6i Full Swing
Working on PP5 to get more pitched elbow. These swings were without the Pipoe, but over the last week, I've tried to incorporate it into my practice sessions to get my elbows closer together. I'm seeing some nice improvements, but I need to still work on how I load the shaft with my left arm from A2 to A4.
In the practice rehearsal swings, which I left into the first minute of today's upload, you can see I have a nice shaft geo at A4... But when I swing at the ball - and make a real swing, the shaft gets laid off at the top and my wrist is bowed.
The other key for me is keeping Key #2 - weight forward.... This was pointed out by mvmac, and working on keeping that leftside on ...

September 9th, 2013 6i Practice Session Incorporated the Pipoe - to help with keeping my right elbow and left elbow spacing tighter. Very difficult to swing more than about 1/3 speed - and keep the Pipoe from flying out from between my elbows at impact. Going to keep working on this throughout the rest of 2013, and see where it takes me.

Getting back at it. Striking the ball better in the last week... Working on right and left leg action... Needs more work to get the pressure in the right side on the takeaway, and then transferring to the left without falling off the wall. But I like the way I'm hitting the ball right now more dynamic loft which results in higher longer softer carrying/landing shots into greens.
how far out did you aim are you still using aimpoint
Meandering, and very poorly explained.
Shawn, left arm was not extended at follow thru, but finish position was great with belt buckle farest from the body.
Hi Shawn, do you still follow SnT swing?
THIS IS GREAT ! THAHN YOU👍🏾
This was a pleasure to watch. I wish there was a part 2. Would love to hear Grant explain the downswing . Thanks for sharing.
Grant seems like a great coach! But I wish the student was more open minded
As a lefty also playing as a righty, I feel your pain. Lefties tend to want to wallop the ball and I have the same issue that you showed here - arms kept going behind you, but mine is uglier -- behind and shallow. I've had other instructors who ignored it -- we're talking 10 years. Today, I had my 8 yr old for 2 hours tell me when to stop my arms... This vid is much appreciated and helpful. I can actually make a good backswing in a mirror, but on the course, it's tough - which is why the 8 yr old hounded me today. I am digging my right elbow into my ribcage and just turning steeper and the arms are along for the ride. Grant showing you to turn steeper with your arms remaining in front of the chest is a help. It's just a more compact swing. Now I've got the steeps coming down after compacting the backswing, and am learning to shallow out... one piece at a time... Thanks again.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
You have awesome swing! I like that :))
this will give you a much better impact position with the left arm club more in a straight line with a forward leaning shaft enabling you to compress the ball giving you a much better strike with better trajectory and consistently centered strike = accuracy + distance. Hope this helps, would definitely get your grip checked paying particular attention to just where in the left hand it lies, often too much bowing at the top is often because it's in the palm of the hand too much and not enough
facing the target. Currently you get a bit stuck on your right side thru impact, upper body a little behind the ball not covering it which gives you a slight collapse of your left arm as your left hip doesn't clear totally gives the impression of helping the ball up a bit. I'd like to see you definitely start your downswing left foot left knee ,hips, navel moving left, puts your torso more over the ball so when your right elbow collects your right hip you can turn through clearing your left hip
Good tempo, just a view observations (difficult not knowing exactly how you grip), but for me with 6i would like to see the ball 1 ball back and right foot not so splayed backwards, not a complete 90 but between that and where you are now. Would like to see you take the club back to be over your right shoulder tip more and not so deep behind you, start downswing with left knee getting back over ankle and belt buckle (navel) moving few inches left whilst feeling your back/shoulders pause still
Dam good stuff it confirms what I've been working on, well done. Lets here more from you I accidentally stumbled unto the
If you got a good grandmother, you could ! ...but I was just joking !
My swing has changed a little since this video. I'm trying to have less 'thrust' in the downswing to get my turning rates back on track.
Ha! I'm a short guy measuring 5'8"... Unfortunately a lot of golf pants that you buy are one length (~ 32")... I guess I need to get them shortened?! :)
take them to a tailor
Only one thing to say: your pants are way too long ! Good swing, though !
Even though its a soft wedge shot try to finish your follow through naturally
Great Video Shawn! Really clears up a lot of things!
Hey Shawn, At 4:45 I heard you and grant talking about your wrist position and how it was bowed and how he wanted it to become flat. Funny thing, I have the same problem with my left wrist bowing and I hit low hooks because of it and it causes lots of inconsistency. I was wondering if Grant recommended anything else to fix your bowed wrist?
Please tell! :P
Nice shoes. I know what your next piece is (nice motion though).
These swings were from October... And my address is different and balance is a lot better. I'm too far away from the ball here... I need to be closer.
KMAN, thanks for the kind comments. I appreciate it. To be honest, I think my swing is even better in my more recent swings. I'm still making changes and getting better. I use Evolvr for online lessons and they are awesome. Highly recommended. Grant and Joe Mayo were great to work with at their clinic last Spring. They use Trackman to look at your numbers and then make recommendations on changes. My swing was so bad then... It's getting better. Highly recommend Grant as an instructor!
Wow! Your swing has improved a lot since your video with Grant Waite! How was working with Grant Waite?
Brendon, thanks for the comment. I agree that I need to monitor the forward shaft lean at address. I tend to do that to feel pp#3 in my trigger finger at address. Helps me get a feel for Impact Fix.
shaft is leaning forward a lot at address, this can make you pull it. awesome at top
Hahhaha, Rory, thanks for the comments. I'm a hack golfer who is trying to get better. Thanks for watching and commenting on my swing. I'll use it for motivation.
Why do you show off like that and you don't even have a good swing ?? Just calm down guy you're not tiger
Hi dschultz - thanks for checking out my video. No I haven't experimented with cupping my left wrist at A4. I've been told my wrist 'bowes' at the top, but was told there are other priorities that I needed to work on before I really worried about cleaning it up. I'm trying to figure out how to clean up my pivot - in particular my right leg/foot. I want it to bank (foot) and my knee to stop kicking in and breaking down toward the ball at impact.
Thanks for the comment. Grant is an amazing instructor. I'd highly recommend anyone interested in seriously improving their golf game to seek him out as an instructor. He is a great communicator, and helped me in the day we spent together this past spring.
Great Video. It's too bad the camera mic doesn't have wind protection. The wind was pretty strong at a couple points when Grant was sharing some key knowledge. But still very good....I've heard good things about Grant. If you see him again....make him take his driver and bump the ball off his toe, off his thigh, and into his hand...seen him do it at a Nationwide event a few years back
work on follow through and get your head up, dont let your head or chin drop :)
