    Can Mitibushi actually prove that the firmware upgrade was the cause of the issue, sounds a bit suspect to me. You don't look like that type that redlines the motor every second of the day.

    • @thepaedophileprofit3062
      @thepaedophileprofit3062 День назад

      They dont need to prove that it was the cause, they just have to prove that their warranty contract has a clause which states that modifications which alter the vehicle from Mitsubishi's "approved setup" into something which is outside of Mitsubishi's defined setup, which is something that an upgrade to the ECU is specifically intended to do, to increase the power/performance above that which the factory setup could achieve. If Mitsubishi offered an upgraded ECU package and they had purchased the upgraded ECU via Mitsubishi then Mitsubishi would have to honour the warranty, but Mitsubishi isn't going to offer any 'upgraded ecu package" which their testing has shown them causes increased levels of engine failure and warranty claims. If they modified the suspension it wouldn't have voided the engines warranty, but an ECU is an engine modification so it does void the engines warranty, but it wouldn't void the suspensions warranty

      @ I'm a qualified mechanic of 35 years and I've watched dealerships bluff their way out of warranties for years like this. Mechanics are not engineers and most dealership mechs are monkeys that just do repetitive work, they really don't have in-depth knowledge of motors. If the damage was really done from the tune, fair enough but someone just saying it was caused by the chip upgrade because they noticed it had one just doesn't cut it, as engine failures occur for many different reasons.

    Unfortunately not everyone knows or understands the remifications of modifying their brand new 4wd to travel and tow around Australia. Most if not all bands will knockback warranty claims on vehicles that have been modifyed from standard unless it has been approved by the manufacturer. Mods like GVM increases, Coil deletes, Heaver Springs/Coils and the list goes on, take your vehicle away from what the manufacturer has specified what the vehicle is rated at. There has been other instances of engines and transmissions ect, letting go with less than 5000km been done by the vehicle and when a warranty has been claimed they have been denied becacuse of the mods that have been done to the vehicles. So I guess pass the word along to anyone who is looking to do mods to check first to make sure that the warranty will not be voided by said mods. Good luck with your repairs and I hope that you continue your travels.

    Lots of modern diesels are blowing up because manufacturers are specifying thin 0W oils with extended 10-15,000km 12month service intervals. This is what is killing motors. The only reason a manufacturer is specifying this oil is to meet the extremely stringent CAFE and Emissions standards that are being placed on them, which includes "oil consumption" over the life of the vehicle, that includes servicing, hence they have pushed it to the maximum limit with regards to getting that engine through the warranty period. Additionally the thin 0w oils edge out better fuel economy in testing, which is the only reason they use it, it's the completely wrong oil for our climate and for a heavy use diesel 4wd that is off-road or towing. Make no mistake, DO NOT go by the book on your new diesel and just service it every 5-7500kms, and go to a suitable 5w30 oil minimum! It's not hard, and will safe your motor. This is the same issue Toyota is having with the 300 series, and they are cooking bottom ends.

    • @madaussieadventures
      @madaussieadventures 25 дней назад

      Firstly, thank you for the information. We have been hearing this a lot, especially getting the oil changed more often when towing. We won't deviate from the oil they recommend as we'll lose our warranty, however, I will question them on this. I have taken a note '5w30 oil' Cheers and thanks for watching - Anya

Even with a dmax too heavy, longevity is reduced with towing…Stop listening to the manufacturers on what they can tow. Towing a van thats heavier than the car is ridiculously unsafe. Guys please do not go anywhere near a Ford as they’re unreliable and the Ford dealership culture is very very bad - no1 choice is Toyota, Toyota or Toyota - no 2 would be an Isuzu DMAX but be aware of body tearing in the engine bay of this brand and its cousin Mazda BT50 that use two piece aluminium tail shafts - as I mentioned in your part 1 of this journey check out Redriven for second hand advice and I’m sure you learning a lot on your journey of discovery - it’s good that you’re only towing 2.6 tonnes because the industry lies about the 3.5 tonne towing capacity of 4WDs is misleading and downright dangerous - talk to as many private owners as possible and you’ll discover that Toyota is a good safe choice to get you out there and back - I owned 12 Subarus for this very reason and now drive a Toyota Hilux - leave the vehicle in stock because as soon as you start pushing the limits especially when towing you’re playing Russian roulette - pls do not buy Chinese as they come with many issues and ‘factory rust’ - they’re cheap for a reason and do not buy an Amarok as they’re built in Argentina now South Africa (rebadged Ford) - all the best and safe travels.

