Beautiful.
Good song, but you should maybe lay off the ai album covers
hahaha ok noted : )
Would you recommend fisherman's pickups for a mandolin?
I've never used a Fishman for mandolin... I recommend a K&K Mandolin Twin + an LR Baggs Venue DI... you will get great, useable tone, in every venue, every time. You've got to learn to use the DI/EQ though. Blending it with a mic whenever possible is also good, but the K&K does a decent job on it's own.
Yes I can relate to the chord shapes. I was looking the other week and I was really surprised how much you can carry over from acoustic guitar to mandolin and also banjo. I'm thinking of buying birth and mandolin and a banjo
❤
Moving too fast for me. Bye
Fair enough. We'll miss u : )
A lot of Prine in there! ❤
Thanks! I just got a LOAR in vintage brown. The perfling on it is gorgeous Well made, like an Eastman 305!
perfect!
How am I the 10th comment….
@@DaneWarren thanks for listening! 🙏
Great tune, thanks
Thank you so much! You are an excellent teacher
Wonderful cover
Is that the same cord's as a resonator bouzouki?
Underrated.
Not to mention, the bar bands and venue bands are frankly opposites. Bars what you to play songs everyone knows. Stuff that has mass appeal. Original music should be sprinkled in, not the main focus. Becoming a touring band off of a "bar set" is almost impossible. Venue bands need to be focused on original music. Yes, you can go the tribute band route, but theres a limit to how far that can take you. However, getting off the ground with just original music is really tough too. Basically, cover band/bar sets make it easy to get started but make it very hard to grow. Venue bands are super hard to get started, but once you get rolling, it's not so bad.
Yea, the bar band ceiling is real. It’s a chicken/egg deal…
Love it what a great song and love the tongue in cheek here. We all know people who are all hat and no cattle. Love it keep up the great work!
Thanks hoss! 🙏🤘
Important note: Keep the “real” job while doing your first dozen or so gigs so you can gauge how consistent it will be, and judge your own habits to ensure you’re not actually spending MORE money at the gig. (drinks, food, travel, whatever it happens to be) I love the idea that it’s within reach, but you should always chase your dreams with a safety net beneath you 😊
Yes! More like your first 100 gigs!
@@jemmermusic even better! In an ideal world it wouldn’t be so tough to make a living out of creative endeavors that you’ve already spent years practicing, but this world is far from ideal.
Be born into money
That helps!
You forgot a cardinal rule: Don't be a bassist
What? Bands are often looking for good bassists they’re hard to find. If you’re good you’ll get a lot of work.
I had a friend who used to make $900/day playing bass in a CO resort town… 3 gigs a day… the only problem was the down seasons when tourism slowed. He was an excellent player though- he could’ve made it anywhere.
Better idea. Play so badly that people pay you a thousand a week to not play.
@@cttommy73 now you’re thinking outside the box : )
It’s toe tapper, and the lyrics are great!
Great songwriting JXson & I love your voice ! Well done as always 🌸😎
Thanks so much, Suzzanne! How's things in CO?
Great. Straight up and on point.
“Fishing for a cactus at the tumbleweed yacht club” that’s good stuff right there
Hey thanks maaaaaaaaan!!
I'm guessing you know that the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park is also dry.
Hey Jim! I didn’t know, but I’m not surprised…
Thank you very much! I can see myself referring back to this video, as I progress on my mandolin journey. (I just bought a mandolin, so I am a beginner - but I had taken guitar lessons for 2 months, so I know the basics for this type of string instrument. It is nice to see how to move the shapes)!
Just sat down for the first time with a mandolin and love your tutorials❗️ So many song possibilities with 3 chords❗️🥳
are there any 3 finger chords?
