I don't think Texas is being given enough credit for what it does in the fourth quarter when up by two scores. Texas just grinds out yards and burns clock telling the other team "You are not going to have time to close this deficit. You may think you can close a ten point gap but this game was over at halftime."

In the games up we may need a more mobile QB ,Quinn has been very good but I still worry a little.

When he is injured, there is an argument for QB 2 to finish the game.

We need to coin that 15 play drive for Texas as simply "THE DRIVE" and all Longhorns fans will for ever know what you are talking about.

Our offense is lacking a consistent running game plus the deep ball has been missing. Lost some serious receiver talent from last years team.

Simple - Love Quinn but Manning is a rabbit and can get out of the pocket and RUN He does not stay there because he is slow and will get sacked like Quinn. Also dude, you have no idea that is not the only player that has brought them to where they are now. The whole team has carried the weight. Quinn looked like a scared puppy against Georgia and barely won other games.

This was the most ambivalent, contradicting testimony I’ve seen yet. On one hand Brian says we should appreciate Ewers for bringing Texas back to life, which no one is disputing. However, what some in LH nation are saying and Brian admits is that Ewers is regressing - and we should be happy with an average college QB who inconsistently flashes good playing ability and we should ignore the V12 engine (Arch) sitting on the bench for the V6 engine (Quinn) that has helped the program, BUT clearly isn’t playing well. When did sports or any job outside government stop becoming a performance based business? Wake up. 🤘✌️

Mostly agree. A loss to Kentucky would probably keep Texas out of the SCP. A loss to Texas A&M would have less of an impact but could keep them out. If everything stays the same as now, Texas wins out, then a loss against Alabama in the SEC Championship should not keep them out of CFP. That might cost them a home game in the first round. Of course even that depends a lot on what happens in the ACC. Bottom line Texas has only ONE game to deal with this week and that is Kentucky and I look for Texas to take care of business with a 35-10 win at home.

Pro football focus (PFF) has Ewers graded at a 68.2 out of 100, while PFF has Arch Manning graded at 91.4. AtM’s Marcel Reed has a PFF grade of 68.7. This means Manning is ranked #2 QB in the SEC, Reed is #14, and Ewers is behind Reed at #15. Arch has true dual threat ability, unlike Ewers. Arch is comfortable making deep throws. Arch has played in 6 games in 2024; his redshirt has been burned (because he played in over 4 games). While Ewers surely knows the playbook better and one would hope won’t make as many novice QB mistakes, Manning, if used properly, could help us win a natty this year.

THANK YOU for this. Quinn is doing just fine and is one of the top QBs in college football. On another video this week one person said he would like to see a "solid" game from Ewers. What he did not add was what he thought that would look like. For me 2 TD passes, no Turn Overs (from said QB), playing smart football, take a sack if nothing is there. These are the things that make a solid game. He is the same QB that got Texas to the 4 team playoffs and if Phenix doesn't play the GAME OF HIS LIFE we would have been in the Championship game. The talking heads have keep the pot boiling all season just to get looks and likes.

Manning is a better QB that can throw the ball down the field and is mobile.

Agree with logic mentioned with the Sankey comment to the runner-up in the conference championship. I believe if Alabama and Ole Miss both lose one of their remaining games, Texas could face A&M.

I was in the Longhorn Band from 1970 to 1976 and can attest to the heated rivalry between Texas and Arkansas back then. To our way of thinking, Texas had three heated rivalries. In the order of importance they were Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. The Texas A&M rivalry was more of a rivalry of culture, because Aggies are just plain weird. I don't know if the rivalry with Arkansas will reestablish itself with Texas now in the SEC, but it is possible.

The only thing that needs to get faster at Texas is Quinn. Unfortunately, we all know that is not happening. Quinn is slower than molasses, soft and fragile, and can't throw on the run. Okay, he really can't run.

I am on the hype train. I'm an Aggie and I was dubious about the Longhorns joining the SEC. I always felt our game should have continued to be played regardless of conference affiliations but that is above my pay grade. If both teams can meet at Kyle Field with just one loss it will be insane. Having the two biggest schools in Texas playing such meaningful games as this one will have the whole football world watching. Someone is going to play in Atlanta and this game will likely determine that. Of course, we have to get past South Carolina first and both teams need to avoid a late-season stumble. Gig 'em!
