Greater value through filtering noise from signal
The funny thing is that this video makes me feel better about myself. I'm definitely a misfit.
But wisdom is justified of all her children. (Luke 7:35) Life has a way of shaping what we see, what we value, and by how much. Truth is what will not remain hidden.
You’ve drawn too many personal conclusions from David’s life that I don’t like. There’s no indication his father didn’t like him. Joseph kept sheep and his father adored him. obviously certain of his older brothers detested him, no question. And I don’t like anything that uses Santa which is Satan as a leading figure. So I understand the David Drew to him all who were disaffected with Saul’s terrible reign, that is true. I’ll leave it at that.
What the text says matters more than what you “like.”
Your knee-jerk reaction to things you don't like or that don't agree with your current view of reality is very closed minded and arrogant.
Misfits unite! ❤
Amen.
Please Rob, something is trying to make sense in my brain and I don't know quite how to phrase it. Please help me understand, it goes something like this: "Nothing is sin to those who live a higher law (purpose) and it has all to do with the reasons why you're doing what you're doing and prioritization. And everything is sin for those that live a higher law but only fulfil a lower purpose. I don't know if this makes sense? But it has to do with giving it all up especially like comfort, bodily gratification (sleeping, eating, heat, time-off, leisureness), etc. IE living not for the self but for others (paying it forward) in a way where you are led by the Spirit, working tirelessly for God. And counting it all joy, because you know the prize is Jesus. It all has to do with discernment (living by feeling without the emotions - feeling it out)." Is this sort of correct? It is difficult to explain to others and one should encourage people to come up to whatever they can accept to live and when they do, maybe then they'll accept to take the next step. But to throw this at someone and expect them to live it, is to difficult to do from the outset and therefore will be totally rejected. And that's why it is so criptically explained in the scriptures? It's like you said everything has to do with everything. Just like the body - every system relies on all the other systems to function properly. I read all of this and even all of this is criptic.
Also that's why "trying to repent" doesn't work. You're either all-in or all-out! Also you don't give anything up (persé), it's just changing of purpose, where now you will choose the best options, the WWJD in my place type of options. (Does this even make sense at all?)
You've nailed it. It's quite simple, in terms of the system/pattern, but as you say, it has to be broken down extensively to people because they are already full of layers of false tradition, each of which has to be cut through individually and successively.
Your Thoughts Are Prayers! God is Within You. You cannot Lie to God. Tom Sawyer told Huckleberry Finn 😊❤
Amen
One of the reasons I listen to Rob so much is he is so clear on reminding us to seek and live those things of highest value, purpose and meaning. I am struggling with disposing of decades of my parents hoarding and collecting everything! It crushes my spirit and keeps me from moving on sooner to higher value activities. I listen to him and I go throw more things away that in my mind have so much value. I think there's a great symbolism in that in my own life.
Thank you.
This is the first time that I have seen you overlay a population density map with a nuclear fallout map. So sobering!! You could overlay that with a political landscape map and real estate cost map and it's pretty slim pickin's. Time to act is now before the windows close further. And yes, central Idaho is desolate wasteland. You don't want to move there.
LARPing is definitely a big problem. It is humorous that the next video that came up after yours is about farming simulator 25. It looks interesting as a way to get a TASTE of what homesteading could be like, but playing a simulator at 3 in the afternoon of having to get up at 5 a.m. to start your day is, literally, night and day from having to get up at 5 a.m. for real, day after day after day...I think that something like farm simulator, can give you an idea of all the various things required and how complex being a farmer is...but it is a 30,000 foot view.
Job ad: “how would you like your work longer hours than you ever have, working more physically than you ever have, with zero vacation, for less money than you’ve ever made? If this sounds good, maybe homesteading is for you.”
I'm trying to LEAVE Nevada. You're not helping!
:)
There are already a ton of excellent homesteading channels on RUclips. If your friend is reading this, one which I am impressed with is Alexandra Fasulo. She just started a small farm/homestead and is sharing a treasure trove of information. I would tell your friend to first spend time thinking about needs and goals. Don't just start growing things that you won't eat. Don't raise animals that you won't use. Goals and needs must be specific to your family. Oh, and make sure your efforts are adapted to your location/hardiness zone!
