From about 00:15 for the next 7 seconds was heartbreaking for me. It sounded awesome, YOU were getting excited about it, but I'd already seen the video title so I knew it was going to be a letdown. "They've found a way to live forever and always be young and eat ice cream all day! ...but first they scoop out your brain and feed it to hyenas so you can't really enjoy it."

Good review! I’m a Malaysian and I was so immersed in the storyline and had goosebumps when I watched the scenes of Merdeka 118 tower. Even though I’m a Malaysian and had seen the tower with my own eyes, the scenes inside the movie still kinda looked otherworldly!
This movie was woke trash.

I liked it too. Visually beautiful, surreal and with great acting. It was much needed after alien 3.
@@doodlePimp agreed!
I liked this movie, they just need to stop it with the strong woman crap that makes her stronger & more resilient than all the trained men that have been fighting & surviving their whole lives. It ruined Prey & pretty much ruins this one at the end all because they want to steal from the original Alien where Ripley broke the usual trope of the men being the heroes. It's getting old & predictable.
Wow - TWO videos just to say how much you didn't like it? Either way - it's not justified - the movie was AWESOME!
@@toj_art_studio ya just like most other people on RUclips. One review that’s spoiler free, one that’s spoiler filled. My hatred for this movie is justified.
@@gavinevans1687 Well then - in that case your hatred is your own cross to bear...😉
Yeah, I guess I can see where the hate comes from. The baby at the end wasn't my favorite, but EVERYTHING ELSE was amazing. The scene where the alien gets in the evacuation pod is one of the most fascinating and horrifying to me
I enjoy this movie, I rank it my third favorite in both franchises. Though those franchises have only 2 amazing movies each. Should be rated R, we spend too much time with bland humans, I don't find Lex OP since we start the movie seeing her as an explorer and taking charge for the mission, but she's the only good human character. Not enough showdowns between the creatures. It's not a greatly made film but it's fun. Setting is cool, effects are great, love the team up, final battle with the Queen is really cool.
That moment when she sees all the clones of herself and torches them, one of the most terrifying things I've seen in a movie.
@@martyg8137 completely agreed! Especially when you think about how those could’ve been her!
My roommate and I were able to convince our vhs rental store to give us Alien Resurrection the day before it was officially released. We must have watched it half a dozen times. Not the best Alien film, but damned sure better than the joke that Covenant was. Arguably better than Alien³ also
I understand and respect your take. I disagree though. For me, an alien movie is not supposed to be goofy at all. It's supposed to never let you be at ease, always at the tip of your chair. But I respect If you liked it. I agree, the effects in this movie are good, and not at all what brings the movie down. The human-alien hybrid is absolutely stupid, not just it itself, but how it came to be. It just feels so far fetched, you're looking at aliens, you hear about a queen, and all of a sudden VOILÁ you have a queen who births alien babies like humans and they call her perfect... She was WAY MORE PERFECT when she laid the eggs. And the alien Hybrid kills her on birth like... OMG what a waste of an alien queen! The movie is kinda like Prometheus in a way. For those who enjoy these kinds of movies I understand it will be great. But for Alien fans addicted to the addiction of Alien and Aliens, and even to a lesser extent alien 3, this completely under delivers on the promise of a true alien film: TENSION!
To each their own, but I don't agree. "An alien movie is not supposed to be goofy", why not? I love Alien and Aliens, but it's good for franchises to evolve and not just offer the same things over and over again. This movie can be tense, it also delivers on some body horror, some psychological horror, but it also manages to be goofy. It adds some personality to this movie. The alien queen is great but we already saw that in Aliens. Once again, I like that they expanded upon the lore and gave us something new. Still respect your opinion, and thank you for watching!
I understand :) this is a great example of people enjoying different things! Glad you like the movie, let's hope we both love the Romulos movie!
@@BernasDrums True! I’m very excited for Romulus and I’m hoping it delivers!!
Comedy doesnt belong in Alien as a main focus. The acting was HORRID. THE CRIPPLED dude was awful, the pirate leader and his girlfriend were terrible, christie was cringe and Perlman was miscast. Also the newborn was one of thw worst additions to alien lore ever thought of. Resurrection is horrid. Only movie worse is AvP requiem
The comedy is not a main focus. It's goofier, but what's the matter with that? Do you want all the movies to feel the same? I disagree with your comments about the acting, everyone does what they needed to. The newborn is the best addition to the alien lore, it's so gross and off putting.
@@gavinevans1687 fair enough. But tbh the vast majority agrees that Resurrection is awful. It nearly killed alien
@@erikrodriguez3829 Well I disagree with the vast majority then.
It ain’t
From the start of the film till the 'monstrosity' I enjoyed it and thought it was a decent watch, very much a 7/10. But then the entire film was ruined when it went weird/abnormal and quite frankly disgusting with the love making scene between Ripley and the Xenomorph, then even more messed up with that inbred white thing. Yuck. No need for any of that madness. It's supposed to be a Sci-Fi horror not some X rated fetish film.
