I learned of Ramblin Jack during my Air Force days. I too tried college for a couple years, dropped out and followed the trail of woe and became a travelling folk singer till I saw the futility of that. Took up a career of trades in construction. Im now near broke, but retired and just plain tired. My fondest memory of Jack was in Missoula in a bar in October about '86 or so. He told a lot of stories I could relate to. We both are staring at the Reaper.

I was there sitting in my favorite box,3 in from the stage. One of my best memories was Sarah Guthrie and how she stayed "close" to Pete with her loving protection.Some of the music wasn't clear to me because I cried through a lot of it. It was my tradition to see Carlo and Pete every year in Carnegie and the sense washed over me that this was the last time.... and it was.

He fought for a better world and sang his heart from the moment he was old enough to hold a guitar until he passed away. He is a legend by all accounts, and by none can he be called a "grifter" or "in it only for the money." Fly high, Pete. My greatest regret is that I never got to meet you.

He died of Covid.

Pete passed 2 months later. This was probably one of his last concerts! I feel blessed to have stumbled upon this video🙏🏼 Pete was 94 when he passed on January 27, 2014. This video is from 11/30/13. He sounds pretty good for a 94 year old!❤️

My friend Jerry Shields turned me on to John Prine back in 1973. I was blown away then and now by his beautiful songs. What a fine songwriter, singer, and guitar player. I miss him dearly. RIP John.

Great concert. Arlo and his family wee spot on. 6 months before Pete's passing he was still amazing. I'm sure he and Woody are holding concerts up in heaven. May their memories be for a blessing.
