Marathoning in Málaga, Spain (Not!)
Our cruise stop in Málaga happened to be on a day with a marathon running through it. Unfortunately, this created various barriers, and lots of spectators that made our short visit a bit challenging. We want to come back to explore properly, but in the meantime, here's what we did!

Kicking Around Cartagena (Spain)

This was our second time to Cartagena, but our first time into town. We didn't have time to see and do everything, but we enjoyed what we saw. Hopefully, we can stay longer next time, and properly explore the area!
Stunning Salerno (Italy)

This is as close to the Amalfi Coast as we'll get, but we were definitely impressed! We hope to return to this little gem of a town, so that we can enjoy it without the disruption of the ship's schedule.
Messing Around in Messina, Sicily

We did a little of everything here - climbed up the hill, paid to go into an impressive building, watched the clock do its dance, and tried some food and snacks. We hope you enjoy our day with us!
Murmured Mykonos (Greece)

This island stop is very popular, and we were looking forward to experiencing it without hoards of people, since it was winter. We'll show you what it was like - the good and the bad - so you can decide when you'd prefer to go.
Getting Lost in Limassol (Cyprus)
Просмотров 154Месяц назад
In true Global Geezer fashion, we wind our way through this port town, trying to find little (or big) historical treasures. There were some pretty interesting buildings, and some pretty ordinary ones, too. We wish we had more time to explore, but hopefully we'll be back.
A Tour of Montecatini Terme (Italy)

We stayed in this small Tuscan town for about a week, and explored some of the nearby areas. In this video, we walk around town, showing you what we find along the way. Are those Roman baths??
Lovable Lucca (Italy)

This beautiful walled city was just a short train ride from where we were staying. We'd heard about it from other travelers, who said it's worth our time. Oh boy, we definitely believe it is, and enjoyed our day trip!
Vibrant Verona

This northern Italian city surprised us! We didn't realize the old town was so large, or that it had a coliseum and so many rebuilt Roman structures. We could have easily spent a month here! Check out all of the things we found during our weeklong stay.
Austrian-Italian Alps Train Trip

We were looking forward to this train ride from the Austrian Alps, to the Italian Alps, and the weather was cooperating! It was like a picture book all around us, and we couldn't stop filming! If only we could have had some cleaning spray and a towel to clean the windows! Lol!!
The Austrian Town of Fulpmes

We took a train up to a small local town, looking for open space. The ride up, and the views when we got there were absolutely stunning! Since the town was carved into the mountainside, it was mostly up and down hills while we explored, but well worth the trip.
Intriguing Innsbruck

Kevin visited this city almost 36 years ago, but this was Sarah's first visit, and we were so thrilled to experience it together. It had amazing charm, with the old town, the walkway along the river, and being surrounded by the beautiful mountains! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Dachau and the Path of Rememberance (Germany)

Visiting a camp where humans abused other humans makes for a very heavy day, but we're glad we experienced it. We'll tell you the story of the Path of Remembrance, and show you what we learned of it, and the camp it took us to - the first and biggest in Germany.

Many stores have limited hours, and are closed during the heat of the afternoon (siesta time). Also, this was filmed in early 2021, so it's possible that some businesses were permanently closed, due to the lack of travelers for so long.

We're full time travelers, and share our travels on YT because it's easier for friends and family. If we paid to go into every church we visited, we couldn't afford this lifestyle. We have to budget all we do, and sometimes we can 'splurge.' We are grateful to visit the area, even if we need to skip seeing the insides of churches or museums.😊

Last fall flew in and out of Huatulco on a trip to spend a few nights at Zipolite and then a week in Oaxaca (city) for Day of the Dead. I finished the trip by spending a couple of nights in Huatulco. I stayed in La Crucecita, which was very pleasant, and one afternoon at the beach at Santa Cruz. I liked La Crucecita, and if I can get a cheap flight again, I can see myself spending a relaxing week in the area.

Similar to Warsaw, all of this was destroyed in WW2 because Russians didnt like the "german" architecture so all of these pretty little houses are just commie blocks that are made to look like that :DD It was a smart way of rebuilding the city cause commies didnt have problem with that

Gdańsk between 1920 and 1939 was a free city and not part of Germany. What do they teach you in these schools, because certainly not history? The entire Gdańsk region belonged to the Kingdom of Poland in the 11th century and later - for more than two hundred years - was ruled by the dukes of Pomerania, who at the end of the 13th century ceded their domains to the rulers of Poland, Przemysł II and eventually Władysław Łokietek. In 1308, Gdańsk was occupied by the Teutonic Knights, who ruled until 1456, when Royal Prussia, and with it Gdańsk, found itself - for more than three centuries - within the borders of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Lost to Prussia in 1793 (partition of Poland by Germany, Russia and Austria), Gdansk was intermittently lost to Poland until 1945, when - by decision of the Great Powers at the Potsdam Conference - it was once again granted to Poland. Out of over 1,000 years of existence, 146 years belonged to the Teutonic Knights, 126 to Prussia and the German Reich, and 26 years were formally a "Free City". Together this adds up to 298 years. For the remaining 700 years it was closely linked to Poland.

Love your video. A month in Gdansk sounds like a fantastic idea. I recommend summer. We were there for a week this past summer while traveling around Poland (we actually stayed in Sopot; one of the Tri-Cities.) So much to see and do in the area. You’ll be spoilt for choice. Make sure you do some day trips: Torun (birthplace of Copernicus and gingerbread) Malbork castle (biggest brick castle in the world) Sopot (beach resort with the longest wooden pier in Europe) Hel Peninsula (gorgeous beaches) Slowinski National Park (largest shifting dunes in Europe) Gdynia Orlowo cliff (add a beautiful walk from Gdynia Orlowo cliff to Sopot along a forested promenade by the beach; lots of beautiful beach cafes/restaurants on the way) Btw, did you see Daniel Fahrenheit’s thermometer statue in Long Market? It’s very cool. He was born in Gdansk.

The Old Town in Warsaw is 70 years old. You watch the clip: Warsaw - a city of ruins 1945 - Authentic photos. This was filmed by American pilots. The palace in Wilanów is the only monument that was not destroyed but robbed. It was the summer residence of King Jan III Sobieski. This is the end of the so-called Royal Route.

Krakow is a way better Polish city to visit. I spent a month last march in Poland. Old town Warsaw is fairly new and actually looks like a movie set and fake since everything was destroyed by the Nazis in WW2 and rebuilt afterwards. Minus old town Warsaw is a horrid looking city. Old Soviet communism architecture mixed with modern architecture. Still worth visiting imo.

Greater Poland(Wielkopolska) is the cradle of Polishness. This is where Poland's history began. The cathedral was destroyed and rebuilt several times. The Golden Chapel is very important in the cathedral. The first rulers of Poland are buried here: Mieszko I, Bolesław the Brave, Przemysł II. The Golden Chapel is dark, you have to pay PLN 5 and then the light turns on. 5:14 The small, green, glass wall is the outline of the foundations of the oldest brick and stone buildings in Poland. These are the foundations of the prince's court and the first church. 😉