@@johnmitchell2269 What are you talking about? There’s no love making scene between Ripley and a Xenomorph. And that human/xenomorph hybrid is disgusting in the best way. It’s sci-fi/horror, it fits the genre perfectly.
i actually quite like it
It's not awesome but it's not terrible, I enjoyed it just not as much as the first 3
Fair enough!
its a terrible "Alien movie". The tone is just off in every way. That said its better than Prometheus and its sequel, and isnt a bad film taken on its own me.rrits
@@charly03090309 Disagree. I love the goofy tone, it has a lot more personality than a fourth movie in a franchise typically has. But I also love Alien Covenant and especially Prometheus. What don't you like about those two?
@@gavinevans1687 The fingering... Its the bad writing mainly. Cant think of a single character that I liked, or who wasnt dumb. No wonder the big dudes wanted to wipe out humanity. And at tbe end of Prometheus, she decudes instead of going home and warning her people and exploiting the aliens tech, she was going to the engineers homeworld to remind them they still hadnt genocided humanity. Genetic experimentation was too good for her
@@charly03090309 What part of the writing do you think is bad? I don't think most of the supporting characters in any Alien movie are all that good, but I'd say David is very well written. Agree to disagree! The movie was GREAT!
just a minor correction the alien 3 alien isnt cgi. It's actually a puppet rig that was filmed on a green screen and then composited into the scenes. It is actually a very fascinating and unique form of practical effects. But The composition work is terrible, hence why the alien looks so out of place. If someone was to take this approach to the alien today with digital raw cameras the effect would actually be so much better then what they got in 1992. But it's a complicated approach for something that is easier and cheaper to do on computer these days.
@@connla I did not know that… it certainly looked like bad cgi, that’s fascinating. Thanks for letting me know!!
Producers and studio ruined Alien³. Fincher at least made it watchable.
Decent review. This is actually a classic to me from my childhood. But it definitely has its flaws. I think its a cool movie though. I love the franchises.
@@Dicem fair enough! Thanks for watching!!
@@gavinevans1687 Are you a big Alien or Predator fan? It sounded to me like you know a decent amount at least about the Alien franchise. Specifically the original Alien films at least. What's your opinion on Alien Covenant? What do you think of the new Alien Romulus movie so far? I think it actually looks very promising and dope. Very interesting if you ask me. I definitely prefer the raw Horror vibe. AVP definitely lacked that. It was almost more kid friendly or something . It was way too clean for an Alien Vs Predator movie. You mentioned the Predalien. AVPR actually did kinda make up for some of this stuff. It did become more brutal. It also actually showcased the Predalien on full display. Well in the dark for the most part but still. In the end it was all over the place. It was just very strange. I still don't know how that's what the studio actually decided to follow AVP up with. It's mind boggling honestly. Even with AVP being a kinda weak film it had a lot of franchise potential. I thought AVP & AVPR were very cool at points. But AVP is far better than part 2. The fight scenes & action were actually very well done. I really liked the practical effects & whatnot. I was invested in the battles as a long time fan. And I think the Wolf Predator is by far one of the best Yautja we've seen. Definitely a very skilled & savage Predator. And I love the design. I do believe that they kinda nerfed the Xenomorphs though. It was noticeable to me. I always loved how AVP actually had the Xenomorph & Yautja on a similar playing field. They were both physically powerful & lethal. In AVPR the Xenos are way more disposable. They seem very nerfed. Like they're only there to be slaughtered by Wolf. That was very unfortunate. I think that kinda stuff damaged the Xenomorphs image & reputation among people. It made them seem less intimidating & scary. It made them seem less lethal & powerful. Previously it took futuristic pulse rifles unloading in them. Now they seem far less strong & they're being massacred. You could say Wolf is just very very skilled but idk. That's kind of a cop out answer lol. Originally it really took a lot to defeat them. Not in AVPR though . I did like AVPR but I obviously have some major issues with it as well. I definitely don't think it's a worthy sequel to AVP. And AVP wasn't that great of a movie to begin with. I much prefer the classic Alien & Predator movies. I'm actually a very big fan of every entry in the Alien series. Every single film in the Predator franchise is also dope imo. I loved Predator 2 for what it was & Predators was also sick. Even The Predator was cool. Now Prey has to be one of the best yet. The best since Predators for sure. The only one that I actually think wasn't as strong (hot take) is Alien 3. I like it but ive never been a big fan of part 3. The Dog-Alien Runner is a cool concept. And at times it is cool. But overall I'll pass on that one specifically. I prefer Alien Resurrection. Even though that movie also has some major flaws. They actually got some things right. Then Alien Covenant brought the Horror vibe back. I appreciated that a lot! It was brutal & at times unnerving. It was an interesting movie if you ask me. But I do think they missed out on some opportunities with it. And I think it wasn't as good as the classics. I enjoyed it but it left me wanting a lot more as a fan. Now I'm intrigued to see what Romulus does. For sure!
