Antikythera mechanism planetary system (3d modeled in Cinema 4D R19 and processed in Unity Pro 6.x)
The main concern of this research was if Antikythera mechanism could possibly be a geocentric planetarium apart from an accurate astronomical counter.
The selection of the involved gears was based on astronomical relations and historical records of ancient Babylonians to achieve the maximum accuracy in planetary synodic cycles. Moreover, this presented model is the first of its kind which approaches so close the inequalities of Mercury and Mars retrograde loops.
This research was a part of my PhD dissertation which was completed in 2020 and was fully supported from my Supervisor prof. of the University of the Aegean, Pavlogeorgatos Gerasimos
