My theory is that Sauron ordered smaug to stay at Erebor. It was part of his bigger strategy. One, he wanted to divide and isolate the people of middle earth. Two, the rings of power made the dwarves greedy. They amassed huge fortunes which attracted the dragons. The dwarves didn't just have problems with dragons at Erebor. Just a couple of ideas.

I wonder if Tom Bombadil and Old Man Willow knew about the ents? Did Tom ever visit Fangorn? Could there have been ent wives in the Old Forest? I can understand the huorns being vengeful after Sauron burning the garden of the entwives and them along with it, or Melkor kidnapping them to turn them into trolls or the Numenoreans cutting them down for timber to make their ships. To answer your question at the end, I would enter Fangorn depending on the circumstance. If I had to go, I would and take my chances.

The problem with Borimor getting the ring and taking it to Minas Tirith is that sooner or later it would've turned all good to evil. The moment anyone powerful used the ring, they would no longer be in control of themselves. People still would've died and Gondor still would've fallen to evil if someone like Denathor had used it. Back at the Council of Elrond, Borimor would've surely understood this, but he would've surrendered to the temptation of the ring due to its corruptive nature along the journey. Lol, I always think of movie Borimor as Ned Stark in Game of Thrones. I wonder what would've happened if the two characters had swapped places. Ned was so good, I can't imagine him succumbing to the ring's influence. I think at the end of the day, it's irrelevent why Borimor wanted the ring. It was the ring which chose him as the most likely member of the fellowship it could control, like the nazgul, seeing as he was of mortal man. I suspect the ring looked into people's hearts and preyed on their weaknesses and flaws - Smeagol wasn't very nice even before he found the ring from memory.

I just have to say, I love your channel. You may not get all the events in the novels right, but I so don't care. What I do enjoy are the highly inventive scenarios you come up with. Although there's a sense of being lectured to, it's no different than in other channels like Rainbow Dave or Broken Sword, only they lack your imagination. I think Terrleatherwood’s post nailed it since it works within Tolkien’s lore and quite logically follows from it. The curse itself is cruel and motivated by anger which places it squarely in the dark camp and not something that Eru Illuvitar would necessarily sanction considering he even forgave Melchor’s rebellion during the shaping if Middle-Earth. So the innate evil of Sauron’s Ring would neatly account for the efficacy of the curse. And Tolkien’s moral framework and the historic context also account for Aragorn’s authority, as Isildur’s heir, to release them from it.

There is another possible explanation for the power of Isildur's curse. The curse was delivered after the final battle of that war. The battle in which Isildur's father, the King, was killed and in which Isildur cut the ONE RING from the Dark Lord's hand and took it for his own. So, Isildur owned (and may have been wearing) the ONE RING when he delivered his curse. Thus, the curse may have been powered by ring magic. We know that ring magic turned mortal men into wraiths (The Nazgul). Ring magic trapped the souls of the Nazgul very much like the souls of the Men under the Mountain were trapped. So, Isildur invoking the power of the ONE RING when he delivered his curse may be an alternate, even more likely, explanation for the power of his curse. If so, then as long as the ONE RING continued to exist, the curse would exist. It is possible that the destruction of the ONE RING would have also freed their trapped souls. We will never know since they fulfilled their oath and were released before the ONE RING met its ultimate fate on Mount Doom.

Cate Blanchett is a great actress and very beautiful, but Galadriel she is not. I cringe every time I see her as her. Also, I find it a little amusing that in the movie, Return of the King, Frodo looks like he's been stopping off at KFC one too many times. No way does he look like he's journeyed hundreds of miles and endured many hardships. Then you see pictures of him on these sites and ooop, he's been on a crash diet and been given a few more worry lines. The sad fact is however, the movie version of Frodo in Mordor is way too fat.

I have trouble about seeing the fall of Numenor as something that was ultimately good for a number of reasons. Mainly, so much life was lost, including plants and animals. Also, so much knowledge was lost. And if the elves could travel backwards and forwards from Valinor to Middle Earth and Numenor, why couldn't Numenoreans? It doesn't seem fair. If Eru Iluvitar had allowed them freedom of movement in Valinor, all the suspicion and envy against the blessed realm and its inhabitants wouldn't have occurred. At the height of their power, the Numenoreans were just as capable, if not more capable of defending middle earth against Sauron, coming to the aid of Gil-galad a number of times. They had the added bonus of living on a blessed island. Yes, many turned to evil, but Eru Iluvitar also commits an evil act by destroying the good along with the evil. And as they say - two wrongs don't make a right. But the video does make some good points too. The survivors were the Faithful, who established beneficial kingdoms in middle earth, no more slavery or sacrifices by Numenoreans. Also, Sauron no longer ever being able to assume a fair form. But overall, to answer your question at the end of the video, no, I don't think Numenor should've been destroyed. It went too far, and Gondor's glory later faded anyway, and only survived because Sauron was stupid enough to put his power in a ring which was later destroyed. If that hadn't happened, Sauron would've easily defeated Gondor. As usual, a thought-provoking and imaginative video. Tysm 😊