Like almost every video you make, I actually have strong reason to suspect that we don’t really know how profound and important the messages conveyed really are. If any of us really did, you wouldn’t have to make another urgent request video ever again. I will say that for me, I am making changes in my priorities and how I use my resources to send more your way on a regular basis. Up until this point I’m afraid I’ve been an unprofitable steward and helping me to see that is a tremendous blessing.
Thank you Rob! I think eventually independence it not going to be an option any more, and people will have to work together. Making do with less. Look forward to your book!
Yes.
A sacrifice is a sacrifice when it stings and hurts a bit to make it. I have found that my donations have resulted in great blessings, including financial.
I’m glad to hear this. Thanks for everything, Milo.
Rob, thank you for everything you have done and are doing. I've been trying to find a way to express in this comment what it has meant to me without writing a book, and I don't know how. To be short, I have looked and read many things from many places, but nothing has hurt so much as what you have shared. Your dedication had made so many things clear to me that should have been clear, but I haven't had the faith to see them. I donated once, and I'm going to review my finances to see what I can manage monthly, and hopefully we can get you enough to live on. Please don't stop. I don't know the level of sacrifice you have made, but I can see that you have reached a level of light that is staggering to me, and you're not much older. Frankly, I gave up for many years and felt like I would never gain clarity, but then I came across your blog, and then this channel. I just finished your book, Through Faith, (and will write a review on Amazon) and my entire world has changed. I have so much to reorganize in my life, it feels overwhelming, but your example gives me hope. Thank you again.
As long as I’m still alive and not a vegetable, I will not stop. I’ll go at the fastest pace I can given whatever circumstances I’m in. Thank you for your consideration and for caring enough to express your appreciation. Don’t fret if donating isn’t something that works for you right now. The most important thing you can do to help us turn closer toward God. After that, we can all encourage others to do the same. Wishing you the best.
Each time I donate, the Lord restores that amount to me double, triple or even quadruple again. This, even though of a necessity right now,my donations are small.
I’m glad to hear that. Thank you for your support. 🫡
Hello! I've happened upon your podcast quite recently, and I found your words to be very enlightening. I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I wholly agree with what you're saying to everyone. The urgency is very real. And your passion for spreading the Word is quite contagious! How long g have you been releasing your podcasts? You speak as though you're teaching a Gospel Doctrines class, or an Institute class... but as I can't really see if there is anyone there in the room with you, I really am curious. I also wanted to ask you if you've ever listened or watched Zion Media? I'm well aware they have a very wide spectrum of guests as well as subject matter on their show...but, they've asked their viewers to suggest people who might be a really powerful guest on their show. They have had several episodes that were highly spiritual & testimony strengthening. I have no idea where you're located, there isn't a lot of info on the page you have. But, I'd really like to suggest to them that they have you on their show. You would have the opportunity for more exposure for others to hear you speak, as well as bear your testimony, etc. They interview their guests in a very respectful way, and have a great opportunity to answer some questions the public may have. My name is Shelley Gudmundson, & I live in a tiny town of Ontario, Oregon. I grew up in the church, but went inactive in my 20s when my temple marriage fell apart. I got back to the church 7-8 years ago. I'm trying to build my testimony again as an older single woman. I really appreciate your spirit and sincerity. I wish you such great success in spreading the Word of God.❤ Let me know if you might be willing to be referred to Zion Media by me? I've tried to find your name as well. Will you please share that with me? Thank you so much ! I also meant to tell you that Zion Media guys have 3 hosts...all 3 are based in the Salt Lake City area.
Hi Shelley, welcome to the party. It’s just me in the room. I’ve been doing these videos for about five years, blogging and writing books for more than ten. I’m happy to consider guest appearances, but I turn most down because I usually don’t think they will help. But I take it case by case.
@upwardthought Thank you for your consideration... I've actually only gotten into watching podcasts this year, beginning back in February. Yours just really caught my interest, with your soberness while speaking to thee audience. Thank you for all hour research and knowledge! I'm a bit intimidated now, finding out that you were a professor for a good while prior to being canceled. I'm sorry that happened to you. I am 67, & have a hard time understanding "canceling" others...I can't understand how they have a right to do that to people. It's like defamation of character to me. Anyway, I appreciate your response. Where do you hail from now? Are you in the western states, eastern, or how hard would it be to go to Utah Utah Utah if you were invited by the guys from Zion Media? I don't really know yet if they would be interested or not, but I'd like to know, as a possibility. Thanks for your time! ❤️
Do not be afraid to ask God 'what lack I yet?', just as Rob says. The last time I did this, God told me that I was fat and lazy. It was that blunt. God wants me to overcome sloth and gluttony. I wasn't sure I was capable of getting fit but God showed me how to accomplish this in a way suitable for my needs. He's real and he cares. Trust him.
