Sand Casting a Brass Boat Cleat (Just Because)
You better not use a regular propane tank cuz they rust in the inside too if you're worried about that I'm going to keep refilling them
Don't really see need vs price of a 1 lbs. refillable - multiple 1 lbs. tanks would be needed for several hours use; so $$$$. Just go up to a 10 or 20 lbs tank, they are built for the job, & v. low risk unless you do something incredibly stupid. And whether a 1 lb. tank OR a 20 lb. tank lets go -- boom! It will be equally bad* if your nearby and you would be, e.g. to get warm from say a Mr Buddy heaters. * ok, boom goes a room vs. whole house...but hey.
Useful interesting videos thank you.
The question no one asks, and no one readily has an answer to is how strong does in actually need to be to do the job. The single use bottles have been kicking around, literally, all over the world pretty safely, and some of us have been refilling them for a very long while, also safely… Now are the refillable better built, absolutely. But they were also not readily available until fairly recently… Excellent video analysis!
What I dont understand is if the tank meets spec to hold one pound the first time what makes them out of spec the second time you put a pound in?
I'm not being rude, but you remind me of red green, from the Red Green Show Steven Smith!! I'm just glad you didn't use duct tape😂😂😂 naw great video brother!
Right after you buy any of this, you'll need to cut it in and half coating with grease. Weld them back together and worry free.😂😂😂
I didnt know RF Kennedy was into camping.
Great video. Thank you. Very informative.
This is the first explanation and a great video explaining this very important portable use of propane! Thank you for taking the time to share it us!
Guy sounds like Red Green.
Thank you for sharing your findings I found this very informative.
Doing a public service here. Thanks for the data!
opened my eyes. Ive been refilling a few single use cylinders a few times over the past few years. think Ill use them up and toss them out. thanks for the warning
Hi can you tell me what size this tent is please? Also, what stakes did you use to support it in high winds?
Been refilling for years.
Lol good thing the load on the green can is from the inside pushing out, not some goober squeezing it.
I'm going to continue refilling the single use cylinders I already have, at least the fairly new ones, but I'll see least stand around a corner now and will inspect the bottles first. May do some destructive testing on refilled single use cylinders...
Look at those fans. Look at his fingers. I'd listen to him. He knows how to handle danger
This is a valuable video!
Simply Put..THANK YOU! I always knew something was up with refilling these things. Never knew what. I was just about to start doing this. Now I'm not. Not worth it.
Anyone else curious about all the fans?
Right equipment for the job too. The disposables are just that, disposable. There's a time and a place for everything, and I can't see the harm in refilling a disposable when it would save a more expensive tank. Like for a hunting blind or an ice fishing hut or even that neighbor that borrows stuff without bringing it back. They're like tupperware, and who really minds not getting their country crock tub back after sending someone home with leftovers.
I was going to argue with you but you make a very valid point
Thank You Sir Way Smart !
Save yourself some money in this horrible economy and just re-fill the green tanks.... Its safe if you watch what your doing and your also recycling all those old green tanks. This is just a way to push these more expensive tanks , and your greens ones will end up in the ground in some landfill !!! Save some money, help keep landfill trash to a minimum and re-fill the green tanks cautiously !!!
But, when you refill at home your not adding pressure. Your turning the 5 gal tank upside down and allowing the propane to run into the tank. On a home refill your only filling the bottle 3/4 full. The pressure valves are not designed for continues use! I've had them fail a couple times. After that I only refuel a canister a couple times and never allow them indoors. So yes your are correct. Works for me but I use caution.
Super awesome video and needs more views and definitely likes.. for all those idiots out there that watch these how to refill a 1 time use 1 pound bottle and many of times ive stated in comment section on a lot of them videos how dangerous refilling the tanks can be. But yet they say the same things. Your a hater, you dont know what your talking about, or im dumb. They feal that if a store sales these attachments that let you refill these tanks not knowing there only for refillable tanks its safe. People are so dumb to life untill life ends and they say i should of took the advice. Thank you for making this video it doesn't have enough views as it should but maybe people will catch on.
I have the same caliper
Many of us do. These things are so inexpensive and yet, so accurate. I have 2 of them. One that size and one of those huge ones (I think it's 350mm or so). I use them a lot when getting ready to design a case for a gadget that I've made and the case to be printed on the 3D printer.
This message was brought to you by the people that sell the 1 pound cylinders
Sounds like a commercial to sell refillable LP bottles to me. The canisters are engineered to hold LP, regardless of whether it's the original fill or it's been refilled a hundred times, and the pressure relief valve will pop open way before the canister fails.
Concerned about refilling propane containers yet has deadly fans surrounding him.
it's just 120 psi on hot day.
I love quarter pound FK tanks, makes my torch a quick draw fly zapper. No mess just a dried out fly to vac up.
To be fair, this video should always follow one of the ones that show them refilling single-use ones.
Your rugged voice alone has convinced me to use the proper cylinder. When i purchase some I'll use your affiliate link.
I was thinking of doing this but not eney more thanks. I heard some were there going to stop making them.
The gravelley Will Prowse of propane. I love it! I never refill my 1 use.
OK if wall thickness is an issue and not considered safe to use more than once. I have to ask myself what makes it safe the first use. Now the rust issue I can see being a problem but it has a safety valve to release if over pressurized , so this isn't something I do but I would be comfortable writing a date and maybe a use as well and I'd feel very safe keeping it for a couple years. Take the 20 pound tanks I have opened a few of them that were quite old and the rust I saw was basically surface rust after 15 years anyway use your own common sense I guess.
Just shows you need to keep an eye on the condition of your equipment.
Your refillable cylinder had the most rust! Lol. I've refilled single use for years. Never an issue. And, since you're sponsored ( with a link even) to a refillable cylinder you opinion is biased. As for wall thickness, you only showed 1 brand of disposable. They are not all the same, as I weigh mine and know. To me, this is all more scare tactics to get people to buy the more expensive option... Oh, and I can stand on a single use bottle too. I don't use them cut in half...
They have a relief valve built in so that will release before anything bad happens no problem.
If it fails, it will just spring a leak. No big deal.
You should have de-burred those before measuring thickness.
Is this also an issue with the 20 Lb and larger cylinder over time? If so, the exchange concept with Blue Rhino is a good thing.
Yes, they have an expiration date
I just fill Ziploc bags with propane never had a problem.
your link no longer works
Thanks for sharing,i did not know that i needed a mini boat myself until now. The wheels are spinning in my head.
Dangerous, yes. Cool, extremely. I remember one year my dad put real candles on the Christmas tree. It didn't burn the house down, but I've seen enough new years day bonfires to know how fast a dried spruce goes up!
Show me documentation that a non-refillable has ruptured after refilling.
I have refilled the same one about 20 times in the last 5 years
