20221007 Roddy Radiation & The Skabilly Rebels – Siniawan Country Music Festival, October 2022

A long overdue project! Every year we hold the Siniawan Country Music Festival, right here in our little Cowboy town. As it was our big comeback after Covid, YB Miro asked me if I could find an International band to play, & we were lucky enough to get Roddy Radiation & the Skabilly Rebels.
I met Roddy back in 1981 I think, he’d just finished his time with The Specials, an iconic & globally famous band. He had his own band then, the Tearjerkers. I saw them one time, playing another band I followed back them The Mo-Dettes. I met Rod, had a beer with him, & I decided was gonna go to the next gig too. So our first European adventure came to an end. Finish with some quality time with Mum & a nice drink at the Granby with friends. An amazing journey, we came back engaged, & I learned that Grace is a great traveller! Unfortunately we weren't smart enough to take pictures on the return journey back then. Better at it now

From the spires of Prague we moved on to the ruins of Rome. A marvelous 3 days in the Eternal City. All the famous sites plus some great food & drinks. Thanks to Points, a stunning hotel right by the Spanish Steps

Our first big trip together, & it got off to a great start. Upgraded on the plane to Business Class, i decided this would be the perfect moment to propose! The last stop on our African adventure was a beauty, Kenyamba resort in the Lower Zambezi park. Lots of fishing, great food, G & T cruises, & an amazing Safari. Following the wonders of Victoria Falls, Sue & Ian took us on the 5 hour drive to their hometown of Mazabuka. A rural town famous for sugar palm plantations, giving it the nickname of 'the sweetest town'. A very local place with no tourists, great for us to experience real Zambia

We flew from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg to be met by our good friend Danie Van Eeden. He took us to Centurion & to a beautiful little guest house. We had a good pub/restaurant nearby, very Afrikaans. The next day we took the train to Johannesburg & used the Hop on-Hop off again. Kruger Park was an awesome experience! Great accommodation just outside the park, our first experience of 'Glamping'. 5 hours drive from Johannesburg & after a short break, straight to the Park. 36 degrees beautiful sunshine & saw lots of animals, & a beautiful sunset.
