The Second Annual Centex (Central Texas) Sonex Group Excursion was much fun. The foul weather prevented any of us from flying to Broken Bow, Oklahoma so we all drove.

First flight of Sonex N148MS with new Jabiru 3300 engine. Lunch trip to Brenham with Robert Barber. Bruce Watkins test running the Jabiru 3300 in his Sonex.
Awesome flight! Thanks for sharing.
I can see the reasoning and theory for the streamlined cockpit area, but it just looks ugly. Sorry 😊
Good job man. Congrats.

Wow wow
Hi Mike. I own the yellow Aircoupe a few doors down. Thinking about selling it and getting a Sonex. Wanna talk me out of it? :)
Wow that thing sounds awesome! what engine?
I’ve passed by that little airport several times while visiting relatives nearby.
Hi Mike, If this Jabiru 3300 is your new engine what was your previous engine?
GoodnKnuts , I had an AeroVee for the first 9 years.
@@msing1948 ... ah, ok. I was wondering. Thanks for the reply!
Nice job. What engine you have in your craft?
Nicely done, especially the first landing just about perfect, just reaching down and kissing the ground! Looked like you had been flying that plane for thousands of hours.
My good friend Jim Doyle flying the yellow and blue Skybolt was killed in this airplane six weeks after this video was shot. RIP Jim. You were a true friend.
👍💎💖😔
Nice video! Just saw myself waving from the backseat of the yellow Yak-52 at 15:01 - 15:10. If anyone would like to see a short video of our flight, here you go... ruclips.net/video/S_hNdNEIWyA/видео.html
The dog wants to go flying too.
sweet as....
I fly my Sonex almost every day that the wx is suitable, and sometimes when it is not. Great little Rplane. Most fun you can have in the setting position!

What engine did you use? It sounds great!!!!!
Darin Dougherty The Sonex website lists it as a Jabiru 3300 powered aircraft.
I would like to compare the Sonex to the RV12.. Can you help me out? Looking for some different views between the two planes . Gord.
Hey I'm thinking of buying a Sonex would you recommend me buying one ? What engine do u have in yours I was thinking of going with the jabiru 3300
John, I would definitely recommend a Sonex if it suits your mission. I had an Aerovee in mine for over 9 years and was happy with it but changed to a Jabiru 3300 a couple of years ago just to get the extra power. It really performs well. Nice aircraft
Nice looking sonex. Love the sound of the exhaust. Sounds almost like a Merlin..:-)
greased both landings
Congrats! Nice looking bird. I love the paint scheme.
Even a 172 puts out wake turbulence. Danger is always were you least expect it. What a great video, thanks.
Nice video , what engine did you use ? I am going with the Aerovee , maybe turbo. scratch building plans # 1356
Looks like a great time,,, glad you shared with everyone. Thanks.
Do you have to be a pilot to fly it?
+Arkansas Journal Yes. You would need a minimum of a sport pilot's license.
Love the rear facing camera at 8:10!! So cool!!
Wildman looks like he has the right stuff. Go James!!
Solid all the way around...
Nice looking bird, a little loud, but at least it isn't powered by one of those whiny Rotax 2 strokers
好好
The Twin Bee at 8:32 lost power and made a forced landing on the way back from Reklaw.
Missed Reklaw this year due to work. Videos are the closest I get this year. Looked like perfect weather,
Luv the paint trim.
You did great.
BZ!
