YASS, ONE OF MY LIFE GOALS COMPLETED! I FOUND THE NAME OF THIS SONG!
How do you make it?
Dude that amp sounds so good. Dripping with 80’s punch. I’m buying one and a custom guitar from Splawn!
sounds great! I have a Dirty Shirley as well, aweome amp! Looking hard at building a LP jr from them..
Is it the 59' Custom or the straight 59' carved top?
Is it a one or two piece body? Did you get the ultralight mahogany?
That thing sounds spectacular.... I can't decide which Splawn I want. The demo's on YT of anything other than the Nitro, and the occasional Quickrod, are VERY few and far between. But, I'd like to have a lower wattage (and smaller) version of the QR if one exists. Is there a clean channel on this?
Yes there is. I don’t use it much but with single coils it sounds pretty nice. High output humbuckers push it too hard.
@@trevorcolm9194 Thank you. If it sounds good with single-coils, then that's plenty, with how I would use it. This was a great, much-needed demo. Thanks again...
How did you find scraping the binding. I want to buy one, but that's the bit that's intimidating me
Headphones on I can tell it’s a good one.
Is that el34 or 6l6?
34 6l6 is 22 watt
Nice job Trevor,I’ve watched your video several times and decided to give this kit a shot,my question to you is what was the neck fit like, were you able to pick it up without the neck coming from the body (dry fit,not glued) or was just that precise that the glue would do the trick (I’m not decided about which glue, but maybe ) thanks for any info you can give
Looks great and sounds good too.
I like your guitar! Is that kit with the Bareknuckles Nailbomb pickups? If so, is the bridge pickup Anico V or ceramic? Those are pretty hot.
Yes it is! They are both alnico Vs
Great demo! What speakers are in the cab? How do you like the clean channel?
The speakers are celestial cream back 65s. The clean channel is good with single coils and lower output humbuckers. TBH I rarely use it.
Question: Is the body mahogany, top maple, and neck also maple?
Yes exactly
That’s killer man
Sounds killer🤘🏻
Bad ass amp Love Scott’s amps and guitars
Feel the difference in glues? Can you explain that a bit more. Feel the difference in finishes (oil, nitro vs poly) absolutely, hear the difference in finishes, maybe, but I've never heard anyone say they could hear/feel the differences in glue before. Tease that out a bit more please.
Just finished an LP Jr. build from PGK myself and it is an absolute beast
What brand did you used to stain your guitar?
what is the brand of the stain paint?
Choice of glue is irrelevant to playability & tone. Glues aren't "special."
Acrylic resin actually makes a stronger and more resonant bond between body and neck as well as between body segments. Hyde glues never fully harden and are effected by extreme temperature changes. Acrylic gardens to an almost glass hardness and remains stable from 50 below zero to 150 above.
Great amp, I had Scott make me one fully loaded with all of the available options and a solo boost and kept both Speaker outs. I've been gigging it for the last 2 years in a Classic rock band and it constantly makes me smile. Scott told me the mid cut is a mid shift , raise the treble a bit and it sounds killer. I usually run mine in Gear one with the gain around 10:30 and boost it, it makes it a little less 'stiff" feeling. the solo boost automatically kicks on OD2 so it really is a solo boost. I have mine tubed with JJ EL34II's and NOS RFT's and Mullards in the preamp and it just kills. More versatile than you'd think. I run a Fractal FXII effect board in 4CM and I cover a huge range of tones. Scumback M75/J75's in my Splawn cab. Haven't even looked at another amp since I got it.
Nice! So he built you one with the solo boost NOT in one of the speaker out? Cause that was my main concern as I need both output.
@@bengirard1984 yes I still have both speaker outs + the solo boost :)
@@kmanick107 Awesome! Thanks! :)
You just confirmed what I already knew from looking at their website. You can literally make a better than Gibson or Fender guitar. I really wish there were better fingerboard wood options, though. I offered to send them a board that I wsnt to use, but they won’t go for that. Life is a series of compromises.
That's awesome!! :) Could've been cool to show the overall gain stages (from very low to very high) but apart from that, very informative!! I had a 2008 Quick Rod for a while and while it sounded great, I sold it because it didn't have the loop master volume back then and it was WAY too loud, even at band volume haha The other guitar player of our band should receive his fully loaded Super Sport in the next few weeks and I've been looking to buy one too for a while so we'll see when he gets his!! I know Splawn kinda fell off the radar because let's just say that he's not very good at marketing and he didn't bring something new to the table for a long time. Nonetheless, his amps sound really really great!!
