Puffy Patch Films is the location for films created by Nate Mitka. Check out my film, The Bike Listening Tour, on my channel now!
2,500-Mile Bikepacking Trip About Loneliness: The Bike Listening Tour
The Bike Listening Tour follows Andrew Mohama on his solo cycling tour across America as he investigates loneliness. Inspired by his passion for community, Mohama sets out to learn more about the Loneliness Epidemic in America, biking along less-traveled rural roads and, at one point, biking across “America’s Loneliest Highway.”
During his tour, Mohama interviewed more than 100 people about their experiences of loneliness and community. The film takes place in Nebraska and follows him on his journey as he interviews people, bikes from town to town, experiences a terrible mechanical failure, and incredible hospitality. Mohama’s goal with his listening tour was to get to know people in rura...

Nice to see you and your film♥ Hope you will come some day and do the Arna WFWC race with me in the Westfjords.
Steel is real...
Awesome!!! Your explanation starting around 10:40 is perfect and really nails at least why I love long distance bikepacking. A great video start to finish, but that portion is spot on...well done and thanks for putting this together!!!
Thank you so much :) Glad you enjoyed it!
you are not alone with these thoughts and feelings my friend,,,from another bike camping aficionado in Chicago,,,Om Yo!
What a fantastic open-hearted journey, Very uplifting. Good to remember in these days of division in our country, Thank you Andrew and Nate. PS Andrew you are going to be a great doctor!!
Veyr cool, well done!
Thanks Zach!
Good.On.You, Andrew! What a great project. Of course, I appreciated the "rural touch."
For a strong metal repair, I've had good luck with J-B Weld 8267 SteelStik.
Good tip!
Wow, this movie is better than most bikepacking videos i've watched so far and it only has 4,6k views??? Great job!
Thank you so much! Working on it!
Lonelyness is a blessing ,it keep you happy and away from the drama of the useless...
I love the thoughtfulness this bike tour video showed. Thank you for putting this out there for all of us to enjoy!!😊
Glad you liked it!
Nate, you captured bike touring and Andrew’s journey so beautifully. As a bike tourist and aspiring documentarian myself, this made my heart so full. And Andrew, you embody exactly what a bike tourist should be: present, resilient, kind, and most of all, open minded and hearted. Thank you for being a mentor to Alasdair and me last summer and I hope someday we meet in person! This made me just a bit foggy-eyed. Much love.
Aw, thank you so much for the kind words!
This is awesome dude. One doctor to another, great work. Subbed.
Thank you!
C.F. is not for touring. Leave it for racing.
I really enjoyed this, Andrew. Thank you for taking the time to do the tour, have a great mindset, and showcase the world what you've learned. We are all richer for it!
Glad you liked the video!
Beautiful. 12 minutes in this video, the wonderful kindness of strangers is beyond what I expect from a cycling video. You bring people together. Keep going, brother, no matter what.
What a great film! I just subscribed and look forward to your future work. Totally agree about the part when you talked about how you can experience a place deeper on a bike - as someone originally from a rural town in the US I related to a lot of this. Really interesting to look at the relationship with cycling and loneliness vs. aloneness. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it :)
Very interesting. As a child I spent a good bit of time on my 3 uncle's farm in a more rural setting than the suburbs I grew up in and felt much more connected to literally everyone I encountered "in the sticks." I miss those days.
Andrew I married someone from a rural town and raised my children in a rural town. When he died I moved to the capital city of our state. I miss the rural community terribly you show cased this beautifully thank you.
This is an amazingly well made film, within the top tier of any of the cycling films I've seen. Very good premise, very good storytelling and editing flow! I really hope your channel blows up, with content like this it's only a matter of time 🙂
Thank you so much!
Fuck carbon bro
watching from Philippines.. well i cycle when i feel i want to disconnect for a moment. its a therapy when i discover places around that i haven't been to.. and also meet new friends.. enjoy cycling, keep safe 🙂
such a touching story :'). so proud to know you Andrew!
Amazing movie. I'm looking forward to your future content!
Current med student studying for step 1; Loving the video!
Glad you liked it!
Well filmed just subbed
Thank you!
Loved the video! Interesting observations about loneliness vs age in small towns. I’m curious how the hustle and bustle of cities provides different connection at different age brackets. The strangers inviting you into their home for 4 days was poetic.
Thanks Zaid! Glad you liked it :)
Wow, impressive Andrew. And great filming Nate! This was so inspiring to watch - and the kindness of the two strangers who hosted, it gave me goosebumps. Loved the part about experiencing the world slower than just driving by. A good future doc who is prioritizing physical health, mental health, & studying loneliness. Hell yeah.
Thanks Nikki!!!! I couldn't believe the kindness of those two Nebraskans. Rock on!
@PuffyPatchFilms I taught in Normanton North West Queensland Australia about 1,000 people in the whole town. I miss the closeness
Great video man, keep up the good work.
Thank you!
