Weekend Modeller

Aoshima 1/72 Kawanishi N1K1-Ja Shinden Type 11
A very nice, easy kit to build. However if your eyesight isn't good, masking the canopy with its shallow frame can be very difficult.

Matchbox 1/72 BAe Hawk

A Matchbox kit; basic and goes together well. I didn't want to do a regular colour, so I attempted the primer yellow.
Matchbox/Revell 1/72 Fairey Swordfish Mk I/III

A very easy and simple build from the classic Matchbox era (reboxed by Revell).
Hobby Boss 1/72 A5M2

I think it's a lovely, easy build for the days when you get model builder's block.
Hasegawa 1/72 Nakajima B5N2 "Kate"
Просмотров 162Месяц назад
Fun little build; a shame they make it so you should have the wheels down.
Airfix 1/72 Fairey Battle
Просмотров 185Месяц назад
Classic Airfix; a very easy build, decals performed well but the location of part of the undercarriage is vague in the instructions.
Airfix 1/72 Douglas TBD-1 Devastator
Просмотров 159Месяц назад
It's a simple, easy build for a kit of its age. I had problems with the DecalFix, which somewhat spoiled the build for me.
Airfix 1/72 Grumman J2F-6 Duck

Classic 60's Airfix kit; a fun, simple and fairly quick build.

Kriegsmarine new ship-launched jet reconnaissance aircraft.
Airfix 1/72 Bristol Blenheim IV

I had so much fun building this classic kit, even though the canopy was a poor fit.
Revell 1/72 Blohm & Voss BV P 194
Просмотров 5282 месяца назад
A very quick build which was both fun and relaxing.
Trumpeter 1/48 Messerschmitt Me509

A quick build if you don't put the pilot in, but issues can arise with weighing it down to stop it tail-sitting.
Tamiya 1/48 Sd.Kfz.232 Heavy Armored Car
Просмотров 1612 месяца назад
One simple, easy build; I'd recommend this to anybody.
Hales 1/16 Triumph Tiger 100
Просмотров 632 месяца назад
The kit took a little while longer to build because of how humid it's been in the UK. I would have liked a decal for the speedometer and clear parts for the lights. I might consider looking for the 1/8 scale Revell offering; but don't pay silly prices for this kit.
Tamiya 1/48 Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) Ausf.E/F

A quick, easy and delightful build. No real complaints about the kit at all.

