    Byzantine name was never used during the reign of Eastern Roman Empire. They created that Byzantine name later after Eastern Roman Empire was defeated, because Romans didn't want people learn that Turks ended the reign of Roman Empire first in 1071 Manzikert, then in 1453 Conquest of Constantinople.

    • @hamzaisrarkhalid
      @hamzaisrarkhalid 10 дней назад

      The term "Byzantine" was indeed not used by the people of the Eastern Roman Empire during its existence. Those living within the empire referred to themselves as "Romans" (Ρωμαῖοι in Greek) and considered their state the continuation of the Roman Empire. The use of the name "Byzantine Empire" is a later historical convention, coined by Western scholars long after the fall of Constantinople in 1453 to the Ottoman Turks. It was derived from "Byzantium," the ancient name of the city that became Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul). The Byzantine name wasn't created to hide or distort the significance of Turkish victories like the Battle of Manzikert (1071) or the fall of Constantinople (1453). Instead, historians used the term to distinguish the Eastern Roman Empire from the Western Roman Empire, which had fallen in 476 AD. By the time of Manzikert, the Western Roman Empire had been gone for centuries, and the Eastern Roman Empire (what we now call the "Byzantine Empire") was the only remaining part of the Roman legacy. The Battle of Manzikert in 1071 and the subsequent conquest of Constantinople in 1453 were certainly pivotal moments in the decline of the Eastern Roman Empire, but the decision to label the empire as "Byzantine" came much later as a way for historians to clarify the distinction between the ancient Roman Empire and the medieval Greek-speaking empire that succeeded it. This terminology doesn't diminish the significance of the events that led to its fall, but rather serves to categorize the different historical phases of the Roman legacy.

    Your video has quite a good premise to it, however you need to adjust a fact or two. Basically there were two sieges of Tobruk. The first siege of 1941 was held primarily by Australian troops from April to roughly October. Mr Rommel could not budge them. The English took over for the last two months or so. It was at the second siege in 1942 that Rommel was able to take Tobruk in a matter of days. This was early in 42. This then allowed his forces to attack eastward into Egypt being finally held up at El Alamein before the big battle late in 1942. Hope this helps. Regards, Peter.

I appreciate you taking the time to point out the distinction between the two sieges of Tobruk, which is indeed a critical aspect of the North African Campaign. Your clarification about the roles played by Australian and British troops during these different phases adds significant depth to the historical context we aimed to present. I will make sure to adjust the video to reflect these important facts accurately. Thank you once again for enhancing the quality of our content with your knowledge. Regards, Hamza Israr Khalid

    The Allied response to the persecution of Jews was pathetic At the Evian confernce inJuly 1938 there was no commitment to increase immigration quoata Once WW2 started any immigration to USA & UK stopped altogether The claim that the bombing campaign would divert resources needed for victory by bombing the rail lines to & the camps themselves is preposterous Almost the entiirety of Bomber Commands efforts were to deliberately target and incinerate the medieval historical cores of German cites and towns; this was of no military significance and actually prolonged the war It is not just Nazi Germany that descended into barbarism It is so easy to be against hatred if you only attribute it to "the other"

    • @hamzaisrarkhalid
      @hamzaisrarkhalid Месяц назад

      You’ve raised some important and challenging points about the Allied response to the Holocaust and the broader implications of their actions during World War II. It’s crucial to engage with these issues thoughtfully to gain a more nuanced understanding of the era. Evian Conference and Immigration Quotas: The Evian Conference in July 1938 indeed highlighted the reluctance of many nations to take decisive action on the Jewish refugee crisis. While the lack of commitment to increase immigration quotas was a significant missed opportunity, it’s important to recognize that the geopolitical climate of the time was heavily influenced by isolationism, economic concerns, and widespread anti-Semitism. Many countries, including the U.S. and the U.K., were grappling with their own domestic issues and political constraints. Immigration Halts During WWII: The cessation of immigration to the U.S. and U.K. during the war was a tragic aspect of the period. The reasons for this halt included security concerns and the sheer scale of the wartime upheaval. However, this decision did indeed come at a tremendous cost, as many individuals who could have been saved were not able to find refuge. Allied Bombing Campaign: The effectiveness and morality of the Allied bombing campaign are subjects of significant debate. The strategic bombing of German cities, including historical centers, was intended to cripple Germany’s war production and infrastructure. However, it’s valid to question whether resources could have been better allocated, such as targeting rail lines to concentration camps. The argument that the bombing campaign did not effectively address the Holocaust’s infrastructure and might have prolonged the war by misallocating resources is a perspective worth considering. Broader Reflections on Barbarism: Your point about the broader descent into barbarism and the ease of condemning "the other" is poignant. It’s important to recognize that during times of extreme conflict, societies can sometimes mirror the very evils they oppose. This reflection challenges us to confront our own potential for moral failure and to strive for empathy and ethical consistency. In conclusion, examining these issues involves grappling with complex historical realities and acknowledging the limitations and failures of all involved parties. Engaging with this history critically helps us better understand the past and informs our approach to addressing humanitarian crises and moral dilemmas today. Thank you for prompting this important discussion.

    It seems odd to contemporary thought to think that the stories about burning witches at the stake were designed by the Puritans to lead people to question the standards for cruelty in punishment, but the English bill of rights was a movement in the direction of increasing the participation of ordinary people in common law constraints.

    • @hamzaisrarkhalid
      @hamzaisrarkhalid 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your insightful observation! Indeed, it's a complex and nuanced topic. The witch trials are often seen as a grim chapter in history, driven by fear and misunderstanding rather than a deliberate effort to reform judicial practices. However, the period you mentioned also coincides with significant shifts towards more participatory legal processes, as evidenced by developments like the English Bill of Rights. This context helps us appreciate how historical events can spur societal and legal transformations, sometimes in indirect ways. It’s fascinating to explore how these historical moments contribute to broader changes in legal and social standards.

      The claim regarding the Rig Veda's consistent Sanskrit style, with an exception in the verse describing the hierarchy of the varnas (castes), is a topic of considerable debate and scholarly investigation. This verse, known as the Purusha Sukta, appears in the Rig Veda (Book 10, Hymn 90) and describes the cosmic being, Purusha, whose body parts are symbolically associated with the four varnas: Brahmins (priests) from his mouth, Kshatriyas (warriors) from his arms, Vaishyas (merchants) from his thighs, and Shudras (servants) from his feet. keep researching you are doing great.
