This is just a quick video showing the set up of a five piece band using a small stage space. I used a Soundcraft UI24r and an EVOX 12 for the main PA. Anyway, not sure if you can get anything out of this video or not but hopefully it helps someone!

Michael and the band played at my Sweet 16 back in 1982.
Wow! Was it Set Free or Town Crier?
how did you split view in your middle touch screen?
Hello! It’s called Big D mode and you can select it from the menu. You have to be running a high resolution monitor and through a computer, to access it. I forget all the details, but if you search “Big D mode” on RUclips you’ll find lots of videos. DO NOT SEARCH “Big DD”…… it’ll be something completely different!
Great video thank you. Could you elaborate on the recording function. So far my levels for the stereo and multi track recording seem too low. I don’t quite understand how to bring up the gain for that.
Sure, it all starts with a good game structure from the beginning. You have to make sure your gains are set right your levels are all hitting about -12 DB and relatively balanced. Then, your multitrack and stereo recordings are picking up essentially what is going out in front of house. The easiest way to increase that gain level on your recording is to bring your master left right up to unity. Then mix your live output as you would, and that should give you better gains. Let me know
good job Aaron
Thank you!🙏 I was tasked with running my cover bands sound, since our old guitar player moved out of state. I was able to get by the first time but this video DEFINITELY will help me clean up what I noticed was a little off. 😬
Thank you!!!! Happy to help, throw questions my way if you have any questions
Hey. Thanks for the video. How did you find the RCF speakers with a live band? I'm considering them myself for my band playing rock/pop songs in bars and pubs. Do you think the volume and headroom would be enough for bars/pub gigs? Thanks!
Hello, I use mine for bands all the time. Plenty of headroom, volume and nice low end with balanced mids.
@@StreamlineEntertainment Thanks for your reply 👍
Looks great! Thanks for posting! Which touchscreen monitor did you use? I tried one that didn't work and investigating a replacement.
Thank you. I can’t remember and I’m out of town. However, that question has been answered several times in the comments. It’s a Viewsonic, don’t know the model #. Sorry about that. Subscribe for more content!😊
Thank you for your video. I have one question that stuck in my mind: can we use the ui24 as a stagebox on stage, and run a LAN Cable directly to the PC for controlling the unit from far away? Thank you !!!
Yes
I am new to my UI24 and I am trying to record multi-track to USB flash drive. I have 4 musicians and 2 vocalists. Is this even possible? It has worked for me with 2 musicians and 1 vocalist but I have yet to try with this many channels involved. I would love some info if you can help...all I can find online is info about how it should work but no info on anyone actually doing it. Am I wasting my time? should I wait until I have the funds to just use it as an interface and buy a DAW? Thank you for any info you can give here!
Hello, deep breath… we’ve got this! Yes, you can record up to 22 channels simultaneously. 1. Connect all of your inputs, set the levels, eq, etc. get it ready to rock! 2.press on the “play” triangle that’s on your top bar 3. Select “Multitrack Config” and highlight the channels you want to record. 4. Select “Multitrack” 5. Press record. Remember record will both start and stop the recording. You can now press “Mix/Gain” to return to the mixer mode. Bonus tip! Once done recording. 1.Get back to the “Multitrack” screen. Press “activate soundcheck” , select the recording you just made and press play. and go back to the mixer mode (press mix / gain) 2. Adjust levels, eq, mix the song to your liking. Important, have your master at or near unity when you mix the song to your liking. 3. Put a second flash drive into the other USB port 4. Go to the “multitrack” screen. Stop the song you just mixed. With the master at or near unity, press “2-Track USB” and press record. Go back to “Multitrack” and press play. When the recording is done, press stop on both multitrack and stop the “2-track usb” You have just made a shareable, 2 track recoding of the songs you just recorded, mixed down without a DAW and it’s all done inside of the UI24r. Hope this helped!!!! Subscribe and like.
Can I ask what laptop you are using?

Hello, thank you for this video. Very helpful. Since you are doing many many Live events. Could you please share an exported JSON (Shows) file with a good setup? That will help us users like beginner users to analyze and learn from your full settings and logic. Once again thanks a lot for sharing t her knowledge.