    Some tough life lessons guys but your back home in our wonderful state - Just watched two Q&A sessions with ‘Redriven’ Jim Hull (auto mechanic business in Newcastle /Adam who presents the stories & Auto Expert ex motoring journey and engineering guru John Cadogan (Sydney) - this trio are one of the few honest auto industry professionals I’ve seen here in Australia and they know there stuff and then some - Jim was very strong about the mavericks out there pushing for ECU remapping etc the stresses that can put on the engine and drive train and unable to claim due to a void warranty - if you feel you have to do this your driving the wrong vehicle for towing safely you really need a diesel three litre or v6 minimum and never even with a GVM upgrade tow something heavier than you vehicle - a NSW chap is currently serving 6 years for killing his wife and another family member due to overloaded Prado & caravan - all the best for your next steps.

      @@madaussieadventures it’s not a great Christmas present Anya but ‘25 brings new opportunities for your ventures and choices - not easy when there are so many salvos flying across the horizon at you telling you this or that - I’m simply coming from a background in aviation and engineering so I’ve seen a high standard of engineering and have zero tolerance for anything less - unfortunately most premium brands are putting profit before people so your choices for quality and reliability are now limited - main thing is not to rush and I know your partner will digest as much research as possible - despite Toyotas DPF issue and new diesel V6 Landcruiser overheating issues (when towing you should be using at least 5W 30 engine oil not 0W 20 - the manufacture wants people to run this low viscosity to meet fuel economy standards) they’re still my go to brand for owner confidence and long term reliability over Ford, Isuzu and Mazda by a long way - Mitsubishi Triton is a good basic Ute and my second choice if only they had a 3 litre engine like the now extinct Pajero.

    OMG, why did you throw out all that food, how long was the fridge off for? eggs can be stored in a cupboard for 10 days at least. Also, sorry to hear about your car, I did think the Triton is a good around car, but also had concerns about that little engine towing a caravan. Now, I'm not saying go down this route, I did have a Prado, love that car, but same, was not a good tow car. The power was hopeless, barely able to pass a truck on flat road, and big hills, terrible. I'm in the same boat, very low budget, 200 LC, Y62, Rams etc, way out of my budget. So went down the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, absolutely fantastic car, 2015 model 100k on the clock for 29k. Mine is the petrol V6 as I only tow a 2T hybrid and does it easily. The car has had it's first breakdown in 138k's headlight globe went. Now you can get a 2014/5 Grand Cherokee V6 diesel Overland with very low k's say 50,000klms for say under $30k, check this one out, if it is what they say, amazing value don't discount these cars, they are one of the best tow cars around. I did have a Mazda BT50 for a while now they are a great tow car with the 3.2L diesel, my was the freestyle cab which I didn't want, so have the Jeep now. www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2014-jeep-grand-cherokee-overland-auto-4x4-my14/OAG-AD-23852042/

      Hi, Firstly, thank you for watching and such a lengthy comment amazing. Re the food we had already had it for some time, then 4 days of interrupted power in very HOT conditions. Eggs had an expiry date on them. We returned a little over a month. Thank goodness the stuff in the freezer was all good. Wow, didn't know that about the Prado. The DMAX is gutless as well - took it for a test drive, not even towing and wasn't impressed. It's so goddam hard to choose a vehicle. New cars these days are shite. I'll check out your link. My son-inlaw has one and loves it and he is a Toyota fan boy, but boy they are costly.. Now, that's why I went the Jeep path, but I do cop a lot of flak from my Toyota and Patrol friends. Got to look at the price you are paying and when you go for a test drive, you will be impressed, maybe you have already discounted them, but don't listen to all the sheep out there, if you look after them it will look after you.

      @@madgibbo44 I think the Ranger GVM is only 50kg or thereabouts more than the Platinum Everest on the numbers I had last year. Take out the passengers, full tank and 350kg ball weight and most cars have a surprisingly low spare cargo capacity. The new Cruiser has 94kg and the 250 Prado has only 19kg spare. The Everest has 135kg GVM spare and the Ranger 145kg. All of them give reason to pause if you even think about a canopy set-up which of course is built-in on an Everest. Needless to say, I still upgraded to a 3700kg GVM and 7200Kg GCM so I can sleep at night.

We checked under the bonnet no smells, build leaking..nothing unusual. Then I asked him to start the car..there was nothing on the dash..dead black as a dead dingo's dongga....no warning lights, no radio, no hazards, no lights...nothing...but the engine was still cranking and wanting to start. It seemed to be a "electronics issue"..so he called for backup..luckliy he had top roadside cover... Nuff said....

    I feel your pain guys. I have a stock standard 2020 79 series ute. I purchased it new and in the first year asked Toyota if they could install a pre-filter in the fuel line. They said no and said if I did it would void the warranty on the engine. I suggested that it would actually be beneficial for the fuel system but they were adamant it would enable them to walk away from any warranty claim that could be linked back to anything to do with the fuel. It may be possible to challenge them on it, but they've got a bit more money than me. Consequently I have left everything absolutely stock in every way. I hate not having the benefit of a pre filter, but I don't want to lose the 7 year warranty it came with. Best of luck with whatever decision you make.
