Both weapons are good for CQC, while the AKS is meant for short and mid range combat the M4 is meant for more mid and long range fights but can also handle most close fights cuz of the fire rate and damage per round

i found it to be a lot easier to go into a fairly dead(1-9) man server and hope that there's a current blackout. Got my first x24 within 4 rolls, but be aware if you use it and intend on server hopping, it does NOT save. As for the potion im unsure.
