Girl I've been going through the same thing where I'm in constant comparison with the world around me,...and I think sooner or later we were bound to discuss it, kwanza ju uko in a new country .makes sense definitely tuning in....

The way this is relevant, you have no idea. On this opposite hemisphere, I have seen the exact same thing and at some point I stopped hanging out with the Kenyan community at NU because of the pressure to secure an internship (a good one to be specific) and because we are all self-proclaimed over-achievers. Essentially, I measured my worth based on the reputation of the company I would be looking to intern for in the summer and it led to a period of anxiety and burnout during fall quarter 2022 because I was busy trying to do it all; overloading on classes, working and prepping for interviews with high end companies. To the point where a friend of mine asked me whether I was stressed because every time I entered the dining hall or smelled food I would lose my appetite and every time I heard a friend of mine has gotten an internship at a company that I applied to, my stomach would drop and I would feel a heaviness in my chest even though I was happy for them. I never really assessed the entire experience. I just knew that it wasn't the right way to approach things but now watching and listening to you speak, this message is definitely for me. I can say that this year and last year the Holy Spirit has given me a peace that literally surpasses human understanding. I was waiting to hear back for a return offer and the stakes were higher than before but the way the HS was whispering to me "I got this" and "Do not fret" and "Everything in due time". He was so clear and reassuring and just.. wow. I actually remember someone telling me to just consider looking for an internship elsewhere and the way the HS was speaking louder than him 😂😂 literally telling me "Don't you worry". But God...😊😊 Anyway, thank you friend. Keep doing what you are doing because you are touching lives out here. Love you 🥰
