If I may make one little correction. This isn't "apathy". Apathy was like when the live-action Pinocchio movie came out and nobody gave a low-flying fuck; it got middling reviews, and was forgotten the moment it was over. This movie? People HATE this woman, and they hate her movie, and they want it to fail. They are enjoying the fact that it is struggling, they are dancing naked around it as it burns, and they find even the possibility of it succeeding to be offensive. People have a vested interest in watching this movie and this woman fail, and that is the farthest possible thing from apathy.

I still wonder if this was all Zegler or Disney too. I would not put it past the marketing team to tell her to be edgy and different from other actors who played in previous remakes. Captain America has not represented the US' values for decades in the comics. (I mean specially now......) He's been a representation of the good in humankind, the hope to be better, what the US should strive to be as a country and what people should hope to become one day. Those are not american values, they're human values. Captain America has become "The Captain" and "Nomad" in the comics in multiple instances. Plus Steve stopped representing the country itself (in comics and the MCU) when he realized he was actually fighting for corrupt warmongers. Its like the reason Superman stopped saying "truth justice and the AMERICAN way" for what is the american way nowadays? For many other countries, its invading and conquering for profits and putting yourself above others. So that's not a good look for superheroes, hence why the change happened, to appeal to the more realistic worldwide view of hope and kindness, instead of the idealized view US citizens have of their country

Those representation/values are what American STRIVES for. America is more than that don’t be so dim. Captain America 2 is literally cap vs the us government to protect his best friend Bucky who literally has a Russian star on his medal arm. No one was complaining before.

America is not the only country in the world with strong values which you seem to think. Furthermore, the extensive reshoots and 300-400M budget is also misinformation. Reshoots lasted a little over a month and the budget is 180M. Not saying that information isn't subject to scrutiny either but when using common sense, a movie's budget, especially this type of movie that is not as VFX heavy as other marvel movies, would not have a budget of 400M unless they redid the entire movie from the ground up. Sorry, I understand you have your criticisms and opinions but this is not a very good take.
