Thank you, Minister Stephen Lecce, for a positive and heartfelt message to the graduates this year. Grade twelve students in 2022/2023 had most of their high school years stolen from them by lockdowns. It is right that we recognize them.

I appreciate the letter to parents from the Minister of Education for 2022/2023. It emphasized reading, writing and math. It was so refreshing to read because of what it did not mention: - climate change - racism - gender - sexuality He just wants students to learn reading, writing and math. Very nice!

Yes, and thank you for my 38000 dollar a year salary that i cant live on and that I have to go on Employment Insurance every summer. I do this for the kids and we are all very good at what we do. It would be nice to have a liveable wage though. Have a great summer. Also do you think I can have one of your designer suits so I could sell it and get about 6 weeks salary for it. 😂😅

Why in the world is it amazing that kids finished the school year? This should be the lowest level of what is required of our kids. Lately canada has me very dismayed. The bar is set wayyyyyy too low. Good job Charlie, you get an award for going to school

It was very nice of our Minister of Education to take away a few minutes and record this for the benefit of the students, parents and everyone. Thank you Minister. I would however, like to mention that the school curriculum and programs need revision and are very outdated. Education, particularly middle and high school equips our future generations with skills that they learn and will use to make a living for themselves and contribute to their communities. However, the current curriculum falls far short of this objective. The tween and teen years are when students need not only support and encouragement but also strict guidelines on discipline and accepted behaviors. However, our high schools have become grounds where students seldom show any adherence to these norms. I would also like to see some guidelines around mobile gadget use in and outside classrooms. Constant exposure to social media and gadgets is depriving students of much needed focus. I hope our Minister for Education would set up discussion forums and bring about legislation to this effect.

Thanks but no thanks. Your budget cuts are making education worse for everyone while your government sits on billions of dollars of unspent funds. My kid has a two year waitlist for in school speech support! The classes are too big. There's hardly any ECE or resource support. And you nickel and dime the teachers who are all worker harder and longer with less support. You are perhaps the worst education minister in the past 30 years and not truly a supporter of public education at all. You're a disgrace.

Instead of investing so much money in mental health, how about you reinvest in sports and music programs? Sports and music are two proven activities that address both mental health and intelligence. I suppose you took neither growing up.

Thank you Stephen Lecce for cutting budget to our kids. My daughter school doesn’t have vice principal cause you have NOT allocated funding for them. Please provide funding to teacher so they can provide basic resources such as pencils, tissues, and can hire school buses for trips. You and Doug Ford had created such horrible conditions for our kids with all your budget cuts to even basic necessities

There are were no systemic cuts. Ford just removed the $1.6-billion in special funding for COVID. Read the budget over the last 5 years.
