Ask anyone who has formed this habit. After several years, when moving your head around in circles, there is a scraping and crunching that has nothing to do with gas that might be trying to escape. I haven't yet bothered searching why habitually cracking your neck causes this, but I discovered it when I joined a Dojo and one of the exercises to relax the shoulders was to move the head in the same fashion as a cartoon character dazed after taking a blow to the head. I will research now. But everyone I know who has cracked their neck for years has this crunchy neck thing. Cant be good. And yes. Had a friend who did it forcefully with this hands and he broke his neck.

Look at the online and print advertising for nearly all colleges and white males are intentionally minimized in the imagery. The spokesperson for the college will almost always be female. This even has become the norm for military colleges.

I think that 2nd place is a good place. If you refuse medals you don't understand what sport is at all. If you fight and do your best, you accept that someone can be better than you. It's simple but some players are just very rude and are a bad example in sport. I was very happy when somebody I liked turned out 2nd in tennis or in swimming competitions. If you only think the 1st place is good, you have no sense of sportmanship.

That's the sad side effect of a knock-out format. You only get it by losing in the last moment. Since you were so close and not getting a trophy after all that effort hurts even more.

Obviously coming in first is the ultimate goal, but I'm willing to bet no one reading this has ever been second best in the world (or in Europe as the case may be) at anything. It is an achievement to be proud of. At least eventually. Immediately after a loss, it hurts and I get that. Perhaps it is not necessary to have the spectacle of of awarding the silver medals. Maybe. Not sure how that would work. Anyway. I am of the opinion that, when you lose, you congratulate the winner, thank the fans, appreciate your own effort, and move on, like an adult. The silver medal will mean a lot more once the immediate disappointment fades.
