I've always wished I've had overly blunt people for friends over extreme people-pleasing people for friends like I always seem to have ended up with. At least overly blunt people have the potential to make a friendship a two-way street. Assuming they're not self-absorbed narcissists or anything like that of course, they can both one day show you you were wrong and you show them that they were wrong. They don't only ever tell you want you want to hear and make you feel like an asshole if you ever tell them what they need to hear. That's an artificial friendship where no one is ever actually learning and growing from eachother, which is an important aspect of making a good friendship work. I realized pretty much any "nice" friend I've ever had was just nice for the sake of being nice. The world is not soft like that and everyone needs at least one friend who won't sugar-coat it and keep it real with you. Friends face reality together, they don't coddle eachother from it. Maybe my thinking is old-school and unpopular, but that's what I've come to believe from my difficulties and frustration dealing with so many people-pleasing friends.

thanks for your thoughts. they segue off some memories i was mulling over this morning. it was really encouraging to be reminded we are observers. that works toward regret as well as things we may be attracted to. i was remembering some unpleasant life events earlier - but i had peace. there was no drive to get in to justify or vindicate or fix anything. i just accepted. so i guess i was looking but not touching... just accepting what is and allowing it.

Even though you don’t do asmr anymore I still watch your videos because they still make me feel peaceful and tranquil

Guess this explains why I never felt the need to conform. Once religion steps into the picture, you lose your identity and what is generally known as your life compass. It kinda makes you feel lost knowing that people can drastically change your perspective on life and other things that make you a supposedly individualistic person. Once you appreciate the more authentic side of yourself, the more you realize that there's so much more you vs do with the freedom that you have and the choices that you make that won't have other people interfering with their thoughts and opinions.

This video just randomly came into my feed and it’s so crazy how the universe works. When you said to be grateful with what you have, no matter how small, it made me tear up. We all focus on what we want and what we feel we need that we truly don’t appreciate what we already have. We forgot how to live in the moment and be grateful for what’s currently around us. For me, this was such a powerful video and thank you so much for making. On a side note, I just bought a piece of LDG 2 days ago, as I felt so incredibly drawn to it and here this video pops up.