Thank you for sharing! I wish there were more videos like this one on Splawns, especially on the Super Sport models.
I was curious how good the end result would be. I'm sold
Very nice!. Love the color. I like it without a pickguard really shows off the grain. Great playing!
Supersport has el-34s?
Mine does. You can get 6V6 for the 22 watt version and also KT88s for 60 watts
Sounds great! Crazy how even coming out of a 1x12, the Splawn still sounds big and juicy!! haha I had a 2008 Quick Rod 100 and I really loved it but I sold it because it didn't have the loop master volume so the amp was insanely loud, even at band volume lol I tried a lot of other amps, but I always ended up selling and wanting another Splawn so I'll probably order a Super Sport 50 fully loaded soon. I'll ask Scott to put Gear 1and Gear 3 instead of Gear 1 and Gear 2. The other guitar player of our band just ordered his last week so let just say that the ''need'' kicked in hahaha Cheers!
Nothing beats a Splawn!!!!
Truth!
Im gunna order a DC Jr kit from them. Can't wait!
Killer job on the finish, I can’t believe it’s nitro. It’s so shiny I thought it was poly 🤘
My next build I’m thinking their ‘59 custom kit in red but with a wraparound 😏also that tone is lethal
Sounds amazing! I have the same amp on order...can't wait.
Great playing too!
You’re gonna love it dude. When I first plugged it in, I went what is this? This makes every other amp I’ve played seem like a toy.
Sounds great but I'm mostly impressed with the finish! Well done.
thats a pretty girl....
Precision Guitar kits are absolutely top notch guitars. If anyone who watches this is unsure about them, don't be. You'll be mad you didn't try them sooner is all I'll say. Also, don't listen to this guy or the guy he talked to at Gibson Garage. Hot Hide Glue isn't the secret mojo behind it. The reason custom shop guitars feel good or appear to is because they're not product line instruments. They have legit luthier's whose only job is to build those. Hide glue is used primarily because if it ever needs a neck reset, it's easier to heat those bonds up again to loosen the joints to repair easier than glues like tite-bond or epoxies.
I have a Gibson custom shop r9 les Paul and have been wanting a 57 les Paul jr but don’t want to break the bank. Is the precision guitar kits jr just as good? Like the feel or is it more like a product line? Thanks
@@ethanraley9067 I had double cut Les Paul Jr from them that I absolutely loved. I will say it's not exactly like a Gibson because the neck and headstock angle along with the neck tenon are different in design and spec. Also the scale length was shortened to something like 24.662 inches to avoid being sued I think. It's high quality stuff. Haven't seen a single negative review against them. If you really want to test their quality they have a clearance section for items with blemishes, and usually they aren't super expensive. Been playing guitar for over twenty years and have built, repaired and modified many guitars in that time. I swear by them. I'm not sponsored or anything by them.
@@maxwellcohen2917thank you
Nice build. A great way to have a custom LP!
About $4,000 cheaper too.
Very close to buying a precision guitars kit in the junior model and your video has helped with my uncertainty. It’s sounds just as good unplugged as cranked! Curious, why do you prefer the 50’s wiring? Thanks
50s wiring is so much better for people that ride the tone/vol. It alters the high end roll off and it just sounds much more vintage correct like all of our favorite classic recordings. Try it, you might be amazed, i know i was!
A superior quality Gibson L.P at around half the price, well done Trevor.
Really killer guitar build. I'm going to build an M6 kit soon.
Seem to be a great build, awesome sound, what amp are you using ? is it really in the same quality and feel like a 5000 bucks guitar ? Like a Gibson Les Paul Custom or similar ? How did you paint it ?
Yes it truly is the same quality as a $5K guitar. I’m playing through a Friedman dirty Shirley. I used a spray can nitro finish from stew Mac.
@@trevorcolm9194 I finaly got to play one of these, it´s a great guitar, but it´s not quite like a Gibson Les Paul Custom, but i can easy put it in the 1000 dollar range.. for sure... :D
Dude said he was floored by Precision Cuts from a company named Precision Guitar.....lol...Lol jokes aside. It's a awesome build really precise.. ..love the color and choice of black hardware..great build
I like your video . Where does one purchase the guitar kit. You did a great presentation!!! Kudals

Great project and nice finish. Did you get a solid body or chambered for weight relief?
Right on Trevor great job finish looks grovy .