A wonderful Holy Spirit led message message. Thank you so much for sharing as very few around seem to be seeing it. God bless.
I’m running out for tile……, thank u for teaching us another incredible example of “getting it”. And language, yes, another huge topic……. 🙏🏻 thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed it. This one is actually over a year old. Other videos seemed more important to get out in the meantime.
Incredible deep , enlightening, and well articulated…..thank you.

Any massive shift requires time to gradually implement. I'm in favor of abolishing the welfare state but I also realize that there are millions upon millions of people who depend on those programs. You can't just yank the rug out from under them and expect things to go smoothly. You can't leave things the way they are because things will inevitably collapse and they'll instantly lose access to those programs anyway. Change is an absolute must but no one can win an election when they say they want to reduce social programs.
Good points. It's certainly a difficult puzzle, and anyone with the courage and fortitude to fix the problem would never get elected--even at the county level!
Rob has warned of this explicitly for years. This is just one example from five years ago: ruclips.net/video/f6EV6cWzp_A/видео.htmlsi=WPeR8SegPYRfojV_ If we had heeded and made changes five years ago, where would we be today? There is still a very short time left. Let us delay not one day longer, and let's start heeding these warnings today. What is the very next step right in front of us to take today in heed of these warnings? Let us be wise and heed today.
I started listening to Rob about a year ago and I love that regardless of the time period of the recording, his message is always the same: fully reconcile yourself to God and increase our trust in Him, so that we have the confidence that whatever happens afterwards will ultimately be for our good.
I planted five small Jerusalem artichokes this Spring. Five. Yesterday, I pulled them up and I produced about twenty or thirty pounds more tubers. It's CRAZY how prolific and abundant each plant produces. I replanted a new row right after and have given a lot away locally. I'll probably can whatever is left over after folks have taken what they want. They're more nutritious than potatoes. Definitely adding them to my "emergency" crop. They are hardy down to zone 3, which I'm sure suits your area. If you haven't given them a try, they're stupid easy to multiply. I think they're the bunny rabbits of root vegetables.
They are a great plant, but a as pas do not thrive where I live. They need irrigation here, displacing better crops, and the cold is a bit too much for them.
@@upwardthought Dang. How do potatoes do?
Potatoes do really well. Which is funny, because most mail order catalogues won't ship to Montana. I'm not sure if there is a blight problem here or what. You have to keep them watered, so we plant some each year just to have seed potatoes in case we need to increase production at some point.
I am trying to prepare for this. I've been thinking that we can learn much from the Amish. We might consider draft animals and old timey manufacturing processes. There are websites showing different methods still in some type of use. One issue is you can't know lots about everything. Another is that prime land, IMHO, is already encumbered by present-day methods. I could be wrong on this. And is your rocky, hilly land optimized for these types of tools and methods? One may run to the hills to hide but find it difficult to survive.
Stay tuned. I already have a video recorded about this. We just have to wait for it to roll out at the every other day pace.
@upwardthought Looking forward to this video to post, as I do all your videos. They are God's word to me directly. If anyone else benefits, that's a bonus. 😁
"One issue is you can't know lots about everything." This is actually a critical point in the End Times. The apparent difference between knowledge and wisdom increases with complexity. Much more to come on that point, as well. In context: finding land, obtaining land, rendering land useful, and making land productive are all so much more complex than those who haven't done it realize, and it takes great wisdom, faith, and charity to do so. The situations will highlight the presence or absence of these qualities, as well as increase appreciation for their value. Through problems like this, knowledge of and appreciation for God's glory is increased.
@@upwardthought Charity? That is an interesting addition to this topic about land.
Indeed! "But it must needs be done in mine own way; and behold this is the way that I, the Lord, have decreed to provide for my saints, that the poor shall be exalted, in that the rich are made low." (D&C 104:16) Great charity is required to transmit what has been learned or acquired over years of painstaking labor and expensive investment to those who lacked the faith to obtain it themselves in the same way.