Great looking build! I like the plane.
Omg? Not his groin that poor pilot!! 😂😂 lol well done Michael I enjoy these builds my friend k.u.t.g.w.
Well in an age of gender fluidity it will put him in good company should he/she want to be an air stewardess after the war. LOL.
@@weekendmodeller2740 😂👍
That’s a proper Shiden alright! Nicely done! 💥👍💥
Thank you, I was a little bit nervous about using the new paints but they are okay when mixed right.
One more beautiful work. Thanks mate😊😊
Merci mon ami, c'était une construction très rapide et amusante.
I'm impressed how you used highlights in your overall grey color, well done.
Thank you for your lovely comment and watching my little build. Yes big sides of grey need some tonal variation.
Great looking build! Nicely done.
Thanks for the great comment.
a big like with admiration from a new subscriber. On my channel i have finishedtoday the FIAT CR 42 FALCO.Big like my friend all the best alberto 👍👍👍👍👍👍🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩😊😊😊😊
Many thanks Alberto, the 42 is a lovely aircraft and I think that I may have one in my stash.
Good job!👍
Thank you so much and have a great weekend.
Great! Awesome painting!💪
Many thanks my friend and I hope you are keeping well. Your skills are amazing.
I built this kit in the 90's (a new kit at the time) and completely according to plan. I got a bargain 3 times the same kit (1 blue box and 2 black box). Blue box (like your kit) are older and have no or almost no flash. The black box came out later and have a lot of flash. Great build
Many thanks, I had a lot of fun building and painting this kit. Do you still have any to build?
@@weekendmodeller2740 Yes, but with the hull in more colors (like you). No yellow decals for the flight deck, but paint (possibly painted with a flag on the deck)
Nicely done Michael k.u.t.g.w. 😊
Cheers Jeff, hope you have had a good weekend.
Well done on the swordfish Michael k.u.t.g.w. 😊
Thanks Jeff, she was a spirit lifter build
Wish id seen this vid before i started mine, i did exactly what you did with the instrument psnel managed to unstick it with a bit of heat, its just a horrible kit i thought airfix's aircraft kits were bad lol
Sorry to hear that, I do not make many cars, Airfix kits run hot and cold and may copy and yours are below zero. Thanks for watching and commenting, I have the E-type jag behind my chair sealed waiting for glue and paint?
@weekendmodeller2740 I don't make many cars either I saw this in a charity shop untouched. I know why now lol.
The Matchbox BAe Hawk is beautiful, very good job my friend i have this model in the Red Arrows colour big like alberto 🛫🛫🛫🛫🛫🛫🛫🛫👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much, I to have one in red but I happened to see a picture of one with only primer waiting to be flown on evaluation flights before delivery over seas.
Finnish plane looks very smart ! Almost minimalist .
Thank you so much, I happened to see a picture of a hawk in primer colour having evaluation flights before being painted in national colours.
1975 - probably one of my first models! Thanks for the memories
Cheers Mikey and the Matchbox kits just keep giving in many ways.
I would put some heavy gloss on the " water " it looks to matt now , and that plane is waaay to close to the waves . 🙄🙄🙄🙄👎👎👎👎
Not that bothered myself, you can do that on your builds if you want.😄
So… you want it at cruising altitude 😂
I never understand why they never include three crew figures - usually a 'Stringbag' carried a Pilot, Navigator, and TAG (Telegraph Air Gunner).
Not sure why they don't but I had to find one and put him in. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
The Swordfish!! Nice job and a great plane.
Simple but excellent! Ty for sharing. Not built this kit since the 80s makes me want to give it another go.
She was an easy build and with more time could be made so much better than my offering, but sometimes a quick build gives me so much more enjoyment. Thanks for the comment and for dropping by.
I enjoy your builds- a delight, but far too fast, please slow it down..!
Thank you for your comment, I feel limited by time and the fact I do photo builds. I tried video builds early on but I do a lot of err and err in them. Comment noted and taken on board, many thanks.
As always, beautiful work! Love the little dio base for it.
Many thanks my friend, I do like simple model every now and then Thanks for dropping by and leaving a great comment.
Neat job and Good Details..👏👏🤗🤗🤗💯
Many thanks, she is an older kit but still comes out nice and easy to build. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
beautiful
WOW thank you, one of my top ten cars of all time as a beautiful peoples car. Many thanks for your comment and have a great day.
I am building the Accurate Miniatures kit now. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you for dropping by ,watching and leaving a comment. Have fun building and a great weekend.
Pilots probably sat on their 'chutes anyway = booster ! nice job .
Yes , I never thought of that. Many thanks sir, a very very quick build but fun.
Looks just like a Spitfire. Thanks Ace!!
Awesome work. Nice job on the base. Model on.
Thank your sir, got to say the halloween chop down is looking good.
Well done Michael looks great my friend cheers✌️
Cheers Jeff always glad of your support.
Beautiful! I guess it took a lot of time to paint those spots. 🙂👍
Not at all, I have a micro brush and I thin the paint down and dab the brush( nylon cotton bud) on paper before it goes on the model so it's not to thick. Many thanks for your lovely comment.
I build "in flight" models , but it can be frustrating ! good job on the Kate .
Well I try for spinning props and sometimes they spin but only with a finger push, I kind of like in flight because for me a plane should be "flying". The down side is the stand/base. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice work mate. Great Kate 😎👍
Thank you sir.
Yet another fun build, ty for sharing.
Thank you for stopping by watching and commenting.
Interesting plane bud!! I like the spinning prop pics!!
Great job! You did a great job, it came out great 💪
Thank you my friend for the great comment.
Nice job you have done with this old kit. Sadly the kit is wrong in almost every aspect in the tail, nose and wing dimensions and shape but when corrected it's very satisfying. It took me a long time but was worth it. As an out of the box build yours looks great.
Thank you sir for your great comment, I am aware that Airfix of old got things wrong back in the days of my youth and I have no wish to try to correct the issues of old. For me it's the nostalgia of making a better job of the kits that I made as a boy who spent his paper round money on a Saturday morning. Good old days.
@@weekendmodeller2740 Totally agree. I spend most of my time making the historic kits preferring them to modern ones. Personally I also like the challenge of modernising them but it's what makes us happy that matters. Cheers
@@ricardoroberto7054 So true, have a good week and happy modelling. Thanks for the comments too.
built the Nova version of this kit recently
How did it go? Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@weekendmodeller2740 hit the same snags regarding the wing fit , the kit is of its time but turned out ok , prop was broken so I used one out of a FROG mosquito that had bits missing , looked ok LOL
@@unclegargameldgargameld4888 Yep happy modelling.
Great job, she's a beauty! ..
Sorry for late reply, for some reason I have to go into analytics to catch up on some of the comments. Many thanks.
Great looking Blenheim, nice job! ..
Thank you again, it's nice to build the old airfix its.
Great job. Awesome history. 👍
Many thanks Charlie, classic Airfix kit.
Great job on both builds, the older kits deserves to be build! .....
Many thanks sir and keep watching.
Great job on both builds, the old kits deserves to be build!
Great job on your build and thank you on making videos builds on these older kits. I enjoy seeing them built by using today's "Know How." Most of them come out looking a lot nicer than how we built them back in the 60's and 70's. Again great job on your build! ..
Thank you so much and I too love making them, where ever possible I try to put my style of painting on them and some kits are just gems to build. Have a great week and again thank you for dropping by and commenting.
I think you did a really nice job of what is a dog of a kit mate. Well done.👏👏👏👏
Cheers Al, I do not think it was that bad at all just the instructions were a bit vague on the legs.
Always a nice job Ace!
Will the blue-tac sausage method work with brush painting? Thanks.
I could see there being a thick edge of paint being left on the aircraft once the blue-tac was removed.
@@weekendmodeller2740 yeah, I think I know what you mean, thanks.
Very nice. Must admit I don't have a problem with decalfix. I put the decal down with water then brush over the decalfix and press down with a cotton bud then some more decalfix and leave for a few hours.
I put decal fix on the sight, placed the decal on and a top coat of decalfix and waited overnight. Strange how combinations of things do not work. Thanks for the great comment sir.
Cool water effect
Just filler painted and a clear coat.
Excellent seascape display. The Devastator looks defiant despite it being practically obsolete. Love populated cockpit too. Bill
Yes the three amigos, us brits did the same thing in the early war years. Many thanks.
Nice work, but it seems like the national markings on the upper wing surfaces are on the wrong sides. Should the axes of the three fasci be pointed out? If that is modeling a real example, I haven't seen it before. It might be easy to re-do with after-market decals if it's wrong.
My bad and as far as revisiting it I am afraid that bus has gone. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
