My education in primary and secondary school included the daily ritual of singing one hymn from one of the Anglican books of praise. It was an important tool for helping me learn the English language. I feel nostalgic whenever I hear one of these hymns as it brings back memories of singing these hymns with my childhood comrades while our headmaster, the late Clive Rushbrooke(may he receive the reward of the righteous), provided piano accompaniment.

I only know two things about the writer of this song. 1: He was a church organist, and oxford music scholar. 2: He was my god farther. Just been reading his obituary. He sounds like an amazing music teacher, and a man of many hidden talents.

No. I never new of any family. My father never spoke of any family. He sounds like an amazing man. I met him for the first time in 30 years, in 2017. I wish I had known I better. Reading his arbitrary was very enlightening. He played the organ at my fathers wedding.@@debsy28
I knew the wonderful man who composed this song. He sadly died last August after an amazing life and inspiration to so many people. Love your arrangement, it's great!