Very wise. Thanks.
Thank you again so much Mr. Smith. It's extremely helpful how blunt, clear and detailed you are. So many others are just puking word salads. Just when I think I got it all figured out you help me see the holes in my plans, views, etc.
I appreciate that you feel that way, because a lot of people feel the opposite! It’s good to know someone finds it useful.
YES! thank you so much for teaching a great point AND sharing Keko in kaka.
🐕🐮💩
Gorgeous dog!
She’s wonderful.
This is profound and I needed to hear this as I have been going through a time of relative prayerless (pray a minute a day) instead of hours a day like I did for decades, diligently and earnestly praying for God's will in all 197 countries, individually, everyone and every cause and condition and thing I could think of. Being deeply satisfied and fulfilled with it. And the past few months I shock myself with prayerlessness. But I know nothing (not being religious) and needed to be told this. God bless you.
What's your opinion on those that believe that Jesus has already returned? I.e. Matthew 16:28 and other verses that look like his return wasn't going to be a long wait
If he’s back, where is he?
It's very telling how people regard their political candidate as a messiah figure. They're two sides of the same beast. Government cannot save us from what is coming. I had determined to vote one way and God told me to vote another way. So I did, come what may. They're both awful candidates.
Thank you Rob.
You and Jared Eastley have delivered a serious "jab & cross," (the one-two punch combination thrown in boxing) to all my hopes of anything good coming of Tuesday. It was important to have my hopes shattered by the truth from Jared yesterday and those remaining shards reduced to dust by the truth from you today. Just as I was seeking for a second witness during my inability to sleep early this morning. My seeking was rewarded with a resounding reminder of nothing more or less than you've ever taught. It was just super helpful in my emotional state of worry to have specific names used right now at this moment in time. Thank you. This moment in time where we are clinging to a log going over the horizon: are we going to freefall to our destruction, or tumble down a less steep but no less destructive cascade to the same inevitable result? I so deeply appreciate your reminder that what is coming is inevitable: it can come quickly or more slowly but it is inevitable now. When are we going to get that through our heads? I have pondered the symbolism of the Thanos and Iron Man storyline quite a bit. In all seriousness, we really are in the End Game now and there is only one way this can and will go. So deeply grateful for watchmen on the tower.
I totally agree. Trump is obviously way better than Harris, who would only be a puppet president anyway. And yes, Trump has a few qualities to be sure, but he is still really retarded on several issues, and he is in way over his head in fighting the deep state. The central issue is the extreme wickedness of the people of the United States, the realities of cause and effect, and the inevitable results of such.
Can I ask you Rob, in view of the collapse as well as in connection with gathering, will you recommend people outside US to come? I know this is an individual matter ofcourse. When the collapse happen to US, it will collapse all the economies worldwide and this might make it impossible to move then. Though it is very difficult to immigrate to US at the moment, I am sure God will provide a way for this to happen if it should be done. What do you think?
upwardthought.org/media/930
Angels do the gathering. Be worthy and have the spirit is what you should do. The mother of abominations will gather up multitudes to fight against those who repent and who can be called saints and the covenant people of the Lord, and they will be scattered all over the earth. After this the gathering will occur under the direction of the Lord's servant.
@@upwardthought Thank you Rob. We do want to get out of South Africa urgently. Recently my brother's business partner was murdered on his farm in Kwazulu-Natal and that was our wake up call. Though it won't be soon (we're actively saving now to get out), I've been wrestling with God as to where to go, I told them America. Thank you for your detailed answer, much appreciated.
absolutely 1000 percent false prophet, I don't even need to watch 10 min of this to know that. do you even gospel, bro?
Therefore, you should pray like this: *_Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen._* JESUS (Matt6)
And yet, not one of the prayers Jesus publicly offered followed this pattern. Perhaps there is more to learn about prayer than what Jesus could teach us in a single snippet. "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." (1 Corinthians 13:11)
it`s astonishing how beautiful people becomes, when they shear some tears... Becomes soo much more...
you know, if you say "the Lord told me" and you're wrong, then that is REALLY bad. people just have no qualms against throwing around "the Lord said" as if they literally hear a voice in their head. that's called being a false prophet, dude. read Jeremiah and Ezekiel.. I wouldn't be so quick to assume God is speaking to you just because you NEED Him to speak to you so bad that you put words in His mouth. so many people do that, I hate it.
