I do not own the rights to this video, I simply found it on facebook and shared it with youtube. Produced by Tad Nichols. This is a short film about Navajo rug weaving from 1939.
No Doubt performing "Excuse Me Mister" @ Cricket Pavilion

The great No Doubt playing a very mellow ska version of Excuse Me Mister. At the end you can hear it switch to Ex-Girlfriend which was awesome but sadly I cut it off :(( sorry for the bad quality, my camera was being yucky.

    Should I build this where it will eventually end up living or will it fit through a normal door okay?

    • @jaitothemee
      @jaitothemee Год назад

      I would definitely set this up in the room you want it in. The door I moved it thru at the end is much bigger than a standard one.

      @@jaitothemee Thanks! I set it up on the patio last night and yeah, it's huge! Never would've gotten it out that door! One tip for anyone reading, using a ratchet with a Torx T25 bit will greatly speed up construction and give you more torque for the bolts than the included tool. I DID use the included wrench though for top section to hold the nut while I ratcheted the bolts.

    After seeing you put together I think I'm going to keep mine and not sell it. I don't really have space and that's why I'm thinking about selling it. I bought it thinking it would fit in my small house, but the space is a little tight for it.

      the prrson I bought it from didn't have space either but I think it's tootally worth saving for that perfect spot! :)

    How did they card? Wool before there The. metal brushes?

    • @knitter4years
      @knitter4years 2 года назад

      carding wool results in rollags or the rolls you saw that resulted. You don't need rollags to spin wool. wool can be fluffed out and spun directly from a cloud of yarn. Another way is to loosely bundle and tie and lash it to a distaff and spin the wool held on the distaff onto a spindle. the distaff is a wooden staff tool to hold a bunch of wool for spinning.

    Came here because if I try to line the holes up, the back one is completely impossible to screw in.

    • @jaitothemee
      @jaitothemee 2 года назад

      I had that problem too, I had to unscrew everything and realign it. I kept the screws in the holes but left them really loose, and pulled the frame to the side I needed until I got the screw that had trouble thru. I had to give it a good tug, it should fall in place 🙏

    I am awestruck. Being an experienced handspinner and beginner weaver I can only say that this lady is an ARTIST. A work of art produced from scratch with such simple means... A humble thanks from Germany for showing this to us.

    Thankyou to whoever made this film for us... i too was fascinated by what surrounds this craft; the clothes the women were wearing, how and why the baby was in what sort of holder, the landscape, the apparent good health of all we see. i would love to ask them questions.. UK RUclipsr

    I love the rug weaving process of Diné people (Navajo), this is precious. Not many people have this technique anymore. When one says "everything has a spirit" this is one of those things that have a spirit. Your focus and creativity is all put into one and is created beautifully.

      It's a matrilineal society, women have a lot of political mobility, get to own land, conduct ceremony, and make pilgramiges to the sacred mountains for squaw dances, which are primarily dances done by women.

    When I saw the little kid trying to help it brought back memories of when I was small. I remember my grandma and my mom doing this and I would sit there with the extra pair of carders and try to help too lol

And BEAUTIiful skirts & wrist details. Love the spider women. Religion. THANK YOU CREATOR. A beautiful craft you give to 5-finger beings.
