Sand Casting a Brass Boat Cleat (Just Because)
Very informative. Your fans enjoy this type of content. 😃
You should mention that the single use cylinder has a relief valve and your positive the bottle will explode before the relief valve opens.
I've refilled a couple of those Coleman 1lb cans, and I never realized what you clearly explained in this video. Thanks for making this video. From now on, I will only fill a Coleman 1lb can once if it's necessary and will be purchasing some Flame King bottles. One thing for those who might have missed it is if you keep refilling a thin Coleman bottle and it's rusted severely on the inside, it only takes one 💥 Boom 💥 to change your life...🤔🤔🤔
great vid
Excellent demonstration 😱
I started refilling the Coleman ones it only took me about four refills before it started leaking
I don't understand people who complain about the price of refillable bottles. This is a long term multi-use refillable canister. Come on, skip 2 trips to Starbucks, get the Fuel Keg bottle and use it for 7-10 years. Common sense.
yep, this is definitely gonna ruffle some feathers. I understand it from a cost standpoint. But for me, safety is always first. Just because you can get hammered and drive doesn’t mean you should .
This video is so helpful. Thank you. This video will save people from injury.
You sound just like Steve-O
I'm all for doing things the safe way but at what point do I stop refilling the refillable so it doesn't blow up like the disposable would?
Nice video. Just wanna say when you use calipers on a rounded surface like a tubing wall like the cylinders, you should always use the tips on the caliper jaws as theyre thinner and give you a more accurate measurement since theres less flat area on the jaws if that makes sense
That one use can doesn't have a circumference bead stamped in it for support.
And just like there are warning labels on cigarettes, people are going to continue smoking regardless. I'd say the same on these bottles, they will continue to do with them as they please. Great video though.
This video has zero data that supports your theory these calendars are not safe to refill. Why would refilling a cylinder make it any less safe then simply storing the cylinder with gas in it? There's no difference in pressure since propane is stored as a liquid. I found this video to be pure made up openion with no basis in fact.
I simply won't buy the single use 1 lb propane bottles. I use my fuel kegs - I have 6 of them. I keep them filled and ready at all times - with brass caps that seal.
I bit the bullet a couple months ago and bought 2 fuel keg cylinders and refill adapter was around $65 for all I think it was a good investment.
Good information. Thank you for sharing
love your fans
These comments are all bots. Every one of them are pushing people to use the new refillables when there hasn't been one documented explosion or mishap from a regular refilled coleman 1lb cylinder. Everyone I know refills the green tanks and some I know have been doing it for 15 years. Eat a loaf fake azz mfr's
There hasn't been one documented case of a coleman refill failure. It's like there is a giant fear campaign going to scare people into not refilling them....almost to scare them so they have to spend more for the same outcome. The American public are GULLIBLE!!!
I just use ranron heavy small car parts, but fuck all that. Can you do a vid or your kiln an what the uses of it are. Never seen one so simple. Makes me wanna make one myself
Awesome gonna buy some balsa
I trust this guy cause of how tough he sounds, and cause he gave me just the info and none of the bullshit filler. Left me to make my own decision👍
Has this issue (discovered by another user) been resolved? 6 days ago Fuelkegs have a flaw during the welding part. Sometimes the welders leave the beads inside the tank without cleaning them out. And they get stuck in the valve if you turn the tank upside down. I ordered 4 FuelKegs and only one of them didnt have the beads. You can shake them around to hear it. So i ordered 15 more of them to Home Depot so i can pick out 3 good ones. 10 of them were full of beads. One had only a small amount of beads, and 4 were perfect. I kept those 4. So now i have 5 perfect FuelKegs out of 19 ordered.
Just got some Fuel Kegs with refill kit. Been filling the disposables for years, but the other day one started to leak and I figured it was time to get the good stuff. Also the fuel kegs fill up easier and completely verses the disposables. We use ours for in a structure and use the small tanks on the heater verses a big 20 pound tank with hose.
Ditto for my Mr. Heater Buddy. I was considering using a 20 lb tank, but saw enough videos if people having crapped-up heaters (even if they used the "official hose that doesn't leach", or the oil filter, it didn't matter) that I decided I'll be perfectly happy just swapping out 1 lb canisters and having a functional heater when I need it.
@@peachyt6296 Maybe with the filter the hose would be OK, but concerned if that hose blows, would be a disaster waiting to happen. Especially if in a structure. ( Could one get to the valve quick enough to shut off the propane, questionable.
@@GabrielSBarbaraS I'd have thought so too, but after multiple videos of people having broken Buddys even with an oil filter, it was enough for me to say I'll just stick with 1 lb tanks. Switch them out far more frequently, but at least have heat. Safety aspect is a good point as well.
