"Beyond Reductionism" may have been a working title, I haven't found it among his books -- Does anyone have a wager as to whether this may have been in reference to "Reinventing the Sacred", published in 2008?
A trans-national mythic structure for a global civilization---can we find even a the tiniest crystal of such a structure in today's world? Maybe in the concept of global warming, global climate change, or extinction of animal species as a result of Man's poisoning their air and water and encroaching on their habitats. The mythic structure might involve a story of cooperation among heroic animals and heroic humans.
Maybe that's because you can't seem to understand what the term "natural" means. You are afraid of the term "emergence" becuase you are determined to assert that "god dunnit" is the excuse for an explanation that you are going to cling to. Come hell or high water.
While I disagree with Kauffman's idea that God and a naturally evolving universe are somehow mutually exclusive, I do believe he adds insight and sheds light on important concepts that materialists are butchering such as what life is, what the term emergence means, and so on.
This just merely marketing. Starting out with a comment that secular humanists are atheists or agnostics ... to me, atheism and everything else is a subset of agnosticism because really no one knows the best big picture way to parse reality, so all of it is just a way to frame one's mindset in a way that they have faith works best.
This is very profound and unifying....holistic. It must have evolved since June 03, 2008 and become more refined and acceptable. Best wishes Stuart Kauffman. Look forward to hearing more from you.
As far as the intellect goes, of course in reality cognition is not disembodied. Sam Harris is doing some great brain research which has shown that even when we are evaluating the validity of a mathematical equation, the limbic system must be active alongside the prefrontal cortex for us to process its truth. This shows that logical thought and emotion are intimately related. I was caricaturing Zizek a bit in the video you refer to, I admit.
I would agree that anti-Cartesianism is a mistake, but I think an embodied science no longer puts human beings in a position to engineer nature. Rather, it allows us to work within the systems that are already given. Knowledge would not be from some privileged, objective perspective, but would arise out of our participation in natural cycles. A participatory epistemology is less about control, more about cooperation.

he has a lecture on youtube where he talks about this more deeper and in it he talks about his book and on chapter 12 in particular go watch it

Calgary, where this video was filmed, is a kind of sleepy city in central Canada. The mere 129 views is unfortunate.
Hi - Do you know anything else about the provenance of this interview? Trying to track it back to the source. Thanks.
