Didn't you know that there was a rental crisis in Canada? Toronto and Vancouver next to impossible to fine an affordable unit. Anyone moving to Canada and especially these two cities should have known that beforehand.

I don't completely agree. I think in your case it was pure luck. Why would a company take a chance on a complete stranger who has not yet immigrated to Canada? Unless they have a skill that no Canadian citizen or PR has. As a Canadian Citizen living in the US, I don't think US companies would do that unless you have a skill that absolutely no USC or LPR can't find. My green card status in the US was not job based, so I had to pound the pavement looking for my first job. It is great that worked out for you, but for most of us who immigrated to another country, we had to start from scratch, even with the technology that was not available over 30 years ago. I suggest you keep that in mind when you next time go to work. Some of us struggled for years to get to where we are now. What was you PR based on? If family based you could have waited. If not, maybe but I still find it hard to believe that any company would even hire you before you landed.
