At the moment this channel is just my videos from my dinghy cruise to Norway, but maybe I might try making some other videos in the future. I am a boatbuilder and naval architect/designer so I do have a few projects on the go that might interest anyone interested in dinghy cruising.
Day 106. Dinghy cruising up a Norwegian Fjord
Day 106 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain.
After 106 days on my cruising dinghy I arrived at my final destination in Norway, and could haul Fandango out the water into the boathouse that will be her new home.

Day 104 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. A very boring day of sailing in light winds under grey skies. Our final destination was Håholmen, a small island amongst a lovely archipelago. I wish I could have explored them more thoroughly.

Day 101 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. The weather was showing off the stunning Norwegian coastline to best effect, but the lack of wind made it a frustrating and tiring day, mostly spent rowing. The wind died again completely as the sun set so I had to row the last few miles. Overall I rowed about 15 miles. The forecast for the next day was even...

Day 100 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. We left Måløy in drizzle and light winds heading for the Stad Peninsular. The Stad has a fearsome reputation amongst every Norwegian seafarer I have ever met, but it was an easy rounding with stunning scenery. It's actually a very simple headland in terms of navigation because the tides are minimal, but it's...

Day 98 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. Another overcast day with a fresh breeze for sailing along the Norwegian coast. This time from Bulandet to Florø. It was the first time since arriving in Norway that I had been somewhere with a decent number of shops so I was able to restock my supplies.

Day 97 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. I spent a day recovering in Fedje after crossing the north sea, and was assisted in drying my clothes by a very friendly man from the Fedje sea fishing club. After a couple of night s of good sleep I set off again to the north, aiming for Nikoy harbour in the Bulandet Islands.

Day 94 and 95 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. The big one! From Bruray (Outer Skerries of Shetland), to Fedje (Small Norwegian island north of Bergen). Having watched a series of gales blow across northern Scotland throughout August weather windows for crossing the North Sea were in short supply, but a couple of days looked acceptable. After blowi...

Day 29 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. It was too windy to venture round Lands End, so I opted for a short hop around the coast from Newly to Lamorna cove so we could attack Lands End the next day..

Day 30 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. After delaying for a day to let some strong wind blow through, I set off around lands end in boisterous conditions. We made it safely into St Ives early in the afternoon where we found small fish and jellyfish in the boat from where we took a few large waves on board.

Day 93 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. After a few days sheltering from strong winds in Lerwick I made the hop to Bruray (Outer skerries), to prepare for crossing the north sea to Norway. The tide was ripping out the Southern channel but we were able to fight through to a sheltered anchorage between the islands. In hindsight I should have gone rou...
Day 89. Dinghy cruising from Fair Isle to Shetland

Day 89 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. Beautiful sunshine, but large residual waves and not a lot of wind made for a frustrating passage from Fair Isle to Lerwick. Once it got dark the wind died completely and it was very difficult to row because of the large waves in the dark. Eventually we made it to Lerwick harbour at 2am.
Day 88. Fair Isle in a cruising dinghy

Day 82 of my dinghy cruise from Ipswich to Norway via the west coast of Great Britain. After another day sheltering on Sanday I made the best of a marginal weather window to hop across to Fair Isle (The most remote inhabited island of Britain). Visibility was very low so it was a relief to see the cliffs emerging out the mist.
