was...after the cover band.