Right on brother!
Never have refilled them thought about it now I'm not going to attempt it. I bought 16 flamekings about a year ago i think I will just use them.
So don’t use the same tank more then hand full of times
I have some BernzOmatic propane tanks. As I was emptying it, I started thinking, "Can't I just refill it with more propane?" So, I started looking for locations nearby where I could refill the canister. It wasn't until I stumbled across a Reddit post discussing refilling the small propane tanks. At least one person pointed out that, while you can refill some propane tanks, not all propane tanks are meant to be refilled. That's when I realized my BernzOmatic tanks are single-use. This video only solidifies why that is. Much obliged.
What's really needed is a professional pressure vessel designer to do a finite element analysis to give us a true answer. I work in the chemical industry where we design pressure vessels all the time. Yes, metal thickness is important, but each of those containers is designed with a safety factor. Included in that safety factor is a corrosion allowance. Lots of factors go into the safe to refill vs. not safe to refill. Or, how many times.
What about the smaller backpacking canisters....does volume mean I can do it once or twice.
Does the Flame King require a propriety filling adaptor, or can you a generic adaptor without the small pin or blade next to the tank valve?
To my knowledge, proprietary due to a protruding "pin" that must depress something on their refillable tanks that regular adaptors would lack (making it unusable for refilling). That's my understanding at least.
@@peachyt6296 As far as I can determine, the pin does nothing, except stop the canister from rotating, there is nothing to depress in the fitting.
@@williambowen7007 interesting, I only ordered the Flame King a few days ago and it has not been delivered yet for me to know one way or the other. Unfortunately I do not have a regular adaptor (I've never refilled tanks before) to be able to test...I wish I could to let you know with certainty, but I did buy their OEM refill adaptor under the impression that it was required due to the design of their refillable tanks. I guess it's my loss if their expensive (~$50) refill kit is NOT actually required, and I could have gotten by with a much less expensive adaptor instead. I suppose you could always try it with a generic first, if it doesn't work, then you'd know you need theirs (and budget roughly $40-$50 for it). Should you go that route, I'd be curious to know if it works without their OEM kit.
@@peachyt6296 I purchased a Chinese version ( no pin) with a 50 inch hose and a gauge for $17.00 before I saw a sale on the refillable Flame King canisters, but I have not tried a refill because it is too cold outside to try it and I do not need propane until spring ( grill on a boat). I purchased 8 canisters and none have a valve inside the fill fitting, however there is a detent area that may be an overpressure release, where the pin goes to make the purge release always point a certain way and make the allen screw accessible.
I have refilled the single use canisters for five years without burning down my house once. But no more. Luck runs out eventually.
You better not use a regular propane tank cuz they rust in the inside too if you're worried about that I'm going to keep refilling them
Don't really see need vs price of a 1 lbs. refillable - multiple 1 lbs. tanks would be needed for several hours use; so $$$$. Just go up to a 10 or 20 lbs tank, they are built for the job, & v. low risk unless you do something incredibly stupid. And whether a 1 lb. tank OR a 20 lb. tank lets go -- boom! It will be equally bad* if your nearby and you would be, e.g. to get warm from say a Mr Buddy heaters. * ok, boom goes a room vs. whole house...but hey.
Useful interesting videos thank you.
The question no one asks, and no one readily has an answer to is how strong does in actually need to be to do the job. The single use bottles have been kicking around, literally, all over the world pretty safely, and some of us have been refilling them for a very long while, also safely… Now are the refillable better built, absolutely. But they were also not readily available until fairly recently… Excellent video analysis!
What I dont understand is if the tank meets spec to hold one pound the first time what makes them out of spec the second time you put a pound in?
I'm not being rude, but you remind me of red green, from the Red Green Show Steven Smith!! I'm just glad you didn't use duct tape😂😂😂 naw great video brother!
Right after you buy any of this, you'll need to cut it in and half coating with grease. Weld them back together and worry free.😂😂😂
I didnt know RF Kennedy was into camping.
Great video. Thank you. Very informative.
This is the first explanation and a great video explaining this very important portable use of propane! Thank you for taking the time to share it us!
Guy sounds like Red Green.
Thank you for sharing your findings I found this very informative.
Doing a public service here. Thanks for the data!
opened my eyes. Ive been refilling a few single use cylinders a few times over the past few years. think Ill use them up and toss them out. thanks for the warning
Hi can you tell me what size this tent is please? Also, what stakes did you use to support it in high winds?
Been refilling for years.