Is your middle monitor connected straight into the mixer? or using a browser through a computer?
Hey there, I am using a browser through the computer / extra monitor
What touch screen is that ?
view sonicTT2230
Hi could you please explain how to setup the screen that you did in this video.
Additional monitor off of the computer and opened a browser on it
I've been running a UI24r for nearly four years and I find them utterly unreliable. As a studio unit, they're a dream for what they can do, but the one thing they can't do is execute. There has never been a session where I was not shut down by UI24r hijinks. Either the UI doesn't run right, or the wifi disappears. I admire your bravery using these in a live setting, I would never dare, and I only play small insignificant shows. To make this setup reliable would require a substantial investment in concessions to its shortcomings, as you've demonstrated in this video (huge touchscreen monitor, iPad, *and* a computer.) Meanwhile this Yamaha gear right next to me right now has been happily making quiet things loud for 20+ years.
I hear you, I’ve heard a lot of people complain about the reliability of the unit. Personally, I haven’t had any issues…. Yet. Mine has executed 100’s of times flawlessly., I understand that is not everyone’s experience. For what they are, they are packed with versatility and features. But, if it doesn’t work, it’s a paperweight. You don’t need all of the screens, computers, etc. that I have, but for me those devices helps my work flow. That said, I’ve ran the whole thing off of an iPad while drumming and leading a band… well over 100 times. They are not for everyone and they are not perfect, but I like mine. Now that said, I’m looking for the next solution because too many people say they crap out and I’d be naive to think it couldn’t happen to me. In the meantime, I’ll keep helping those of us who use them routinely.
You are doing it backwards. As a professional sound engineer I can say that without reservation before you can talk about setting levels on the console you must first set your amps to "Nominal" Nominals mean they are set to the highest level without attenuation. Usually this is "-0- ". The way I know a sound engineer ( Sound person) has no idea about theory is when I see the faders all over the place. To set up your mixer properly, you set the channel fader first, not last. All the channel faders should start at the "-0- or whatever the Nominal is, then the gain is added until you begin hearing feedback and then back it off enough to get some head room. If your channel faders are all over the place this means you didnt set up the gain function correctly. Go to any major concert and look at the faders, they are 90% across the screen, with one or two at maybe up to 20% dip. By the way I am on a number of some top performers live albums and have been a professional stadium sound engineer for 40+ years. Also when you are setting up your EQ on any channel ( Noting that you have ran a tone generator for the room EQ's for the Main output first and that is set) You can be more precise if you hit the RTA on any channel and see with your eyes how any person speaks/sings and adjust the EQ accordingly. The RTA will show you the persons exact heights and valleys, and you can adjust the accordingly. Also, if you set your EQ correctly you really dont need a de-esser. I would only insult people if I told you why they put De-essers and feedback eliminators on mixers now.
Thank you so much for your feedback. I am aware of your method of mixing and it is a valid style. I’m unfamiliar with the term nominal, but I do know the term “unity gain”…. Which I believe are the same thing according to your description. And you are correct I forgot to mention, in this case the powered speakers, should be set to unity. Thank you for that observation. With respect to doing it “backwards” I believe that is an overstatement. The word I would use is “different.” There are multiple ways to skin a cat. Much like the term -Nominal- vs -Unity Gain- neither are wrong, just different. I learned something today from your method, now my toolbox is a little fuller, thank you. I’m impressed with your resume, congratulations. So, my question is, if all faders are at unity or “90%” as I could clearly see if I ever attended one of the concerts that you or your peers engineered and the gains are backed off just below feedback, how do you “mix” the individual levels. I.e. one vocalist louder than the other, or boost a guitar solo? Anyway, thanks again for your input, much appreciated and really brought clarity to is “sound guys”.
Thanks for your comment it's sort of validates my non-professional thoughts on gain structure as well, what's my first experience with digital mixing. I think early on there were a a few problems with some inferior preamps which made the learning curve a little rough. RTA is an awesome way to learn. I remember older sound guys back in the day who used stand-alone units back in the day. What amazes me is how different rooms can be and how things can change with an influx of a crowd. I'm just a dumb bass player singer who's been lucky enough to learn from respect and sound guys.
I don't think it works that way in this software. If you set the mix fader to 0 you get no sound. I believe this is an intentional feature so you can get your gain dialed in without pushing any sound out tot he house. then you can adjust your mix accordingly as you bring up the levels.
The question has been asked how do you change the name of the Aux. On all channel labels, press and hold, a menu pops up then rename channel.
At our church on low budget we got a ui24r in a some like fixed position near the choir (we are a church in Italy, we do mass) I create an audio snake to bring 4to and 4from the FOH desk to the mixer like 30meters of cat cable that works perfectly as xlr cable, at the FOH desk we setup a refurbished pc that turn on when he got power and open up full screen on a touch screen the mixer page, with the snake we bring stereo headphones and a stereo aux that we use for streaming, the ui24r it's very powerfull with routing and usage! This december we are going to experiment with two ui24r in cascade mode (one member of a band here has one and we host a choir festivals so lot's of input
NICE VIDEO! What is the physical connection between the big touch screen and the Ui24R? I only use mine with a MacBook or iPad, so wondering what software is needed to make the Ui24R work with a touchscreen (I assume the touch screen has no browser or OS associated with it?) Thanks!
I had the same question. Likely the touchscreen is connected to the Mac
@@lucas_mende_sI ended up buying a Viewsonic 16“ touchscreen with Mac drivers and it works very well. Used it at my last gig.
HDMI cable
UI24 will allow you to connect any HDMI device as a display just by plugging it into the built in HDMI port. You can also connect a USB mouse and keyboard for control - use the USB ports. I’ve run a 46in TV display at home in this configuration. These touchscreens usually have HDMI out and a USB connection to send the touch inputs so just hook them up. I don’t have one yet but looking at doing it as my iPad isn’t really working as a main control when not at home.
Hey all, sorry I missed this one. The laptop is connected to the Ui24 via WiFi. The monitor is connected to the laptop as a 2nd monitor. I opened a second browser window and moved it to the monitor and BOOM! you are in business. A
Totally enjoyed the tutorial and would like info on setting up and how to use view groups and how to upgrade mixer to Big D mode. Didn’t think I could use it on 15' MacBook Pro
What type of touchscreen monitor do you recommend?
I have bought Ui24r for the church and will be installing this week. Your video is amazing and very straightforward to the subject. God bless you brother
Bonjour et merci pour ce tuto bien utile j'ai besoin d'une précision faut-il une carte SD spéciale pour enregistrer en multipiste ? Merci

