Ep 14: Getting to Know Grassroots NGOs Ft. Yashasvini Rajeshwar, Founder and CEO, AuxoHub
‘Grassroots NGOs’: You’ve heard the term, but do you really understand what it means? In this episode, we get to know grassroots NGOs in India, exploring the challenges, dynamics and myths of these social impact organizations. Joining me in this conversation is Yashasvini Rajeshwar, the Founder and CEO of AuxoHub, a communications consultancy for the impact sector. As she puts it, she sees herself as the “PA’s desk for the NGO leader”, helping with essential tasks like report writing, communications and website creation, allowing grassroots leaders to focus on their core mission. In the chat, we also touch upon her founding story, and the lessons she’s learnt along the way.

    Asking for takeaways will work only if the speaker managed to keep the audience engaged and successful with the first four.... Having said that, thanks for sharing... Very insightful and useful.... I also think making the discussion interactive is the key... No one likes monologues

    • @Raahi.Impact
      @Raahi.Impact 2 месяца назад

      Absolutely agree on interactivity being key… It takes an exceptional story and speaker to make a lecture interesting, I’d say. Planning interaction into the session (or student engagement into the lesson plan) is absolutely the commonly missed element. Wish I’d thought to articulate it in the video! Thanks for this. :) I do think it’s still helpful to ask for takeaways even if 1-4 aren’t done… because it’ll help you understand how much the audience really was able to absorb - it’s good feedback for next time, esp if they draw a blank. 😅 Thanks for engaging thoughtfully with this - and do share onwards to three people who’d find it useful. :)

    An uninformed conversation. The expert starts out that she has " noticed climate change in the past two year..." She has noticed hot weather in the course of two years, climate is long term weather conditions over decades, not two years, or even five years. The "Pre-Industrial average climate" years are specifically picked to amplify the current warming trend. We do have more comprehensive data, but it might not fit with certain theories - don't use data that contradicts your theory. The planet has been warming since the last ice age , for the past 10,000 years. Trends almost always accelerate, until they stop. How did we get here? She starts in the past 100 years, or the past 60-70 years. Why? Why not address the climate as far back as possible and explain much hotter climates of the past and periods when there was twice the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere? why because it does not fit her knowledge or agenda. We should take care of our planet as best we can. Again, Americans and Europeans dictating to the rest of the world. Most of the lithium technology on which many of these solutions are based have hideous implications for the developing countries in which the lithium is mined, including the employment of children as young as 12 years old to mine lithium, while the USA blocks domestic lithium mining because of '"environmental concerns." Please explore this topic more thoroughly to provide your viewers with a more accurate outlook of this issue.

      @@Caterina29 thanks for sharing your perspectives. Can you guide to more comprehensive data/studies on climate that go back in time as much as possible? You're right in saying that mining lithium has implications that we cannot hide from. Perhaps sourcing lithium may be as dangerous as sourcing fossils, but at least the usage of lithium is cleaner (i.e. no carbon/harmful emissions)? End-to-end life cycle assessments can help us take informed decisions.

    Thanks for this Girish. Loved the trapeze transition example. I am so glad many are realising the importance of that transition as an integral part of their life which should be seen as 'make' rather than 'break'. Many may not yet muster the courage (as you mentioned for different reasons) to do it but the fact that it is being normalised by likes of you gives many a lot of faith- 'we can and it's absolutely alright'. Also lovely how this talk acts as a mini yet flexible guide book how it could be the most constructive trapeze transit, as I would like to call it, where we discover deeply ourselves in connection with others and the outside world.

But the way Gireesh, the Interviewer , brought it out, is a lesson for all prospective Interviewers of great achievers and professionals . When you dialogue with path blazers, you need to be a patient listener, intervening only to elucidate a subtle point. Girlish has done that marvelously. I wish him more success.