I appreciate your concern and am familiar with the scriptures you refer to. If you are, I’d hope you’d consider the seriousness of calling someone a false prophet without first hearing their message.
@@upwardthought Amen to that <3
All we need to do is live humble trust god and teach and help each other. Its simple. Any stray away is is wicked.
Genesis chapter 5 man is appointed mortal sorrow but the BLESSED GOD shall come down teaching his death shall bring the dissparing comfort... here we see that moses confirms YHWH in the torah YHWH...behold the hand behold the nail
"god"?? which one? "If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:31-32) "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." (Matt 7:21)
What I am seeing here and in my own life is an evolving and developing relationship with the Lord. We should all be following our own paths that the Lord has laid out for us. It was interesting to hear about Rob's prayer life I see from the comments that many people are experiencing the same growth. I am as well. But, I think that people need to realize that maybe they aren't yet to the point there Rob and some of these other commentators are. Start from where you are right now. Maybe you aren't at the point where you already know what to do, and still need to ask about the details. Maybe you aren't at the point where you need to share with the world what the Lord has given you, because you still need to focus more on receiving the word of the Lord for your own self. I would say that the thing you should copy is to first develop a relationship with the Lord, then allow that relationship to grow and evolve. My prayers are now all about expressing gratitude and some intercessory things which the Lord has asked me to pray about. I am still at the phase where I have questions to ask. I don't think we ever outgrow the need to ask questions, but it is difficult for me to even come up with questions to ask, as I ask the Lord to help me know what to ask for. He tells me, and when He does, I know what absolute certainty He will answer those questions. At that point it takes the faith to see the answer when it is given. I used to feel that I had to spell my question out in detail, but now not so much. Sometimes just the hint of a question will bring forth an amazing answer that I have to ponder for days in order to get the full import. But, this is a phase of growth. Welcome all improvement. As long as you are always growing and improving, you are becoming more like the Lord.
allah is a title not a name the name of God is encoded in your DNA " YHWH " before Abraham was..." I AM " 10 - 5 - 6 - 5 Y H W H YHWH...behold the hand behold the nail
God offers no hope to women like me. I might be unsaved but im ready to exit this place early. Too much pain in what he's asking me to endure and do.
If you are still kicking, there is more the Lord has for you to do, and every bit of it will result in greater joy in the eternities. Never give up.
Whoa, this blows the lid off of prayer for me!! I understand now that if I'm doing it right: 1) When I pray about my troubles, I'll be shown what real trouble is, and how much has already been done and suffered for me and my "troubles." 2) When I pray in gratitude I'll be interrupted and reminded to instead show my gratitude in acts of obedience and service in love. 3) When I ask for guidance about what to do, I'll be reminded that I already know what to do. 4) When I come to the slightest intersection or end of the road, the next path will be clearly made known immediately. Wow this is like superhero powers!! Is this even possible? Yes, as shown by Rob, a mere mortal like the rest of us, living this way. And look at the fruits!! Each of us can do this. Indeed Christ's yoke is easy and his burden is light, in this application and so many others. This explains so much to me about the passage in Lectures on Faith where we are required to be certain that our lives are in accordance to God's will. I understood the why but not the how. This gives me actionable insight. I am convicted and ashamed that this path has always been available to me but I have ignored it. God is no respecter of persons. We can have what Rob has! We can do as Rob is doing. Rob, each video you produce is clearly the best one yet. I say that about each of them and this one is no exception. To learn that Christ replies with a vision of what he has done for us, and replies with invitations to act rather than praise, and shows us precisely the path forward when we are honest enough to recognize that we already know, and have already known for a long time... these steps are mind blowing and actionable immediately. I will praise through action! 🎉🎉🎉
The key here is to be honest, which leads to repentance. That is the key to everything.
A man after my own heart. I'm the same way, been this way since my days as a missionary in Germany. Sometimes, I'll spend an hour or three just pouring out my heart in praise and thanks. But mostly, I'm simply drawn out in prayer, "conversing" with our Lord all day rather than monologing in my mind. Thank you for sharing this video. Some days, I've thought I was doing it wrong.
with weeping they shall come and with pleas for mercy I will lead them back I will make them walk by brooks of water in a staight path in which they shall not stumble for I AM a father to israel and Ephraim is my first born... 🤲behold the hand 🤲
