😂 the comments here...lets do math. So the average oil change at a shop is $100 including the oil, duh! Ok so if you drive 12k a year, thats $200-400/yrly just in oil changes....the average ford, gm, and Chrysler last 300k. The tranny will give out before the engine blows and thats even if you never change the oil...so your going to pay $2500 to $10k in oil changes and just in oil changes alone, you paid for a new tranny, that your going to have to replace/rebuild anyway...let the scam speak for itsself.

My 2018 civic has an indicator system that tells when the oil needs to be changed so I just go by that

As someone that specializes in engine lubricants and filtration all that 10k+ oil change interval talk is a bunch of nonsense I’ll tell yall the same thing we tell our customers believe the label if you want but saving those couple dollars by pushing an oil change back is gonna cost you more in the long run when it end up in our shop for major servicing🤷🏼‍♂️ oil changes are cheaper than engine swaps

I’ve seen what happens to the canister filters if you go 7500 miles. Lol. If you think it’s a scam change your own damned oil. Yeah, you can go 7500-10,000 miles if you are constantly driving in ideal driving conditions meaning absolutely no stop and go, and all highway miles. Otherwise you’re driving most likely in extreme driving conditions year round, requiring the oil to be changed if it very dirty at 3,000 miles or 5,000. Also has a lot to do with your driving habits. So I promise it’s not a scam.

Well…. If the mechanic actually says to “get your oil change in 3k miles”, then yes, it’s a scam. But typically those are just REMINDERS to keep in your head.

6k or every 5-6 months. Honda recommends every 10k. Most of those engines now have sludge and get a engine every 150k. Source? When applying for a Honda tech about 5 years ago the techs told me I’ll be doing a lot of engines bc of this.

3000 miles or 6 months doesn't matter the vehicle. oil changes are cheaper than a new engine. unless you have a Hyundai or Kia then you're just screwed

3,000 is the best interval for your internals, 4,000-5,000 is pushing it. Don’t care what kind of oil it is. Considering most of you trade in your cars after two years says a lot about how you take care of them. I make less than a lot of our middle class customers, and don’t think about anything spending good money on my car to keep it well-maintained. Cheap asses.

Vehicles with full synthetic these days have tight oil specs and small oil channels... tight engine specs overall for highest EPA and emissions standards. 5,000 full synthetic on non turbos, 3,000 on twin or single turbo & 3,000 on supercharged. Synthetic blend on non turbo is 3,000 and 2,000 on twin/single turbo & supercharged. Finally conventional is 3,000 non turbo and 2,000 on single turbo/supercharged and 1,500 on twin turbo.

No one says this is when you should get the next oil change, many shops run that as the bare minimum as when to remind the customer, also all shops will say if you ask “this our standard set with all the manufacturers, but we recommend you always fallow what your manufacturer recommends”

You can do 7,500 and over if you’re not planning to keep your car over 100k. If you plan on keeping as long as possible, change it much much sooner. 5k max, even with good oil. Oil is cheap, new engines and cars are not.
