    Since I'm not on your job as a helper, I can nit pick. Was your guy installing a line set? What happened to the evaporator coil? I would have liked to see you provide for the coil. I would liked to have seen a canvass connector. You have one on the return. I would have liked to have seen a cross break on your panels. Great job, nice and square,. You have minimal gaps at your corners. Since I'm retired, I would hire you guys.

    my furnace has been shutting off and seemed those pipes, went outside and cleared the mud from the yellowjackets using an extention pole with damp sock on the end of it. had it happen 4 years ago, can't get to some of the inside pipes but blew them out with blower best i could, next summer i will be installing a screen or hosery for the summer cause i think the older the furnace gets the more comfortable these yellowjackets are moving into them, i do have the larger wire but that doesn't help with mud in there

    Doesn't it make sense to: 1. Point them down to prevent rain and debris from going in? 2. Use a fine wire to prevent small critters (bugs, wasps, etc) from entering?

    • @whitingservicesheatinganda3858
      @whitingservicesheatinganda3858 Год назад

      1. The exhaust air is already going in an upward Direction when it comes out because it's warm. Also we don't want to shoot it downwards because it will get sucked into the intake pipe. This can cause flame out due to lack of oxygen in the burner. The pipe configuration you see here is according to the International Code Council(ICC) code book 2. In the video we explain why you can't use fine wire. The holes must be at least one quarter inch wide, otherwise condensation will turn into ice and block the flow of gases out of the pipe.

    I learned from an old school lead installer on how to do transitions using Pittsburg. When I first started out being a lead almost two years ago I struggled with sheet metal and now I find myself doing all different types of sheet metal fabrications from ductwork to to even making boxes for downflows. It’s rewarding if you put the time and effort into pushing yourself every day just to be better then you were the day before.

    I trouble shot using the Williamson manual and it was on point. I've watched you troubleshoot and you followed same steps. Only thing, to check 24VAC out of transformer, you connect transformer back on the board then disconnect the TSTAT connector from the board, check the left and right pins, if no 24VAC registering then transformer is called out as bad. But you were on point using a different method. I believe there was power interruption at the switch there, no need to replace the BX, but I guess its ok. However, at the end of the day, I would hire you if I needed to. I wish i watched your video before I troubleshot my boiler but since I had my manual, I followed it. I'm an aircraft engineer by trade so I love the challenge in stuff like this.

    • @whitingservicesheatinganda3858
      @whitingservicesheatinganda3858 Год назад

      Sounds good. I didn't read the troubleshooting steps in the manual because I don't need to. I guess it just happens to be similar to what I did. However I would never check the Transformer voltage by sending it through the board first because what if the Transformer is good but there is something wrong Inside the board? I just check Transformers directly at their leads. The problem that took out the components was actually an intermittent power surge. It happened again a week or two later. And I installed a surge protector on the line circuit that time. Problem never came back.

    This gave me a great heads up.. normally I would mark my inch for hem than my measurement. I would find myself not being able to get my longer transition inch hem because it would be on the edge I'm going to try it your way and just measure total length than fold in my hem

    • @whitingservicesheatinganda3858
      @whitingservicesheatinganda3858 Год назад

      Remember when you make a bend, the bend takes up about an 1/8 inch on metal. So your back panel for example ends up being a little less wide than you measured. So adjust your initial measurements accordingly. For me, for example the back panel, I will measure my back panel with from different places depending if my side panel bottom flanges are flared out or flared in. If that makes sense.

    "I think we are okay" is a bit worrying to hear. Proper duct sizing and heat loss calculations is the name of the game.

    • @whitingservicesheatinganda3858
      @whitingservicesheatinganda3858 Год назад

      It sure is. But real world isnt always that cut and dry. Are we going to tear a customers house apart because their duct system is undersized? Suggesting that will illicit a response of "But its been running fine for 20 years" and then they show you the door. Yes we knew its undersized because we do duct calculations. The 2-ton system ran fine for 20 years. If we replace it with the same size system, it will still run fine. And it did!👍 Sorry that you were worried from our video, but we werent worried for a second. Duct sizing and load calc is important. And when installing new construction, its easy to base your decisions solely only those variables. But when you are dealing with existing duct systems, much of which is inaccessible in walls and ceilings, there are more factors to consider. Would I install a duct that small? No. Would I tell a customer my 2-ton cant replace their 2-ton because the duct is too small? No. Because real world historical data matters
