The absolute economy of McEnroe's groundstrokes is amazing and IMO one of the reasons he is so successful even into his 60's. The continental grip requires very little adjustment when hitting a backhand and there is no exaggerated loops to his groundstrokes. I don't know why this isn't taught anymore.

Alexander sisk hitted very bad with john mcenroe, no consistency, nor control neither rythym.

In 2006 McEnroe won the Siebel Open doubles for his last title. I saw him in March of that year at a Davis Cup match in San Diego. Roddick got sick and retired, and since McEnroe was in the booth commenting, the fans all started chanting for him to come down and play. He and his brother played an Exo set with the Bryan Bros and he hit a serve clocked at 120mph. That's talent that doesn't go away.

Can't believe Johnny Mac got away with foot faulting like that his whole career 😜

It’s practice you dumbass! He’s not concerned with where his feet are. Obviously he didn’t footfall his entire career. Go watch and play Pickleball because you’re too stupid for Tennis.

I wonder if the ladies who showed up on the side court know who was playing there.

John just loves playing tennis. I wish he would randomly go on Tennistroll channel and take on some young club players. He might do it for fun

How are traveling around playing a bunch of nobodies be fun for four time US open champion? This guy can pick up the phone and get practically anyone in the world to hit with him whenever he wants. Seriously doubt he’d ever waste his time with some club players

@@MrPernell27 oh come on...what 60 year old who's won multiple grand slam single and doubles titles, brought home Davis Cup campaigns, played and beaten people like Connors, Borg, Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Agassi, Courier....in front of thousands of people and millions watching, doesn't want to play shmucks from the club? That has to be right up there with: having teeth pulled by the dentist! "fun" indeed! PS. they're the same kind of shmucks who after losing to a teaching pro trying to humor them, tell people later: you know I think I almost had him in those last games, he clearly was surprised by my forehand and was trying to stay away from it....he won, but it was close.....

His control is just insane, it looks so easy, even pure. Mcenroe is one of a kind, unique. He is 60 on the video, he makes things look so simple. A pleasure to watch, he used to hit shots that were impossible, remember his stop volleys on powerful passing shots ? I miss that style of playing...

Saw him play edberg in Wimbledon 89 semis. Watching him warmup was more impressive than the match. Just to see how he hits the ball and how beautiful it is I’ll never forget

It seems im one of the few who remember McEnroe miss his share too, and often when I thought he should have just pinned it or placed it rather than go for a magical volley. It could be frustrating to watch. Loved watching him as much as anyone, but Mac gets lots of extra credit for style.

That is a nice memory having a practice hit with John McEnroe - looks like you both got kicked off at the end - brings back memories when I was young sneaking onto a court for a free hit and getting kicked off - thank you for sharing - I watched your other training video you have a solid backhand with a unique style which looks like would be hard to break down. Hope you can make it into the big ranks.
