It let's you buy extra fake currency or special accounts with a minimum currency, in case you don't want to wait to build up your funds the normal way when you lose or if you just want to support the site. what about full priced $60 COD, Fifa, Madden etc. every single year? Ultra for $15 after 2 years since the last paid update is fucking great..
why should it be freee anyways? im pretty sure it would have cost a lot of money for a studio to make those characters/balance changes/new features. Why are you entitled to have companies work for you without paying them?
@grit1: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This is the game you like, guys? Okay, here's an update, here's new characters, balance changes to make it (hopefully) interesting again, and we're for the most part clearly marketing it towards the core gamer crowd who want to play this competitively.
actually its the third paid expansion and you can buy the current version with all expansions right now for $15. And I think $15 is a fair price for USF4 considering it adds new characters, balance changes, and also stages, modes and features you forgot to mention.

Yeah part of the reason I don't follow statecraft as much anymore is because you gotta pay to spectate, pay to watch vods and download replays. Fuck. That. They try to nickle and dime you for everything. I like statecraft but common. Same with dota.
Where LoL eSports is rigid and stale as fuck, the fighting game community is lively and vibrant.
