Hi is live stream working?
Why are the songs so dreary? They lack any memorable melody neither do the words scan. If they were sung to Anglican chant there would be hope true congregational participation. Does the congregation join in singing? Songs are an important feature of the service, but if the congregation does not/cannot join in, it becomes little more than a concert. And is quality of the performance and content sufficient to carry this burden? Might it be better to sing scripture, especially the psalms, rather than the sometimes questionable lyrics of contemporary writers?
Hi Michael. You must be related to our wonderful Kemps and Robertses. Thanks for your comments on our service. It's probably not clear in our online videos, but we're all joyfully singing along with the band. We find that as the songs become more familiar they're a lovely way to worship Jesus. You are completely welcome to visit us any time. Paul.
@@thewellswindon Paul, you are quite right. I am Luke and Beccy's father. Now in my eighties and disabled, I also have Parkinson's, but in the past have been much involved in church music: in fact it was as a choirboy that I first had an apprehension of Jesus as my Saviour. I was not trying to be critical, though possibly a little provocative, and certainly take your point about greater familiarity with songs encouraging greater participation. Lack of mobility works against personal attendance at The Well, but we value being "flies on the wall". Why not introduce one or two Ishmael style scripture songs; easy to play (3 chords), simple enough for a child to remember? Just a thought! May the Lord continue to guide your steps at Taw Hill.
Inspiring and moving sermon, thank you Abby. Well done!