@@gavinevans1687 You're Welcome
@@gavinevans1687 Damn that was actually very long lol. I just love the franchise tbh.
@@Dicem My review for Alien Covenant comes out in a couple of weeks, but I do love it. I think Alien Romulus looks great and the fact that it's the same director as the Evil Dead remake gets me really excited, I get the sense that they will fully deliver on the gore. Also I love how much focus seems to be on the facehuggers, it could allow it to stand out. I'm glad you enjoy this movie so much!! I love the Alien franchise with the exception of the third movie.... the predators movie, I'm not big on. I think the first movie is fine, the second movie is bad, never saw Predators, and The Predator was awful, so I definitely prefer the alien franchise.

I can't say he'll do a bad job because he's a good actor, but you'll never stop thinking about Tony Stark just by looking at him. some are saying this is the variant that became Dr. Doom - still a dumb decision because Victor Von Doom is a great character. So many good actors out there.. bringing RDJ back just gives us the impression that things are not moving forward.
@@Edu-Mau i guess we’ll see in 2026
People probably didn’t like how different it was, and how disturbing it was at times. Same reason I hated AVPR when it first came cause I had expectations from AVP. But rewatching years later, I appreciate AVPR and how brutal it is, which I didn’t before. I really hated the scene with the girl, especially after that nice shot of her legs, if you know what I’m talking about 😅 after that I was like fck this movie lol. But now I’m like, dang that was effective
Gavin - In the comics Deadpool is mostly a villain who only cares for himself. The reason for Deadpool's motivation to do good in these movies is because of his relationship with Vanessa. He only is motivated to change when either Vanessa was in danger or their relationship is in danger. That is why their relationship was never fully resolved or concluded - because Deadpool would've stopped, and the story would end. Every hero in comics has a motivation that gets them to put on the costume and put their own lives in danger on dangerous missions. Batman is motivated by the death of his parents and his unyielding desire to save the helpless. Spiderman is motivated by the guilt of not saving those he loved when he could've. Without these motivations they would not have a purpose to do what they do. In the first movie Deadpool realizes that he has someone to care other than himself because of Vanessa. In the second movie he has friends that he cares for other than Vanessa. In the third movie he learns that he doesn't need Vanessa's approval in order to know that he matters to the world he lives in - but he still loves Vanessa and would still do anything for her - which keeps Deadpool motivated for the next movie.
Vanessa is ever really only present during the first movie, and that's why it's easily the best of the three. At this point, it's just repeating the same beats while not having the material present. They haven't shown any progression of the characters or their relationship. Like I said in my video, they did the same thing as they did in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. They ruined their relationship off screen just to bring them back together while not doing any of the work, it's lazy.
@@gavinevans1687 Deadpools' relationship with Vanessa was never really the point in those three movies - it was his growth as a person. Vanessa was his motivation to do what needed to do in those movies. I see you are vested in their relationship and let me tell you that it will resolve into a marriage when the Deadpool series end.
@@gavinevans1687 If this helps - think of Tony Starks relationship with Pepper Pots - how many movies did it take before they finally settle down and had a daughter? How many ups and downs did they went through before it finally resolved?
@@bill-xm7dz His relationship with Vanessa is the emotional foundation of the franchise and the character, it is the point. You think it will end in marriage and maybe it does, but in this movie, there is zero progression.
@@bill-xm7dz Both Tony and Pepper are the stars of all 3 Iron Man movies. The movies actually focus on their relationship, just like Peter and Mary Jane in the Sam Rami trilogy, Peter and Gwen in the Amazing Spider-Man movies, Peter and MJ in the MCU Spider-Man movies, Bruce and Selina in Batman Returns, and Peter and Gamora in the MCU. Deadpool 1 would be included, but definitely not this third movie because the movie doesn't focus on them at all. She is an afterthought, and all the drama happened off screen.
I can't sugarcoat it. This is dumb. Switching from Kang to Doom would be like switching from Thanos to Apocalypse.
@@wickdaline8668 I don’t agree. Kang wasn’t working and they lost their actor for him, it made sense to pivot.
@gavinevans1687 Imagine if in the Infinity Saga, you had all those Thanos appearances in the post credits and such in the Infinity Saga. Only to pivot to Apocalypse out of the blue. You don't bring in Kang, build him up in Loki and Quantumania, and not commit! Just because Kang was a letdown in one movie and his actor got in trouble doesn't mean you can't do him better in A5 and not recast as well! They really could have salvaged the Kang arc with the Russos directing and Stephen McFeely back in the writers' room! Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
@@wickdaline8668 The MCU post Endgame has been a complete scattered disaster. Harry Styles as Thanos' brother. Charlize Theron in Doctor Strange 2. Thor's daughter. The Young Avengers. Elaine from Seinfeld showing up and doing nothing. Remember Shang-Chi??? There is so much stuff that I just don't care about any of it.