Can I direct connect a viewsonic monitor to ui24 mixer with hdmi cable. Please reply me ergent. It's possible then I by a viewsonic monitor.
Yes you can. However, you will need USB connection also for the touchscreen feature to work.
Best video on this product out
Thanks! More to come. Ringing out a room and Interface Setup are coming soon!!!!
How is the touch screen connected to the Ui24R? HDMI? How does the touch input get from the display to the mixer? USB? Thanks!
Monitor is HDMI to laptop. Monitor is USB to laptop for touch capabilities.
seems we need 2 more videos, how to set up the big screen, and how to ring out a room. Great videos.

does it need to be a touch screen or can it use a USB and/or MIDI controller in addition to a screen?
is it possible to combine two ui24r? by connecting the 2nd ui24r to another ui24r via RJ45 Cable?
Yes, it is called cascading. Directions on RUclips.
What kind of touch screen is that?
Viewsonic TD 2230
Just out of curiosity, are you using a WiFi connection or a hard wire ethernet cable to your computer?
Wifi
What size is the middle screen. Thanks

What touch screen are you using in the middle of the video. Need to get myself one. Thanks
How do you get that double view on each screen
That is Big D. It is supported with an HD monitor and a 4K 32”works best.
Hey. Great setup. Can I ask a question? Have you had any problems with the unit so far? Any audio drop outs? Thanks
😳 Now that you’ve asked it’s all going to go downhill!!!!! No, I have had Zero issues in the 3-4 years I’ve owned this. Used it probably 3-400 times.
@@StreamlineEntertainment haha! It's a fantastic machine, just always in the back of my mind that something might go wrong. I've heard all these reviews about audio dropouts and things like that. The gui is the best out there I think.
@@paddyeire96 I have the same concern based on other’s experiences, but it hasn’t happened yet. I always also think “I should carry my spare mixer” and never put it in the truck…… again, now I’m jinxed!
Hi there, love the setup, could you tell me how you got the touchscreen and the laptop to speak to each other so when you select a channel on the touch screen it automatically shows the eq and that on the laptop? Cheers

Thank you for this great share. Allows even more appreciation for this great unit. Must just say I'd be hesitant to just link Wi-Fi... Cat5 cannot fail unless someone cuts it😜
how are you connecting via Cat5?
hola que marca y modelo es la pantalla tactil , de cuantas pulgada es la pantalla? y si tiene conexion a wifi , para que se comunique con la soundcraft, desde ya gracias
Sounds like you need another main console touchscreen. That’s what i’m about to do. Either way, you’re setup is just fine and it works. I’ll sometimes use the laptop to multitrack record live performances, but that rarely happens. Or else i’ll just use a high write speed flashdrive. I’ll mainly use the laptop for plugins. Cool setup!
Hi! Wil you tell me, how to set up the program view like you have on your laptop and the big monitor?
Sure. On the computer It is called “Big D” mode and is an option found in settings. It can only be displayed using either a computer or a streaming box with a touchscreen . I suggest a computer, keep it clean and easy to troubleshoot if there is a problem. But that’s it! Toggle Big D to ON and mix away! Good Luck! On the monitor it is set up as a second monitor out of my computer and I opened a new window on that screen. Opened the Ui interface and opened just the main mix screen. That’s all! Remember, use the USB and HDMI to get all the features of the touchscreen.
@@StreamlineEntertainment Thanks 👍!!!

But then BigD doesn't work? So if you want to use BigD, then you need to connect the touch screen to an external device like a PC or Mac? Is that correct?
@@StreamlineEntertainment how did you get BigD via the HDMI out on the UI24R?
@@captinJerk After I activated Big D on the Ui it automatically came out when I used the HDMI to my monitor/ PC. I didn’t have any problems. What issues are you running into?
@@StreamlineEntertainment Ok i see. You are not using the HDMI port on the Ui24r unit but running the touch screen as a 2nd display via your laptop. Thanks for replying!
What is that touchscreen?

Hi! Can I ask if that screen is connected via HDMI cable only? Thank you.
I just purchased a 24 inch touch screen monitor to use with this system in mind. I am familiar with the Behringer interface but am new to this one. I think once I get used to where everything is I will like it. I almost bought the x32rack from Behringer but why not try this instead.
