Just listen !
I miss you Kurt, I’ve been listening to Nirvana daily for the past year, you mean so fucking much to me, im so sorry, i hope your happy
3:50
The whole reason he sung like that was bc Kourtney love cheated on him with Billy corgan
the fucking chello is so fucking bone chilling
damn that cello...seeps into your soul.
Rest in piece Kurt, your music will never be forgotten, you're truly inmortal!
it was the time he found out courtney love cheated on him on valentines day :(
the cello in the european tour versions is amazing, different player if i remember correctly.
the best performance i’ve ever heard. kurt’s voice is just so hauntingly beautiful and relatable.
She never deserved kurt or his love
is the picture from the actual show?
3:51 he’s truly one of the greatest singers of all time. This is full on screaming but also virtually pitch perfect.
"I can't believe he didn't cry at the end of Titanic." "Do men even have feelings?" Me listening to this:
I remember at this concert how poor kurt cried
4:30 thats sound amazing
3:50 .
Obsessed with Kurt, weirdly! So I’m here at 3:51am (Pittsburgh PA) fuck man, what a loss!
This is probably the best version of “where did you sleep last night.” The vocals gave me goosebumps and it feels more sadder and sinister than the unplugged version. Kurt deserved better i hope one day when i die i can meet you R.I.P
The cello really makes this better then the MTV version. Amazing. Courtney really didn't deserve Kurt man, damn. If only he found a woman that truly loved him.
this is awesome
Courtney Love runied him. Kurt had prepared flowers and champagne for them to celebrate valentines, but didn't come and most likely cheated on him, and he got word of this and that's what made this version of where you sleep last night so powerful and sad at the same time. Rest easy Kurt Edit: yes i know someone commented something similar to this before me
holy shit this is way better than the mtv one
Increíble..❤
this is more tear dripping then the mtv unplugged one, I feel really damn bad for him.
bro that cello is so annoying
Shhh.
respectfully disagree
That cello is absolutely phenomenal both in this performance as well as the unplugged one. They add so many layers / depth to the heartbreak of it all. There’s a reason Kurt insisted in it in his later years and Cornell even did the same as well in his later years.
the most heart breaking and passionate performance ever
i still stand by this statement
kurt was such a tortured soul.
Ісус спасає!- ти сьогодні можеш покаятися...Ісус справді страждав за тебе і Він знає твоє ім'я!..
bro what💀
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night? In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through My girl, my girl, where will you go? I'm going where the cold wind blows In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through Her husband was a hard working man Just about a mile from here His head was found in a driving wheel But his body never was found My girl, my girl, don't lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night? In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through My girl, my girl, where will you go? I'm going where the cold wind blows In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through My girl, my girl, don't lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night? In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through My girl, my girl, where will you go I'm going where the cold wind blows In the pines, the pines The sun don't shine I'd shiver the whole night through
this one just makes my eyes pop out because I know what the hell he's going through
He put every last drop of his soul into this one.
This is better than the MTV Unplugged Version
The raw emotion behind this version of the song is absolutely phenomenal you can literally feel the pain he was going through
Justice For KURT 2024
Courtney didn't deserve him. She was a betraying no good whore. She killed him.
sad that some feel the need to invent a dramatic story even though it's not factual at all. No, Courtney was never supposed to be in Paris since her band Hole was scheduled to film a music video in California: Miss World.
Courtney actually said that she wanted to cheat on him and he found it out
@@luan4310 no, she literally said that she had the chance (in March when she got to Europe) and didn't do it (different from wanting to). The story everybody liked can be de.bun.ked with a simple search. The three people involved were in different countries, that's your Valentine's affair Iol
Steady. The concept Courtney had a career separate to Kurt might get the rage going in some of them. Funny how they don't mention the "my favourite dead whore" lyric when she refused to join him until March.
Was reading the comments and thought I had gotten to the end of the song where you all were commenting on his screaming. I didn't hear it and didnt know what you guys were talking about.... then I got to the actual end of the song. I've listened to alot of Nirvana and I have never heard him scream from his soul like that, nor have a felt a scream so much in my own soul. Holy shit Kurt.
As a musician, there are some songs you relate to so much that you cant sing it without crying, maybe you can if you dont think about it, but when you resonate with it so much it has so much more depth when u perform it because your letting the people see that what you sing you mean it.
Wish the cello was like this for the unplugged one makes it even better
Want to hear some New Grunge, check us out!
The pain in his voice haunts me til today, its a part of his sad story & ending:(
Lmao real
Will always be number one

It all fits together in a fitting yet terribly heart breaking way. If you haven’t heard the story behind this version of the cover, scroll through some other comments, they’ll tell you. But basically, his wife abandoned him on Valentine’s Day to be with another man. In the song, he’s asking from a third person point of view about where the protagonist spent the night, and asking her not to be deceitful about her doings. With the context of the performance and the situation, this could be seen as Kurt’s actual wife who spent the night somewhere else. But perhaps the more terrifying part comes after this, where the protagonist’s (in this case Courtney) husband (in this case Kurt) was stated to be a hard working man who was killed. Intentional or not, Kurt quite literally told the story of a man who’s worked hard and had gone through a lot, had his wife sleep somewhere else and seems to lie about it, and finishes with the man dying. In other words himself. Kurt told his story, and he did it all in one of the most devastating performances of his life, where every inch of pain and agony can be heard leaving his mouth, where you can hear the sound of a man’s life shattering around him. This is the sound of a man who is breaking, who has gone through it all. Go ahead and debate his suicide after you listen to this, I dare you.
She didn't "abandon" him on V Day. They were never meant to see each other until early March as he was touring and she was working on stuff with her band in California. The "to be with another man" nonsense was in his imagination because he read an article where she admitted that Billy Corgan asked her to spend Christmas with him but she turned him down. He was hissing misogynistic insults in his songs at her before that. The song is an old folk song from the 1870's popularized by Leadbelly that he covered many times including with her.
@@Danathema alright, but that bit at the end wasn’t really needed. I appreciate the spread of knowledge, but I didn’t show a sign that I wasn’t aware, so you telling me those extra facts at the end just seems odd. I’m aware he didn’t write it, I’m aware they’ve played it together, I don’t think he wrote it about her or something of the sort. Best if you only state relevant details.
@@-S.F.K. OK, no problem, Thank you.
This recording gives me goosebumps
mi presentación favorita de toda la historia ktmreeee
This is magnificent, but also the saddest, most upsetting Kurt performance I've ever heard. He just sounds like he's completely fucking done with everything.
shocked he even made it over a month longer. such a loss. SUCH a loss.
Listen to the demo version for Something in the Way where he breaks down, that one is so heartbreaking
Hauntingly beautiful
Courtney Love cheated on him, and this was his response to betrayal. And his response was to take his life. Because if she couldn't have him, nobody would.
love the cello in this, it's just beautiful
Does anybody know which show the photo at 4:28 is from?