Sounds great, all around but ….the Federales did NOT let Pancho slip away. You rightfully credit TVZ, now get the lyrics right, please. Changes the story…
Oh man, you're right! Good catch Richard. I am embarrassed to admit that I hadn't noticed that twist in the lyric- seems so obvious now... Thanks for letting me know! I will get it right in all future versions : )
@@jemmermusic Thanks so much, Jackson. Emmylou was the first to use the slip away for the rhyme, and great as she is it started something. Most people think I make way to big a deal of it...glad you appreciate the real story, it is a classic. And love your sound...subscribed now.
My tip: put your socks and jocks in for extra internal padding
I've been playing guitar for several years... and just got my first mandolin for my birthday! Already learned my first 3 chords thanks to your video :)
Love your music, waiting for the next album!
Put a mom TSA lock on the hard case then out that in a soft case with a TSA lock on it
They have collapsible guitars too have you tried em?
Do not loosen your guitar strings
Thanks! I just double checked this advice w a good acoustic shop and found out all the manufacturers ship their guitars tuned to standard- so I’m done detuning! Thanks again!
I thought he was going to teach us how to achieve levitation with a stringed instrument for a moment there💀
Disappointment 😔
Instructions unclear. I forgot to put the guitar in so now I have a guitar case with a business card and an air tag in it...
These jokes are getting out of hand
Luthier here. don’t loosen your strings when flying. it’s a complete BS myth, that can sometimes cause issues. instead, fly with a humidipak. i service many guitars from people who fly consistently, and them having their strings at tension when flying causes no issues, it actually PREVENTS issues. what DOES cause issues though, is when you loosen the strings, arrive at your destination, and then realize your neck is all wonky because you loosened your strings like a nimrod and then forgot your truss rod adjustment key, and now have to play your gig with your messed up guitar. the neck is held in position by two forces, the string tension, and the truss rod; mess with one, it tends to mess up the other. the only people who perpetuate this myth are old head luthiers/techs who don’t listen to modern science and research. a basic google search will tell you, this is useless. remember kids, just because someone says something, doesn’t mean it’s true; trust science. sick guitar case though !
Thanks for this info! I just slack the strings in case a TSA agent or baggage handler w too much free time decides to pull my guitar out for a jam… I want it to be 0% fun to play when they open the case. Probably overkill… 😂
Also, please post a link to the science you’re referencing. Thanks!
@@jemmermusic i’ve ordered $4000+ acoustic guitars personally for myself, and everytime, without fail, they come in E standard and nothing is wrong, and it actually prevents the wrongs. if Santa Cruz, Bourgeois, Atkins, and Collings all ship out in E standard, and those boutique companies advise against detuning the guitar for shipment, i would heavily take that advice. even without being a student and knowing the science.
@@FlatpickRei Thanks for the info Rei. I just double checked this advice w a good acoustic shop and confirmed that all the manufacturers ship their guitars tuned to standard- so I’m done detuning! I love learning new things. Thanks again!
@@jemmermusic of course! no problem :)
Get a Journey, done lol
Just looked them up. Interesting... prob not for me.
Check out the song 🎶 United Breaks Guitars 🎶
Rule#1: Don't fly United because United Breaks Guitars
I just flew United yesterday. Had to gate check my guitar. They took great care of it. : )
@@jemmermusicGuess they learned their lesson, then!
If that’s a Hoffee case, it’s $1000
I bought it used for $800. It’s saved my guitar 50+ times at this point. Worth every penny.
It didn’t work… I fell 3 stories, broke both my legs and my guitar
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 A+ x1000
😂
Damn that means you need to try again until you see a light and then follow it and never look back aiden
I would have mounted the air tag INSIDE the sound hole after de-tuning
Cool idea- I’m guessing painters tape might be the best bet for that… have you tried it?
@@jemmermusic I think when the wife and I go down to Florida for a getaway next month, I’m bringing my go to acoustic (Taylor gs mini Koa LH) even tho it’s a compact guitar I don’t think it’ll fit above me on the airline we are taking so I’m definitely going to pop one Inside of it and see if it holds up.. I’ll definitely let you know! 🤘🏻 can’t be too careful out there
