Short video I took of the HCCA's first morning in OKC as they drove out for a short trip to a show in Oklahoma City, OK. I do not own one of these and cannot answer any questions about the cars, but they are really cool! More info can be found at www.hcca.org, but I have no affiliation with them.
Auto Lite Calcium Carbide Miner's Lamp
Просмотров 10 тыс.7 лет назад
I made this video to show how a calcium carbide lamp functions. I noticed after viewing this that I replaced the wingnut that retains the reflector on backwards, but it doesn't matter to the operation of the lamp. For those curious, when I first got this fixed and working, I placed enough calcium carbide to fill the bottom about a third full, and filled the water tank all the way. This amount o...

Roasting coffee
Просмотров 1928 лет назад
Oh, look! It's another home roasting coffee video. I just wanted to show how I've been roasting my beans these days, and that you can get a good roast from a hot air popcorn popper that isn't a side air feed design. I need a real microphone, I am sorry about the audio level being so low. Things to note: 1)This will ruin your popcorn popper. The oils from the coffee that are left in the popper w...

Presto 6 quart pressure cooker at temp
Просмотров 10 тыс.13 лет назад
Just a quick video of my little pressure cooker. There's a 6.5 lb pork shoulder in there. The cooking liquid is a half cup bbq sauce and one cup apple juice. Cooking time 45 minutes at pressure, natural release after. Edit after this was posted: This pork took another 30 minutes at pressure to get to the fork tender state, but that was still way faster than if I had used another method to cook ...

    I just received a Copper Infused Stovetop Grill 2 piece set. Never heard of such an item. Having trouble finding any instructions anywhere. I have an electric coiled stove top. Do you just set on top of Larger Burner? And do you fill ring with some water?

  • @dippster357
    @dippster357 6 лет назад

    You are the 5th person that said it didn't work on your electric stove it must be that you guys that said it didn't work you didn't give it enough time to get going because something like this would take a little more time to get going on an electric stove! I saw others cook with it on electric stoves?

      @ma2fish 6 лет назад

      dippster357 can’t believe I’m still getting comments and views on this video! As for the issues with electric stoves, it is with the flat ceramic top electric stoves. I’ve used this on the old coil electric stove tops successfully.

    • @ma2fish
      @ma2fish 8 лет назад

      The ring may have helped if it was filled, but you may have had the heat a bit too high. Was the smoke coming from the grill top, or was it coming from juices that ran into the ring and were burning?

      Glad you asked that question! I got lost in the discussion if it works on an electric stove or not i forgot to ask that question to others that have one.To me that's the whole point of getting one is does it taste as good or at least close to that taste

    Is this grill made for outside grills only and if not how does it keep the grease from burgers from dripping down the middle and cathing fire?

    • @ma2fish
      @ma2fish 8 лет назад

      +susan hendrix Sorry to reply so long after your comment. No, this is not intended for outdoor use only. If you have not already investigated more, there are two parts to this grill. The silver unfinished ring around the perimeter of the grill has a kind of reservoir under the black grill plate. That reservoir holds water for the fats and oil to drip into and not start on fire.

    For those who would like to use this indoors, I suggest a butane stove, like this: goo.gl/Mncfoa , not to endorse the website or product in the link.

    I just ordered one of these over the internet. It came today and the instructions specifically say not to use on the large heating element on my flat top ceramic electric stove. I am suppose to use the smaller heating element. The problem is that the grill is too large to go over one of the smaller heating elements in the back of my stove. I called the company I purchased it from, and of course I can return it (although I might have to pay shipping back). But I would like to keep it if possible. The company I bought it from is getting in touch with the manufacturer to see if I can go against the instructions in this case and use it on the large heating element. Has this happened to anyone else, any advice?

    • @ma2fish
      @ma2fish 9 лет назад

      Terri, first off, I have absolutely no affiliation with the manufacturers, nor the website that make and sell this product. That said, I was disappointed with this on a ceramic cooktop, and I say so in the video. You really need an open flame or an open heat source to heat this grill sufficiently. Ceramic stovetops keep cycling off when they reach a certain surface temperature, and with no direct contact to a pan or pot, they cycle off very quickly, before the grill has a chance to get hot.

    Does that grease catching pan work? Have you experienced any grease spitting or seeping through the grill holes down to the flames? I can see how it's designed to catch that stuff but I worry about grease spitting into the flame.

    • @ma2fish
      @ma2fish 10 лет назад

      The drip pan/liquid ring does actually keep any drippings away from the flame, so that no flare ups happen. It does not prevent all the fats from getting on the surrounding area but it does a decent job of keeping the clean up job an easy one. The center cooking area extends out a bit past the inner edge of the ring, so drippings drop into the ring only.

    • @ma2fish

      Sorry I haven't replied sooner. One of the best things this grill is good for is Korean style beef in a sweet and savory marinade, called Bulgogi. There are many recipes for it on the internet, but the most authentic ones always call for an Asian pear, and it's that fruit that really makes it great. Other than that, any thinly sliced meats or vegetables are exactly what this kind of device is meant for. You put on what you want to eat, and in Korean style, have a nice leaf of lettuce ready to put the grilled items on, followed by any condiments and wrap it all up like a little burrito. You eat that one while the next bunch of fillings are cooking. Everyone at the table gets to cook what they would like from the selection of meats and veggies, and it makes for a fun personalized meal you get to socialize at.

    Thank you for showing this. I used my Presto PC for the first time today and I had WAY to much jiggle going on. I'll try something else tomorrow and try to keep my jiggle looking like yours.

  • @ma2fish

    @hyotang82 That regulator is supposed to simply rest over the vent hole. It should not fit tight, it is supposed to be able to gently rock, like in the video, when the cooker is at the proper pressure.

    I have a quick question..! I have same presto pressure cooker(6quart) and I never used it. Is it normal the pressure regulator not fit perfectly on top of cover? instruction said it will fit loosely but isn't it pop up while you are cooking? .. I think mine seem to be fit too much loosely..

    @TOMATNOSCE While I have no doubt the Fagor products are nice, the Presto cookers and canners have worked beautifully for me, and at a great price point. I'm still learning how to use them in my kitchen more effectively, and I'd like to try some pressure canning soon.
