Caught up with the manga, it goes crazy and I'm loving it XD. Spoiler: she was made that way intentionally. And all mina after her are made that way, she's the mold. The programmer and the CEO of the company want to integrate Robots as a second intelligent species of earth. So no, they don't want them to become humans, neither Robots want to become humans they just want to fulfill their purpose that is generally be useful.

They did explained why Mina is a bit different in the Manga, I think that's not lazy writing, just a bit forshadowing

My interpretation of her occurrences of doing things that make no sense to her is the story showing that she is becoming a little more human. In this case, she doing things for Takuma that she wouldn't normally do because her programing would tell her not to, but she does it anyway.

The cats in this universe are mostly just like other cats. The manga explains it more as the chapter progresses. The akaneko crew are some of the cats that can speak human language because they need or want to. They hire trained cats who wants to work through connection, that connection is also responsible to train such cats (it will be spoilers to explain further). Hana in the manga explains that not every cat will learn human language because they get anything they need just by meowing 😂. But yeah, simply put they are just cats who learned to speak and wants to work like human, each with their own motivation to do so. The manga is very wholesome. While the anime doesn't look really good at times because of the CG, the voice actors did their best to bring the vibe, I kinda like it.

Ok, I am not trying to critic on this brand-new anime adaption manga based, because I know they animated so hard, and I appreciated that. Overall, the first four episodes were on FIREE, if I am being generous here. The only problem with this anime, and all other popular anime-based manga adaption is CENSORSHIP. And I hate that. Like, BRUUHHHH!!!! The Censorship got REAL HARD on the sock incident in ep 1, I just do not get it why this stupid industry had to somehow remove that special scene in the panel where some students comes in the class while Kuze and Alya in the window. But in the official anime, COME ON MAN! A CHAIR scene!?!? That is some stupid otaku MC in every school anime. Where is the scene where Alya and Kuze in the window behind the curtains huh!?!? I hate Censorship, back then it didn't even exist yet!

To be honest, I didn't like this first episode at all when I saw it, but I totally get why you did, which I think means you're a good writer haha

As Bug observes, Mina acts very much like the AI's in today's world. When the sister asks Mina if she is in love with Takuma, Mina says she doesn't know how to answer that question because she doesn't feel any such emotion. Mina is very self aware that she was made to be a household appliance and she sees that as her duty, to make Takuma happy. But if my Rice cooker could put out a meal like Mina, she would immediately be Number 1 in my heart.
